"This is either the best idea I've ever had or the worst idea I've ever had," Cradlegrave muttered, sorting through the objects lying on the mat in front of him one final time. Some of it was essentially trash that wouldn't hold any worth unless someone liked garishly bright colours, but some of it he could imagine having actual purposes; broken glass and barbed wire could be used to lay traps, kittypet food was edible (if not mildly disgusting), blankets could be used in nests and keeping a den warm during winter...even though winter had just passed. He sighed. Eventually we'll get it worked out, he thought to himself, and resigned himself to waiting.

"How much do you all wanna bet some rogues are trying to make another arena out here?" Funk E'tan asked the members of his staff that decided to tag along for this little adventure. Things weren't great, but they were settling down. Food has become somewhat more common as twolegs began to move into the rebuilt city. But it was astonishing how many places were still rundown, not even touched by the construction company. For instance, the huge amusement park that was crammed between Primal Instinct and Dayclan's territory. Recently, a few patrols had mentioned hearing sounds coming from it, but didn't bother to investigate it. It made Funk wonder why he even bothered putting out patrols if he wasn't a part of. So he made a half hearted announcement where a few decided to follow him. But the one thing he wasn't expecting was the overwhelming yet familiar smell of a clan. It gnawed at the back of his mind but he couldn't place it as he approached the cat sitting behind the mat. "Ah, a new face around here. How bad were you whipped to end up in a place like this?"

Regulus followed behind Funk silently and watchful, curious to see what would happen. The scent of so many cats put the warden on slight edge but didn't show it. He came with Funk as a back up and as a way of seeing how Funk would handle a situation like this. The big tom hadn't been to the amusement park himself partially because it was such a creepy place that felt off to him. That and he wasn't a huge fan of tall metals overlooking everything. Why were two legs so weird and wasteful, leaving behing abandoned ruins like this? Getting back on track he watched the unknown feline intently wondering what he would say next.

i just wanna say its really funny both leaders just have their massive deputies with them x3 )
"Either way something will come of it," chuffed the large silver tabby. He licked down the tufts of hair on his chest that had become disheveled on their trip carrying all the assorted items. Heavypetal watched over his leader, himself unsure what half the items could be used for. But some cats were an odd bunch, maybe theyd find something to do with it all. He just hoped that whatever cats they stumbled across wouldnt want a fight. He still had plenty of work to do after their journey to the abandoned twoleg camp that he had yet to properly rest. He could stand his own, but he wouldnt be going home and bragging about anything that was for sure.
"Well if it isn't Funk E'tan; the cat, the myth, the legend himself!" Sliprabbit let out a good-natured laugh from where she was sprawled along a branch overhead; bright green leaves just beginning to sprout from its twigs. Her soft, feather-like tail swung back and forth in mid-air, and occasionally during their wait she'd try and tickle Cradlegrave and Heavypetal's ears with it for fun. Those two were way too uptight sometimes. Honestly, interacting with Primal Instinct wasn't exactly her idea of a fun afternoon, but Scouts were supposed to be diplomatic apparently, so she thought she'd give it a go.
Cradlegrave dipped his head in what he hoped was a respectful greeting. Then he said, "Hiya," which ruined all the respectfulness he'd been trying to convey. "The name's Cradlegrave. This here's the deputy Heavypetal, and that's one of our scouts, Sliprabbit. We're from--SwiftClan, remember us? It's been a minute, but we just moved back into the forest." Was there an underlying current of that means we're neighbours now, please don't try to kill us to his tone? He hoped there was.
He coughed. "Been lookin' to trade a bit," he said, gesturing out to the items laid before them. "That, or at least get to know each other a little better. Our stock is changin' all the time, given how we scout out for things."

(two tiny leader bois with their big deputies)
The first one that called out to him was a she-cat laying on the ground. Though, looking over everyone, he realized he had no idea who these cats were. They knew him, which they obviously should. He's Funk E'tan. Come on. But them? Nah. Was he supposed to? Funk looked back for a moment, about to ask Regulus if he knew when they finally said. Swiftclan.
The name made him whip his head back around. His gaze hung on each of them for a moment, before moving on to the next. If this was Swiftclan, then where was his good buddy Chimerastar? And... okay he only knew Chim but still. "Never would have expected Swiftclan to come back, let alone move so close to us. I take it this wasn't Chimerastar's idea?"
"No, not his. He's...y'know." Cradlegrave paused. "He's out there somewhere. Livin' it up. Maybe a beach. Seems like a beachy-kinda guy." He paused again. Were they buying this? Probably not. "We've been through some rough times as of recent, is my point. That's why we're takin' initiative and reachin' out this time. Also we were gettin' tired of livin' in a ditch and the amusement park was the best thing we could find in the forest on such short notice."

Regulus had heard of Swiftclan but he didn't take them super serious. That wasn't to say he was so laxed they weren't a possible threat but they just seemed too...goofy. Well except Heavypetal, now that tom was quiet but he probably had some decent muscle to him. If he was able to use that though was another question entirely. So this clan wanted to trade with them? He remained quiet letting Funk do the talking and decision making but a question that was wondering in his head was what did they have to offer that was worth trading? And how trust worthy were these cats anyway?

