Balancedscale's scream echoed over the crowd the moment Darkpaw used his element, a loud, piercing sort of shout that Bloodystar was sure to hear as it was interrupting the High Priest's words. He quite literally dropped to the ground like a stone, curling into a ball and bawling his eyes out the moment the pain went away. "HELP ME, GET HIM AWAY FROM ME. DAD, HELP! PLEASE, HELP, SAVE ME!" Suddenly, there was nothing in the world scarier than the tom before him. Even though the pain had been brief, it was far worse than anything he could remember, save for the memory of what Darkpaw had done to him the day before, which only resurfaced at this new set of pain. The warrior was absolutely hysterical, though to anyone watching, Darkpaw hadn't done anything of note. racer
Bravepaw brushed himself lightly against Nocturnepaw's side, a giddy fluttery feeling rising in his chest as the tom brought a smile to his face with his mere presence. Of course, he didn't get to say much at all, before Bloodystar spoke, and the tom froze, one paw raised in the air, as the warm flutters faded, and a deep raging boil started in his blood. Not just for him either, Ferventprayer wanted to marry Tenebrousrequiem for a reason, and it infuriated him that the High Priest would do that to his own children, and of course, to Bravepaw's siblings. "WHAT THE HELL, BLOODYSTAR!? ABSOLUTELY NOT." In a way, Nocturnepaw's presence faded, though some part of him expected the tom would likely stay close to his side as he strode forth, his expression twisted in a rare form of anger. "NO. YOU'RE NOT FORCING MY SIBLINGS TO MARRY SOMEONE THEY DON'T WANT TO, AND YOU'RE NOT TEARING FERVENTPRAYER AWAY FROM THE TOM SHE LOVES!" @samiam Jadie

Silverdragon couldn't help but feel shocked when he heard his name. Soul binding? So soon? This has never happened before. Not only that, but he was forcing apprentices into this ceremony as well? How did he know that this was what they wanted? His eyes flashed briefly as anger welled inside him. Had the High Priest finally cracked? He was still getting to know Alios, and he knew for certain that he was nowhere near ready for such a step in what he had assumed was their budding relationship. It seemed as though he wasn't the only one that felt this way. "You cannot force something like this, Bloodystar." Silverdragon said, sitting firmly in his spot and making it clear that he would not move despite having been called. "Love cannot be forced to grow. You have no power over that. This ceremony is meant to be a choice, a vow between two cats that have agreed to it. Listen to your clan, to the young ones that you're forcing into this step. This is not a choice that they made. It is their life, their soul, and future you're toying with. Tenebrousrequim is right, you're breaking your own rules that you had set by promising Ferventprayer to another. They should be given the choice! " racer Paintedcanyon glanced over towards Magnoliablush as she moved closer to him. The tom wrapped his tail around her and nodded. "I'm afraid so... but this isn't right." The ginger tom said with a shake of his head. "Silverdragon and Tenebrousrequim are right... he's contradicting himself... and this ceremony... it's sacred. It's a big step in any relationship." Paintedcanyon glanced up at Bloodystar before he focused his gaze on Magnoliablush. "The Sun God wouldn't want this... he doesn't want this. He can't force us to do this..." racer
"Oh, calm down. You and Ferventprayer can still be more than friends. I'm sure Bravepaw wouldn't mind," Discordantmelody materialized at Tenebrousrequiem's side, her typical bemused smile on him face. She hadn't run - or, at least, no one had seen her run - during the Mate Choosing Ceremony so, like last year, she did not have a partner. Not that that bothered her in the slightest. She was a fling cat at heart, "He plays for the other team, after all. Oh, and I'm sure the two of us could have some fun..."
With that proclamation, the mostly black tortoiseshell brushed up against Tenebrousrequiem's free side, certainly too close for comfort. Jetclaw

