Bloodystar flinched then cast his gaze upward as the volcano eruption rattled the hillside, causing loose rocks and pebbles to cascade down to the cats below. For a moment it seemed time paused and all of Bloodystar's senses were consumed by the sheer pandemonium of the explosion. In only seconds a thick plume of black smoke rose high into the sky and totally covered the sun, casting the world beneath it into a monotone hues akin to smoke and ash. It was truly an apocalyptic sight to behold especially with fire, brighter than the sun itself, leapt from the mountainside and began to meander its way toward the cats below and what looked like a snail's pace but was actually shockingly fast.
"YOUR DENIAL HAS ENRAGED THE SUN GOD!"Bloodystar finally called out, pausing to cough as the ash in the air began reach his lungs, "The longer you fight the path he has laid out before you, the more death and destruction will befall SunClan! Can't you see that that's what has been happening all this time!? We've been hungry, chased out, attacked, murdered, all because certain members of the Clan are still traitors who site with Littlecrow, even now!"
Seeing a few cats make a break for the exists, Bloodystar motioned for the cats guarding the only way in and out of the Ceremony Springs - an ancient fallen log across the red waters of the Ceremony Springs - to block it, "NO ONE CAN LEAVE! One completion of the Tying of the Knots Ceremony will appease the Sun God and right all of your wrongs. I repeat - GET IT LINE!"

Brightdawn giggled, racing away from the crowd with Tawnyowl to escape unnoticed until the explosion happened just as she reached the fallen bridge. It caused her to pause just long enough to where one of the guards was able to grab her from behind and slam her back down onto the hard ground. She yowled with frustration, scrambling to her paws with fur bristling "You mousebrains" she hissed, swipping at them to put some distance between her and them
"This is NOT going to stop me" she growled "We are leaving" she looked over to Tawnyowl before giving him a sly smile "hope you like swimming" without giving it to much though, she launched herself into the red river that surrounded the ceremony springs. She had swam across it many a times, but as soon as her front paws plunged into the water high pitched screams filled the air.
Brightdawn managed to scramble backwards, causing her to fall to the ground writhing in pain, her screams drowning out most of the crowd as eyes fell upon her form. The paws were bright pink as blisters began popping up upon her skin "Make it stop, Make it stop! It hurts" she begged "
The water of the red river was now visibly starting to boil as the lava got closer and closer to the ceremony springs
Tenebrousrequiem purred when Ferventprayer finally spoke firmly about what she wanted. "You did it, I love you so much." He told her walking with her.
Then Bloodystar's words registered and he snarled. "If you think we're going to say when it's clear that you're in the wrong and whatever's raining fiery death is going to be stopped by your madness you've got another thing coming."
He unsheathed his claws turning to his clanmates. "Death will befall us if we stay here!" He shouted. "Perhaps it is not those in the clan that's wrong, but the one who has been leading us that is causing every tragedy to befall us! We will all die if we remain here!"
"Ow!" Blindfaith cried, placing her paw over her face with a teary eyed expression. She moved her face away, slowly pulling back her paw away to test the stinging sensation, before placing her paw back over her face, "I think you bruised it bad."
Her ears pinned back as the ground began to rumble, "Why do we live in a land that historically has nearly killed us more than god damn WinterClan who lives at the peak of a freakin' mountain," She sighed, pinching her claws between her nose in stress. Was this really going to have to be her job? Every time things settled down some major new catastrophe would happen. She knew Littlestar had told her this was her destiny, which seemed fun at first. She had seen and heard about other medicine cats going on adventures, helping out their clan mates. But they didn't seem to have as many issues and drama as SunClan had.
Duskslayer shrugged at his friends words, "Maybe, but they'll come to me if they need help," He assured, just barely tuning in on his kids shouting match with Bloodystar. They hadn't yet learned that some people are just rocks, his father explained it best. There will be people made of flesh and there will be people made of rocks. People made of rocks stand still, they'll remain the same person they always were, an unmovable force. You can't make a rock do anything because it's a rock, it'll do what it likes, which is doing what it always does. But rock people are also easy to ignore and if you let yourself be like water and flow around rock people there will never be any issues. That was what Bloodystar and his mom were, after all, made of stone, always coming in hard and heavy.