Heavypetal's brows furrowed as he noticed Funk-E'tans partner sizing him up, he didnt know either cat, and without Sliprabbit's introduction he wouldnt even know the one. He set his jaw, keeping a straight face as he staved off the bristling feeling crawling over his pelt. He kept his hackles from raising and offered a deep nod of greeting to the equally large smokey tom, staying silent as not to interrupt Cradlegrave.

"So he died, huh." Any assumption Funk bought it was thrown out the window immediately as he let out a sigh. An expression that was hard to read draped over his face. One mixed with confusion and grief, but it was only for a moment as his grin returned to his face. "Guess leaving during that cat's reign really didn't help. Still, at least Chim's happy he's away from me for now." The Nemesis ended his sentence with a dry laugh, "and that he got to see him again. But I digress."
He was pleasantly aware of the staring contest next to him, but decided to not acknowledge it for now. Funk looked over their wares, his mind already racing with what he could use it for. How far he could push a piece of glass into a thigh, or how quick a simply loop of barbed wire around a cat's neck would have them beg for anything. If he cut himself on a piece of metal, he didn't notice. "Well, we're always open to barter. Looks like this place has better stuff than I thought. What are you people looking for in return? Just anything?"
"I told you man, he's at the beach," Cradlegrave muttered, before clearing his throat and continuing. "To be honest, all we're really lookin' for at this point is some reassurance," he said. "We're comin' back to the forest for the first time after gettin' driven out, so we're lookin' for backup if things go sour for us again anytime soon." He paused. "But we won't say no to a beach party or somethin'."

"Ah." Funk E'tan deadpanned. That was, not very climactic. Swiftclan never seemed to take up on the drama just dropped in front of them, it made them more boring than interesting. But to Funk, everything was more interesting with a few lies sprinkled in. "Guess that makes sense too." Well, at least he could find Chimerastar again one day. Shame his ball and chain was still in the city.
The mention of an alliance made him cock his head to the side. It was possible. As the League slowly became more rogue like, and Starclan had a hissy fit, he wasn't sure what the other clans saw them as. Granted, Funk still had his alliance with Dayclan and the Regime in his back pocket, but it appeared they weren't in any better shape at the moment. He cast a courtesy glance over his shoulder at Regulus, wondering if the warden would say anything. "Well, I for one can never say no to a party. We may as well celebrate most of you coming back in one piece, after all. May have to go 50/50 on food though. We're still trying to find out what's edible around here. What was that thing Venti and them found? A crab. Yeah who knows if you can eat that."
"Those gross-lookin' spider things with the hard shell?" Cradlegrave asked, making a face. They reminded him of some of the more scaley things in the desert he used to live, except more horrifying to look at. The only reason he even dared find out what they were called was so he could avoid them for the rest of his forseeable future.
"I heard Pastelchaos in our Clan cracked a tooth tryin' to eat one. Geex, maybe that's how Chim died--I mean, why he isn't around her anymore and is instead at the beach. Because that's where he is." Why did he keep bringing up the beach? Was Cradlegrave going to talk with every leader like this? "...Okay, we don't really know where he is. But don't you think he seems like the kind of guy who would be sunnin' it up at the beach?"
Regulus noticed the glance from Funk so started to clear his throat before Cradlegrave spoke again. So Chim was missing? Interesting but still didn't change much for the possible alliance of PI and Swiftclan. If Chim was missing he probably just got tired of the nonsense and wanted to be left alone. The warden had met cats in his loner days who had been like that, running away from problems and issues just to ease their own minds. "I wouldn't know. I never met the guy but from what it sounds like he probably wanted to get away from everyone. I don't know why nor do I care...but sure yea I agree with Funk. A beach party sounds fun. Great." Realizing that it didn't sounds genuine he added," No truly it does sounds like fun...I'm just not one to show enthusiasm that well." Which was true, Regulus was a terrible individual to show excitement or anything of the such. After an awkward pause the warden said, "Must be great to be back in the area. I bet it feels good to finally settle down somewhere for once."

Heavypetal found himself silently agreeing with the other second-in-commands' comments, "Its better than being on your paws all the time, thats for sure," he affirmed, a small smile on his normally flat face. Maybe the other group wasn't so bad, they seemed to have some sense to them, especially the larger of the two, maybe he wasn't so bad either, he thought to himself, "We could bring kits even, maybe give swimming lessons." he added, looking towards Cradlegrave to see if he had anything else to input, "It would be a real peaceful thing, no competition, we could bring prey to share even."

"We splitting that duty 50 50 though." Funk interjected with a smile. Old Swiftclan had a habit of freeloading, and Primal Instinct was just not in the position to deal with that right now. It made him a bit glad Chimera had disappeared, it felt more likely that Cradlegrave would agree.

"We wouldn't have it any other way," agreed the large silver tabby, turning back to look their leader over, "I'll set the warriors about hunting in surplus the night before, no reason to make anyone do all the work, we can pull our own weight." he decided, his tail tip flicking. Maybe there was some competition, but only for himself. He was determined to make sure that his clan wasn't seen as a weak one, even though they had a a large, colourful batch of members, Swiftclan could hold their own as well as any.

He had been looking at Cradlegrave, but when Heavypetal gave his gruff confirmation, Funk leaned back with a nod. Well, at least Chimerastar didn't rub his freeloading ways onto them. "Same." He looked up to Regulus, "Remind me we'll have the hunters check south first before heading north. We don't want some clan crashing the party to claim we stole from them."