Bloodystar had expected some backlash. After all, a few of his adoptive kits had failed in the mission he had given them to touch noses with Duskslayer's children and in fact had been paired with other cats entirely. It had been disappointing, but, as a High Priest, Bloodystar could paint history in whatever way he wanted. He had that kind of authority.
"While you may not have found each other in the traditional sense, have faith that the Sun God guided you together---" He began only to be interrupted by Balancedscale's screaming and then Bravepaw's on top of that. Bloodystar's ears flicked back in annoyance and he was tempted to mute their voices but, at this point, they'd made such a big scene that someone was bound to notice.
"Lionpride. I'm not sure what the problem is, but fix it." He said, eyes settling first on Littlestar's oldest son as he motioned toward Balancedscale, one of her youngest. One problem solved, he turned his attention to Bravepaw, who he had not expected to speak up. The weakest of Duskslayer's kits had always been among the most quiet. It was hard to believe that something like this was bothering him so much.
"Bravepaw. This is the Sun God's will. Surely you don't mean to go against it on this very special day?" Bloodystar had learned a lot during his moons as High Priest. His temper burned as brightly as ever, but it was much more controlled and thoughtful, "The rest of your siblings are in compliance. So long as we all put or God first, we will---"
"HELL NO WE AREN'T!" Soaringpaw interrupted him, finally pulling herself free of Balancescale's grasp and bounding over to Bravepaw's side, fire in her eyes, "You know, we've all put up with a lot of your schemes, but this one really is going too far! The Sun God is DEAD, how in the world do you know his will when he does't even exist anymore!?"
"--- we will continue to be the strongest Clan in the forest."
Bloodystar was now talking through gritted teeth. This. This was why kits needed to be raised in SunClan. Duskslayer had taught his spawn no proper SunClan manners and it showed. They thought too freely, acted too carelessly, and the Sun God was surely not first in their hearts as he should be. Marriage would certainly mellow them out.
"GET. IN. LINE." This time when he spoke he used his element to amplify his voice, so much so that it seemed to echo into all Duskslayer's kits' souls. It was not compelling by any means but it was intimidating, almost like being spoken to be a god itself but of course Bloodystar was just a second-rate imitation. racerHoneystorm
The tortoiseshell tom smiled warmly. “All of this is pretty quick,” he admitted. “I’m glad we’re taking things slow. Do you want to watch with me?”
Was that a dumb thing to say? This should be a happy occasion, but cats seemed so upset with their new mates. It felt a little insensitive to sit here and watch, but what else could they do?
His ears flattened as he heard Bloodystar’s order. “Oh, this isn’t going to end well,” he breathed.
Bleedingheart looked around nervously. While she had touched noses with Crownedstag and did like him, she was not ready by any means to hind her soul to him. Frankly she wasn’t sure if they would become mates or not. The brown tabby wanted to run yet she stood in line with the other she-cats, silent and watching Duskslayer’s children create chaos. This wasn’t right, he couldn’t force people to bind their souls, right? racer
Nocturnepaw found himself hurrying along side Bravepaw as the tom gave into his sudden rage. It had initially made Nocturne flinch away from his crush but, he wasn't afraid of the other tom. No in this moment he was afraid for him. Bad things happened to those who openly defied Bloodystar and he wasn't sure if Bravepaw would be the exception. As much as he wanted to call Bravepaw back, he held his tongue choosing instead to stand beside him more for morale support if anything.
"Are you sure about this?" he whispered low enough so that only Bravepaw could hear him. Honeystorm
Tenebrousrequiem twisted his head and glared at Discordantmelody, pelt bushing out. "Remove yourself from my presence. Ferventprayer is my mate, if she's going to do the Tying of the Knot Ceremony, she's doing it with me. And I will only be with her. No. One. Else." He said coldly.
He turned back to Bloodystar. "Unless the Sun God himself comes down and says he does, I don't believe you." He said. Pleased that others were also raising their voices against this. He might've joined Bravepaw in solidarity, the young cat had a backbone against Bloodystar. Good on him. "Ferventprayer will tie the knot with me, or she won't." He said firmly. "I know what she wants, and Bravepaw has made it clear what he wants."
But with Discordantmelody lurking nearby and clearly keen to be an obstacle, he didn't want to leave Ferventprayer's side. He didn't put it past Bloodystar to use other tricks.
His voice had been able to boom through the area with great power, who knew what else he might do.