When the ground began to shake and his pieces fell for a second time he let out a long sigh. He supposed it could be an earthquake, not uncommon for lands that weren't very flat, but looking up at the sky he could see that wasn't true. "I don't know, reminds me of the story of AshClan, it's bad though. Dear, can you get the littlest kits to move to DayClan's border? Just tell the guards that Bloodystar said these kits are the chosen ones for the Daylight Ritual and when they say they've never heard of it and act superior and offended that they'd go against their priests command," He explained before kissing his mate on the cheek, "I'll go-" He looked back at Bloodystar screaming at the top of his lungs, rubbing his temple, letting out a long sigh that only an older brother could have, "Deal with that."
He leisurely paced up to Bloodystar noticing Bravepaw on the ground and Darkpaw anxious expression to get his siblings out. "Darkpaw, find Blindfaith, she's soothsayer so she knows the tunnels around here well, she can get everyone out if you get cornered by the guards."
Duskslayer moved past Darkpaw and over to Nocturnepaw's side where he was hovering over his son, Bravepaw, "He'll be alright, he's stronger than he looks, braver than anyone knows. I think we should get him out of here though, so keep him safe for me?"
Duskslayer stopped short of meeting Bloodystar, his shoulder rolling back, head tilted up straighter before approaching the priest, "You were right all along, there were traitors even in my own blood," He said stepping closer, "What do you think we should do? I mean, I just heard my kids conspiring to make a bridge from the weakened tree to get away, but all your guards are on the bridge, there's no way we can force a marriage and stop them if the guards are all standing there." He reasoned.
Taking advantage of the split second that Tenebrousrequim monologued, Discordantmleody lunged herself at Ferventprayer, digging her claws into the she-cat's soft white-and-calico fur, then pulled her backward toward the line Bloodystar had indicated, "Quit playing these games, Missy. You never really had any choices here, there's not enough chaos in your heart to rise above it." racerJetclaw

Pixiepaw knew the entrance to the Janus camp after being sent to the Amphitheater numerous times for training in the past moon. As soon as she saw guards swarming around the bridge, she darted down one of the main tunnels and disappeared. Did she know where she was going? No, but, as much as she loved Bloodystar, she wasn't willing to die for him.

Soaringpaw covered her ears at the sheer pressure of the explosion and was at first dazed. From where she stood the air felt static charged, shockwaves of some sort of power she didn't understand were hissing at her feet like a viper, clearly stronger on the side that Bravepaw stood, not that she thought anything of it. Glancing upwards, she saw the sky was covered and smoke and already ash was starting to rain down among the assembled cats. Despite what was surely the apocalypse the tyrant Bloodystar still had enough air in his lungs to spout nonsense.
"Yea, let's go," Raising back to her full height, Soaringpaw surveyed the options before her. Already cats were crowded at the narrow exit that was the log bridge and she could see others trying to force their way through the Janus tunnels. While she thought there were ways out none of them were close, there were just too many cats. Without guards it was unlike that everyone would be able to escape.
Tenebrousrequiem immediately noticed the loss of Ferventprayer's warmth, and immediately fury ignited when he saw that same bothersome she cat dogging his mate. With a roar of fury he launched himself at Discordantmelody. They were roughly the same size, but the desire to protect his mate strengthened his claws. He slammed his paw on her shoulder to force her to release Ferventprayer. Jadieracer

“Don’t you dare touch her,” Tawnyowl snarled at the guard, his fur bristling until Brightdawn smiled at him. Before he could respond to her, she’d already pounced partway into the river. Following her movements instinctively, he was less than a second away from doing the same when her screams stopped him. Fear overwhelmed him as he leapt towards her. “Brightdawn!” She had already scrambled out of the water as he landed at her side, his eyes widening at the ugly blisters bubbling to life on her paws. He’d never seen anything like it.
How did this happen? Then a sizzling sound reached his ears and his head snapped up to look at the river. Bubbling and boiling so hot, steam rose above it. As the bubbles popped, burning liquid sprayed out, some drops hitting closer to them than he liked. Without thinking, he bit the scruff of her neck and dragged her back a few feet. “Shh shh, it’s okay. You’re okay,” he whispered to her, licking her cheek reassuringly. Her scream of pain had been louder than anything after the explosion, and he glanced to either side, hoping that someone would help. They had to realize this ceremony was the least of their concerns at this point. racer
Weed had slowly learned that speaking up to Bloodystar was not worth the effort. For the most part, the tortoiseshell had kept many of her thoughts to herself. She had tried to reason with herself that things would get better. That she would get through these trials if she just kept her head down. That’s not to say that she didn’t speak up every so often, but she had for the most part been ignored. It was something she expected. The romance festival had been fun, a needed distraction for many of Sunclan’s cats. But they were all naïve to think that there wouldn’t be a catch. The initiate hadn’t been able to stop the roll of her eyes as Bloodystar announced that those that had chosen mates for themselves in the run would now bind their souls together. She had watched with silent joy as many of her clanmates stood up for themselves, especially some of Bloodystar’s own adopted children, refusing to submit to the mockery of this sacred ceremony.
