Secretpaw waited patiently for his mentor, his slick gray fur shimmering in the sunlight. He considered it an honor to have the leader as his mentor, even though it meant he would get less individual attention with all the duties Cradlegrave would have to attend to. While his mentor was busy he had been working hard on his hunting crouch with one of the other warriors, hoping to impress Cradlegrave when he got ready to start teaching him. biyuu ☆彡
Cradlegrave did a double-take as he saw Secretpaw waiting. Most young people he knew back home weren't so eager to start taking up training duties, but he supposed there was a different culture within the Clans. Either that or Secretpaw was just very eager to get going. Both possibilities scared him.
"Sorry to keep you waitin'," he said, "I got waylaid with some...stuff." That stuff had been him trying to get the bedding in his den perfect and losing track of time, but Secretpaw didn't need to know that. "Alright kid, you got your pick of the stuff we gotta cover today--territory tour, or your first huntin' an' fightin' lesson?"

"I will put my fate in your paws" he replied, eyes shimmering "You are my mentor and I trust your judgement" The young cat smiled respectfully, dipping his head down. Back in SunClan apprentices didn't get an option of picking what you were doing, and it was ingrained in young cats to simply trust that their mentor was doing their best to guide them
Oh, hell, Cradlegrave thought to himself, I am so screwed.
“Alright,” he said, in a voice that he hoped displayed at least a little more confidence than what he really felt. “Well, my judgement is that, uh, we’re doin’ some fightin’ trainin’. Because...” Because you’re too tired to walk all over the territory? “...Because I don’t want SwiftClan getting their asses kicked again. Come on, let’s go to the big open area by the hangin’ chairs and see what you got.”
Oh hell, they're one of those excitable kids. Cradlegrave had never known how to deal with those types. He used to try and find an excuse to get himself away as quickly as possible, but he'd already signed himself up as Secretpaw's mentor, which meant he just had to put on his big boy pants and figure out how to adapt.
"First great choice I've made in a while," he called out, catching up to Secretpaw. "Alright, I want you to come at me with everythin' you got. No holdin' back, you hear me? Just do...whatever you think fightin' is."