Naturalgift followed Anemoneshade's gaze up to their leader for a moment before he turned back to her. They barely knew each other and to ask something like this from them so soon was just... extreme. No matter how strong his feelings were for her, even he knew it was too much of a commitment to dive blindly into. What's more, if she wanted to wait then he'd accept her decision. His expression softened as he watched her, knowing that just having her at his side was more than enough for him. "I think I'd like that too." strawberrycupid Tawnyowl hadn't even considered the possibility of this ceremony or going through it with Brightdawn. He could still barely comprehend that they were mates, so thinking about them long-term was nearly impossible to do this early on. Luckily, she seemed to think the ceremony was a bad idea too. Chuckling, he shot her a mischievous look. "Yeah, I skip out on these sorts of things all the time!" Briefly, he wondered if it was wise to go around gloating about that. Oh well. Soon enough, cats were shouting their protests to Bloodystar and Tawnyowl leaned over to Brightdawn again. "Now seems like a great time to leave, huh?" He almost forgot how insane this clan was. racer
It was the kind of tone that could silence an angry mob. The kind of stiff tone of voice that anyone with a fraction of a childhood could remember trembling to from their parents using at some time during a breaking point.
"Bro, your power knocked over our pieces, I'm trying to level up your mage here. I got you six plus strength by the way, not easy for a mage class to accomplish, I might add. But, just tone it down a little," Duskslayer suggested before turning back to Scorchedwhisker, "Nah man, that was great, your dramatic tone was spot on. I loved it, you should try it out more," He said, the corners of his smile were slid back in a teasing manner, but his kind gaze was reassuring to the warrior. He just needed some more confidence before getting into the feel of the catadog. And sure, his kids were getting married off, but he had made it clear that they could come get him if they needed him. But since Soaringpaw had made it clear that she would let him know and his other kits had made it clear they stood behind Soaringpaw he wasn't about to intervene. Not when they made it clear they had it handled, nor wanted him making decisions for them or offering them options they felt forced into agreeing with.
"Maybe the ocean," Blindfaith suggested with a shy smile, her paw stirring into the ground, bumping into his a few time, "I mean, I suppose you can say staring into my eyes is like already seeing one, but I think it could be fun. Maybe that's stupid though, it is cold out." Her ears twitched at Bloodystar's command, "Well, we'll have to think about it while we're both waiting. Are you sure you're okay? I can practically feel the heat coming off of you," Blindfaith said, extending a paw out to the toms face to check.

Scorchedwhisker shook his head, unphased by Duskyslayer's outburst. The siamese tom had expected it after their pieces had been knocked down. He stared out over the gathering, his face expressionless as he turned back to the game. "Man you'd think he'd be a bit more appreciative, you know?" He commented, leaning his cheek into his paw.
"Anyway, you think so?" Scorchedwhisker asked as he glanced back at his friend. "It's starting to get easier getting into character, but I think I should take some acting lessons from you... Oh yea, by the way, you think we should intervene or something? Your kids seem a bit... unnerved" The tom said with a flick of his tail. "Well, some of them, Blindfaith seems pretty at ease with the whole thing. Must get that from you." Faith
Her expression said: That was a weird question to ask.
But she actually said: "Sure, sounds nice."
Valleyrose took a few steps away from the main crowd and sat down, her tail wrapped around her paws. Cats were yelling and screaming but that was nothing new for SunClan, she was pretty much desensitized to it, although she still kept her ears erect and alert for any signs of danger, "... Yeah looks like Bloodystar's done it again, haha... You've lived in SwiftClan before, right? Was Chimerastar anything like Bloodystar?" Cleaver