Yet the moment the dormant mountain suddenly exploded, the chaos of the day had quickly escalated far too quickly. Hot lava flowed down the mountain side, ash and smoke filled the air making it harder to breathe. How could Bloodystar not see that he had displeased the Sun God? How could he even think that it was the clan’s fault when he had been forcing them to bind their souls together. Her rage had slowly burned away inside of her, finally spilling out when he had ordered his guards to block off the only means of escape. He was going to kill them all. Weed’s mottled fur bristled, watching as Duskslayer tried to reason with him and knowing that there would be no reasoning this time. The initiate quickly ran from where she sat on the outskirts of the clearing towards the base of the rock that Bloodystar was standing on.
“It is your own foolish actions that have angered the Sun God...!” She snapped at him, her throat burning from the ash and smoke. “You have twisted what is meant to be a sacred ceremony, you have gone back on your own word to those that participated in the run to fulfill your own needs!” The tortoiseshell jumped up onto a smaller rock as she glared hatefully at her leader. She swept her paw over the clearing, as many of her clan mates started crowding around the only exit that would ensure their safety and survival. “Now you are ready to condemn them to death because you cannot see past what you have done! This has nothing to do with Littlecrow, or the clan’s unwillingness to follow your ridiculous commands! It is not the clan that is deluded, it is you! If you do not order Mountain and the others to stand aside we will all die! Sunclan’s time in the forest will end here and now, because of you! It will be you who is responsible for our very demise! The Sun God would not want this! He would not want to see his children suffer a torturous death because you feel as if there is something to prove! I would ask you to see reason if you weren’t already so terribly deluded!” Jadie
Bleedingheart was about to agree with Crownedstag and disappear with her kits for a few days. Then the volcano erupted, sending ash everywhere. Briefly she thought this was the end of the world and she was going die. That wasn’t so much of a problem but for the fact that her kits were back in camp, probably terrified and likely in danger. So she charged at the guards, ready to attack anyone who stood between her and her kits. Right now she would challenge Bloodystar himself if he stopped her. The bridge was the only path she knew, the Janus tunnels an unknown path to her. racer
Resilientbloom turned at the sound of the horrible scream, the white she cat rushing over to Brightdawn and Tawnyowl's side. She gasped at the horrific sight of the damage done to Brightdawn's forelegs.
"Oh Sun God." She whispered.
"Nobody go in the water!" She cried to everyone else. "It's boiling hot!"
But that left them with woefully few options and if the guards Bloodystar had picked chose to block the only way out they would all die.
"We have to get out of here!" She shouted trying to be heard over the din. "We have to leave!" FlurryofstarsracerJadie

Ferventprayer struggled in Discordantmelody's grasp blood beginning to bubble up from the claws as she was dragged towrads where Bloodystar had indicated. She spun around lashing at the she-cats muzzle with her claws trying to free herself "Leave me alone, I'm leaving!" she growled "chaotic heart or not" JetclawJadie -------------------------> Unseenlights slowly got her feet under her, as she listened to her mate's request "Be careful...be safe" she murmured softly returning his kiss. She would have to trust in him to get their other kids to safety and deal with the quickly deteriorating situation. She spun around, holding her head high and walking with an air of authority as she approached the guards to work on getting across the bridge. She couldn't falter, her mate needed her to get to their children and get them to safety, and she wasn't about to fail Duskslayer. @ifaith10 -------------------------> Darkpaw nodded, moving over to Soaringpaw and touching his nose to her cheek and motioned towards where Bravepaw laid crumpled on the ground. One of them needed to stay with him, and their father was right. He was far more suited to slipping through the crowd quickly and easily "Stay safe" His every instinct was screaming for him to stay at Soaringpaw's side, but there was no time to waste. Then he was off, slipping through the panicking cats with quiet ease due to his smaller size and agility until he finally arrived at where Perfectstorm and Blindfaith stood together, slithering until his pelt was brushing hers his eyes on Perfectstorm as he leaned in to whisper into her "We go, Bravepaw hurt... now..." Brightdawn's shriek of pain and terror, faded to pitiful whimpers as she was dragging from the waters edge.
Her entire body trembled from the pain, her eyes squeezed shut and her breaths coming in rapid gasps. Even as she laid in the grass the blisters seemed to be spreading up her legs every where she had contact with the water. There were splatters across her coat from where she had splashed it upwards. She still hadn't quite figured out what happened, the thick fog of pain around her clouding her mind.
"Tawneyowl..." she called for him, until she could feel his gentle touch against her back where the burns hadn't spread. The lava was coming, and there was no way she would be walking out of the ceremony springs on her own feet Flurryofstars

“I’m here, Brightdawn,” he said, trembling at her side. Seeing her in so much pain was awful and her spreading blisters only added to the terror. They needed to leave, but he couldn’t ask her to walk. She wouldn’t be able to anyway. What could he do? He wasn’t strong enough to carry her by himself and dragging her wouldn’t be fast enough. “We have to leave!” Resilientbloom’s voice snapped him back to the present and the chaos around them. She was the only cat that had come over to them. Maybe she could help.
“Please, help me with her. I can’t do this alone!” he shouted over the commotion, facing Resilientbloom with an expression of pure desperation. He’d beg if he had to. His gaze shifted from her to where the mass of cats were trying to rush past the guards and then finally back to Brightdawn. It all felt hopeless but they had to do something. Surely the guards would let them through now that Brightdawn was this injured. racerJetclaw
Handsomepaw hadn't exactly expected this.. but well, Cherrpaw was expecting his kits, and what was having a wedding today, instead of a bit later? They'd touched noses, so they were bound together one way or other. May as well make it official now, though he wondered how his mate-to-be would like the idea of sharing a wedding day with everyone else.
Cherrypaw grabbed Handsomepaw by the scruff, grip surprisingly strong. "Don't run away, sweetie!" she hissed. If everyone was panicking and running away, then maybe this was the perfect time to have a solo wedding after all! Cherrypaw would literally rather die in a fire before she let Bloodystar arrange her wedding on the same day as someone else's. "I don't care about the explosion! This it the only way we'll have a wedding day all to ourselves! Just marry us now, Bloodystar! Handsomepaw, doesn't the light from the fire look so romantic?"
Pineneedle was also there. "Oh dear," he said, "this is not ideal."
Handsomepaw turned slightly to Cherrypaw, looking at the she-cat like she was insane, though he chose to assume it was simply due to her pregnancy... He wriggled out from her grip, practically wrenching himself free, though rather than flee, he spun to face her, leaning forward to gingerly cup her cheek with his paw. "You know what's more romantic than fire?" He asked softly, staring into her eyes. "Our kits being there, all beautiful and dolled up to see us be married. Most beautiful kits in the forest." Handsomepaw suggested. "But yeah, sure we could stay and get married now... but do you really want to take the chance of Bloodystar trying to marry off half the clan on OUR wedding day? Call me jealous, but I don't even want to take the chance that we share." If there was one thing he knew about the she-cat, it was that she wouldn't listen to reason. So instead he appealed to her vanity and obsession with them as a couple. biyuu ☆彡
Mountainsound and Snapdragoncynosure were here, not that either wanted to be. In fact, Mountainsound had all but tried to lose the tom who was intent on following her around after he suggested they get married, looking absolutely disgusted with the idea, and grouchily telling the cat "I have a mate already. No." Of course, she hadn't expected basically fire and brimstone for a day... At least, something along apocalyptic lines was described to her by her daughter. At the screaming of a cat who had apparently burned themselves in the water, the pair turned, shoving through to get to Brightdawn, who they were nearer to than they'd initially thought.
"Here to help." Snadragoncynosure offered, glancing between Tawnyowl and Brightdawn, and looking extraordinarily concerned with the latter's condition. racerFlurryofstars
Bravepaw groaned, curling in on himself as he clutched his head. If the air around him was charged with static, then his mind was a lightning storm, and whispers of light that were perhaps just a trick of the smoke and fire from the explosion seemed to dance in and out of his anxiously puffed up fur. Faint glimmers like embers seeming to float from him into the air, there for a heartbeat and then gone before anyone really realized they existed in the first place. "They hurt. Too many." He whined, not able to explain to them what was going on with him, let alone able to get up or focus on the doom that was bound to befall them if they didn't leave as soon as possible. Jadie @samiam
Her expression said: That was a weird question to ask.