"If our God shows up, it'll only make things worse," Discordantmelody leaned right back against Tenebrousrequim, her head rest on his shoulder. They really looked like a nice couple, emphasized by their similar dark pelts and fit physiques. She was a mature woman compared to the young and more child-like Ferventprayer, it really as a stark contrast, "That's the thing about Gods. They give the illusion that they are helping mortals like us, but they really are the root of all of our problems, right? Praying to them doesn't fix our problems really, it just makes them more likely to screw us over less. Or something like that. You'll understand someday."
She didn't really want to fight him, but, if he kept this up, she was prepared to. For now Discordanemlody would try to keep his distracted long enough for Bloodystar's plans to get going. Jetclaw
Ferventprayer seemed to be in complete shock, not that her name had been called but whom was called alongside her.... Bravepaw. It was like a shock had been sent through her system and even though she could see and hear everything going on around her she couldn't process it all. No.. she didn't want this, Bravepaw didn't want this. Her father's words echoing in her mind...
Ferventprayer, your pairing with Bravepaw is part of something bigger than you, him and even I. It is essential to the future of the Clan. I don't want to hear your excuses, I want to hear what you are going to do to fix this problem you've created
She thought she had fixed the problem. After she and Tenebrousrequiem had touched noses. That their union had been blessed by the Sun God, and that the shackles Bloodystar had tried to place on her and Bravepaw had been lifted. She was starting to shut down, only the feeling of Tenebrousrequiem's warmth at her side keep her tethered to reality. Not even registering Discordantmelody's presence as she gaze up at Bloodystar with one question on her mind
Perfectstorm wasn't entirely listening to Blindfaith. Between him asking and question and her answering it, chaos had broken out, cats were yelling at Bloodystar and he was yelling right back at them. All things he was used to, off course, but it made the fur raise along his spine and he gritted his teeth to stifle a growl. Why did everyone have to give the High Priest such a hard time?! Perfectstorm knew that everything his adoptive father did, he did for the sake of SunClan, even at great personal cost.
Scanning the crowd he realized that his sisters had not yet gotten into line. He had to do something about that. Without even a second though he stood up suddenly, however her shouldered Blindfaith right in the face when he did so. Oh Sun God. The massive silver-furred tom lowered himself to the ground and blinked the angry haze out of his eyes as best he could, "I'm so sorry... are you hurt?!" Faith

Darkpaw gave the tom one last glare, before taking off after his sister as she approached Bloodystar shouting her complaints. He stood by her side, his pelt bristled slightly outwards as finally Reilientbloom stood up for herself against her father. He nodded in agreement with her, this wasn't going to happen. He didn't choose the white she-cat, they could hardly even call their only encounter a date. Just sitting in awkward silence, before mutually deciding to leave. Even as Bloodystar told them to get into loud in his loud booming voice, his paws didn't budge. His lip curling up slightly as he stood his ground.
Darkpaw looked up at Bloodystar trying to judge the distance from where he stood and where the High Priest was. Taking in his surroundings, deciding how fast he would be able to make it there and if anyone would be able to stop him, but also not wanting to leave Soaringpaw on her own. Jadie

Alios watched as Silverdragon spoke, so he had finally found the answer out to her little riddle after all. She rose to her paws "the time for words is over" Bloodystar was past the point of being rational, "we have work to do" she quietly slipped through the crowd knowing he would follow. What they needed was a distraction, something to get Bloodystar's mind off of the marriages and onto something else. She didn't speak what she had in mind Nova ---------> Crownedstag made his way over to Bleedingheart "We don't have to do this" he mewed firmly "We can just walk out of her and go see your kits. There is no reason for us to stay here any longer" he glanced up at the High Priest who was getting yelled at by several other cats as they voiced their disagreement "Its not like we will be missed he has his paws full right now" @atomheart ---------> Brightdawn nodded in agreement "Race you?" she teased gently leaning in to touch her nose to his cheek, before turning to head towards the exit while the crowd was keeping Bloodystar's paws full Flurryofstars
Tenebrousrequiem glared at Discordantmelody. "Go. Away." He said shouldering her away from him before turning to Ferventprayer, trying to encourage her to move away from the weird she cat who had suddenly decided to attach herself to him.
"Don't leave my side." He told Ferventprayer, "This is madness, your father can't have it both ways." He stressed. It had been so hard to persuade Ferventprayer to accept him as her mate even though it meant going against Bloodystar.
He brushed his pelt against Ferventprayers. "We chose each other during the Mate Choosing Ceremony. The Sun God wherever he may be, approves. Your father clearly hears nothing but his own madness and calls it the word of the Sun God." He said. racerJadie
It was like something inside of Bravepaw was shattering. He barely spared a glance at Nocturnepaw, with a slight inclination of his head and a single word. "Absolutely." His heart raced, and yet, he wasn't afraid of Bloodystar anymore, as something felt like it cracked, deep down within his soul, farther than he ever knew existed. With each breath he took, it was like another piece chipped away, a burning searing pain that spurred him to continue on, refuse to back down, little bits and pieces of things filtering through in his mind, things only he could see as they slipped by almost too fast to latch onto.
"THIS IS NOT THE SUN GOD'S WILL, AND YOU KNOW IT. THIS IS WRONG, AND I WON'T BE PART OF IT!"
Bravepaw shouted at Bloodystar, to all the world looking like a reckless young tom who was just looking to get himself killed. Internally was a different story, as his anger seemed to have no bounds, and the angrier he got, the worst the pain in his skull seemed to be, until something instead his mind just crumbled, like a wall broken down, or an explosion going off. The apprentice doubled over then in front of his siblings and crush, crumbling to the ground a moment later and clutching his head. To any onlookers, it appeared Bravepaw was angry and raging against Bloodystar one moment, then the next he wasn't, laying on the ground much like Balancedscale, though Darkpaw had clearly done nothing to him. Certainly a lot less loud than the warrior Darkpaw had used his element on. Jadieracer @samiam
For a very brief moment after he doubled over, things were still. Then ground started to rumble, slightly at first, and increasingly so from there on, until there was a large explosion, cutting off any initial response Bloodystar intended to give.
KABOOM
Ash spewed into the air as what SunClan had previously thought was a large hill.. well, exploded. Or, erupted rather, an active volcano showing itself to the clan as magma sprayed into the air and began to pour over the volcano's edges and down its sides, deadly hot lava that would certainly kill a cat. Molten rock that was headed right for the Ceremony Springs and the cats there...

Silverdragon watched Alios for a moment before he got up. He calmly followed after her, knowing his brother would be fine and that he'd try and find Bleedingheart after hearing his name. The silver tom quickly made his way towards Alios' side, glancing at her from the corner of his eye. "Will I be privy to what it is you have-" His words were cut off as the ground began to shake. The tom glanced at the ground for a moment before he glanced back up at the dark black plume that had formed in the sky racer
He let panic seep into his tone for the first time since he arrived in this clan. He knew SunClan would never be an easy place to live judging by his parents stories of their time here and the state of the clan itself, but up until now Nocturnepaw had been brave. Allowing himself to roll with whatever was being thrown at him like water off a duck's back. What he hadn't expected was to grow close to anyone outside his littermates so quickly. Now seeing Bravepaw writhing in pain in front of him turned his blood to ice in his veins as dread over took him. Even as the ground beneath him began to tremble and quake, threatening to throw him off balance he albeit, barely managed to keep his footing and crouch down by the silvery, red striped cat.
"Its going to be okay, I promise it'll pass." The words trembled on his lips as he began to lap at the apprentice's fur, licking him between his ears in a desperate and probably feeble attempt to soothe him. Scared didn't even begin to cover it. His heart nearly exploding in his chest with the volcano, his fur fluffed out as if he had been electrified. His amber eyes were round with horror as he turned to see the hill spitting fire into the sky, only for it to flow rapidly towards them like a raging river.
His instincts to him to run, but he fought against them as he turned his attention back to Bravepaw. Nudging him urgently to his paws. "Please, get up, please." He begged him softly, trying his best to swallow his growing terror. Honeystorm

"No..." Ferventprayer finally replied, the shock of the explosion snapping her out of her chance. She tipped her head upwards intertwining her tail with Tenebrousrequiem until she met her father's gaze "I will not marry Bravepaw. I will not get in line" her voice was firm and unwavering as her mind was made up, the indecisiveness having fled from her voice. She turned to Tenebrousrequiem "We are leaving" she turned, staying close to his side "I will not be apart of this any more" as they walked towards the exit, trying to ignore the urge to turn around to see her father's reaction, knowing all to well what it was that awaited her when she did. Just one more step. She repeated over and over again in her mind. JetclawJadie -------------------------------> Darkpaw's ears flattened at the explosion, causing him to drop into a defensive couch with a hiss the bright light from the lava reflecting in the blue of his eyes. Bloodystar he could fight against. His followers he could fight against.. But this? He could feel his heart beating in his chest, he needed to get Soaringpaw and his other siblings as far away from here as possible. He looked between her and Bravepaw, giving her a nudge on her shoulder "Time to go" Jadie -------------------------------> Unseenlights had been hovering near Duskslayer when the explosion went off. The sound so loud that it left her ears ringing, causing her to be completley disoriented with two of her sense rendered useless. They had both agreed to take a step back and let things play out until their children asked them for help, even though it caused her heart to ache. She wanted to fix this for them, but the choice had been theirs. She crouched down, ears flattened as she pressed herself against her mate "What just happened?" Faith