But she actually said: "Sure, sounds nice."
Valleyrose took a few steps away from the main crowd and sat down, her tail wrapped around her paws. Cats were yelling and screaming but that was nothing new for SunClan, she was pretty much desensitized to it, although she still kept her ears erect and alert for any signs of danger, "... Yeah looks like Bloodystar's done it again, haha... You've lived in SwiftClan before, right? Was Chimerastar anything like Bloodystar?"
"SwiftClan and SpringClan," Carnagepanic admitted shyly. He wasn't embarrassed about the number of clans he lived in, but rather ashamed of how much he missed his old hold. SunClan was .... nice, but the clan of his apprenticeship had been sweet and wonderful, even though he'd felt like an outsider the entire time. "Chimerastar was the opposite of Bloodystar, I think I only saw him a pawful of times, ever. He just didn't want to be around us and he didn't really run his clan at all. Thistlestar, he was sweet, but-"
His words were drowned out by the late booming of a volcano erupting above them. Carnagepanic was yanked to his paws before he was aware he had even moved, his fur on end and bristling, a wild fear in his eyes. "WHAT WAS THAT?!" He yelped. He could ignore the screaming before, but now that they were in imminent danger, he couldn't shake the terror from this nightmare come to life. His gaze fell on Brightdawn's legs and he shuddered, taking a step back and burying his face in Valleyrose's fur.
"What do we do," he moaned, shuddering. They couldn't leave, the tree bridge was blocked, and the water burned. They couldn't be safe here, though; he could feel the scorching heat in the air and the first bits of ash beginning to run down upon his coat. The only way out was to appease the Sun God, but would the marriage really work? At least it would convince Bloodystar to let them go, right? He tilted his head back so his watery mismatched gaze would meet hers. "Someone has to get married, now..."
“We could swarm the guards, they can only stop so many of us.” Bleedingheart turned to speak to Carnagepanic. The ash was dusting her coat and her eyes burned slightly from the gasses. The air smelled of burning foliage as what little had managed to regrown was incinerated by the lava. She feared that the lava that was pouring out was headed to the camp, hopefully by now the kits were already evacuated to somewhere safe. Yet she needed to check for herself. “I have to get to my kits, they must be terrified.” She turned to the large black tom next to her, looking for help. racerCleaver
"Can they?" Carnagepanic's voice trembled. "If they hurt you, then you can't escape fast enough, and you die. And if anyone tries to help you, they get stuck too." Bleedingheart may have more courage then he did, but she had a family to protect now. And he wasn't strong enough to fight anyone.
“Well it’s either fight and possibly get stuck or just wait here to be roasted alive.” She retorted, a little fed up with the lemming mentally of SunClan. Her children’s lives where on the line and she would rob Bloodystar of all his lives if it meant she could guarantee their safety. So with Crownedstag backing her up she charged at the guards. Normally she was not much of a fighter but now she was unstoppable, willing to kill or maim if necessary. Perhaps some of her clan mates would join her, realizing this was the only clear way off the island that soon may be surrounded by lava itself.
Saltpaw and Mistletoepaw had both arrived at the ceremony in an air of excitement. Even if neither of them had come out of the mate choosing ceremony, Saltpaw actually rather liked Lovelypaw and Mistletoepaw was more than happy to spend her whole life with her best friend. Both apprentices were young and naive and had little conviction in life other than to please Bloodystar and honor the Sun God, so if he said their souls were going to be bound together for all eternity than so be it.
As the volcano erupted, Mistletoepaw pressed into Enchantedpaw's side, fear churning in her stomach from not only the eruption but the chaos of their clanmates around them. She had believed in Bloodystar's authority her whole life, but watching the scene around her she began to doubt it for the first time, searching helplessly with her gaze for an escape route that didn't exist.
Saltpaw's conviction was not so easily swayed. "Bloodystar!" he said, choking on the ash particles that clouded the air. "We'll get married to appease the Sun God!" he said, doing his best to drag Lovelypaw through the crowd to where Bloodystar stood. Everyone was finally going to respect him when he saved them all from the apocalypse through the power of him and Lovelypaw's love. woof
