Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(This is where Dusky gets stuck in the Regime's bootcamp and when Shule and Sean set Huntleigh up to decide when Dusky's learned his lesson and set up tasks for him. So Huntleigh can already be there off to the side waiting, but not know they're going to let him decide Dusky's bootcamp sentencing)
Duskslayer had heard about his sister moving into DayClan, which meant that now all of his siblings except for Kotori and Zakiyyah resided there. With the clan only being a few paw steps away from SunClan he had headed over to spend the day with them. The opportunity to have all his siblings in one place was a little too rare to pass up on after all. By the time the fun was over it was dark when Dusky started the trek back to SunClan. Staring up at the moon in the sky it reflected the crescent marking on his face. He always wondered how SunClan could hate the moon and stars when they held an almost mythical twinkle to them in the midnight blue oasis above.
Just as he was about to enter the golden pastures he stopped at the sound of a low pssst. He leapt back, not out of being startled, but purely to distance himself from the sound when he spotted that it was his father, one of two that is. "Dad?"
"Your mom wants to talk to you, we're all living in the underground forest, you can follow me back," Sean said with a wave of his paw.
Glancing towards SunClan and then back at Sean he walked beside him heading down the tunnel that the origin superior had come from. Normally he would have easily walked away, but his parents hardly asked of anything from him. Plus if they were living under DayClan things had to have gotten bad, Huntleigh's life could be in danger.
Sean walked Dusky up to where Shule was before standing beside her.
"Is Huntleigh alright, is everyone okay?" Dusky asked, stopping short in front of his mother with a concerned expression caught in his exotic turquoise gaze.
"Huntleigh's fine, the Regime moved here to keep from starvation, but that's being handled." Shule explained, though her tone was cool enough to likely stop Dusky in his tracks and make him consider why she'd called him here. The Commander didn't exactly look pleased. "We're not here to talk about the Regime though, the topic of today is you, actually."
She decided against jumping straight into the exact reasoning, there was a few others she wanted to ask about first, and whatever frigidness she portrayed seemed to melt away, as though nothing were wrong in the first place. "How're the kits doing? Damek, Astrid, Allaria, Hakoda? How's Unseenlights? I haven't heard from them." Shule knew he wouldn't ever let harm come to them, that much she could be certain of. She still wanted to hear what was going on from him, first, perhaps as a sort of self assurance.

Huntleigh didn't come out right away. Nah, he was too busy seething. Just what were his grandparent's thinking? It was Sean that brought him here. Why? And what was he trying to pull with that whole is Huntleigh alright thing? It made his breath stutter in his throat. But he had to stay calm. There had to be a good reason, right? Blue eyes stayed shut as he watched from his corner.
Dusky lifted his paw above the ground just slightly at the mention that he would be today's topic. What did that mean? Was she disappointed in him?
"Well," He said shortly, taking in the energy flowing off of his parents before replying more honestly once he was sure this wasn't a threatening situation to his family, "Well is such an instinctual thing to say, but no, I don't really mean that. They kids are growing up, but still young, unhappy with the world, and resent everyone older for making it this way. So y'know, it was going to feel like the end of the world for them whether it really was or wasn't. Ummm, Allaria's at that, I-Hate-My-Dad phase so she hangs out with Hakoda largely. Hakoda's very silent, reminds me a lot of you, I think he's doing the best out of the bunch, but he's hard to read. Astrid's blind now because she traded her sight for powers, which reminded me a lot of Glowstar. And Damek's a god now, but I think his existential crisis is coming along as good as one can. Light's is good though, just stressed out like I am, we wanted to move, but the kids want to stay so we're pretty much at odds."
Sean stayed silent for just a moment before motioning with his paw for Dusky to continue, "Oh, it's just gonna end there. What do you mean Astrid's blind and Damek's a god now!? How could you put that on them?"
"I like how you assume Lights couldn't possibly have anything to do with it."
"Don't joke about this! Astrid will never be able to see again and what is Damek going to do having that much pressure on him? What are you going to do about any of that?" Sean demanded.
"We'll be there for them, Damek needs me and Astrid needs her mo-"
"You were there for them before and this happened, how long before it's Allaria or Hakoda?"
Dusky's fur for just a moment bristled, but the movement was so light it was almost unnoticeable, but his voice came out relaxed as always "Astrid woke up blind and Damek was born that way. I won't invent guilt or blame myself for bringing them to SunClan, there was never going to be a good decision. If I didn't give them a choice they would resent the lack of freedom to choose. They could have left on their own like Loelia had or grow up hating the Regime feeling they belonged somewhere else. Or I could have not gone to SunClan, let someone as cruel as Bloodystar take charge and further assist in the genocide against entire families that I grew up with. I don't regret my actions or inactions," He said evenly, but his gaze moved over to Huntleigh, noticing him huddled off in the corner. He probably wanted him to regret everything though.
Shule watched the interaction in silence, her cool gaze staring at her son, emotionless. In fact, the only movement she made was to rest her tail across Sean's shoulders. "Regardless of regret or not, you directly aided in the harm Bloodystar did, Dusky. You were in a position of power, and to let him get away with such evils makes you as guilty as he. And actions, or inactions, they do have consequences." Her tail gave the slightest twitch, and Duskslayer would likely notice a few figures lurking just out of sight. Trapped.
The Commander regarded him silently. "Recently, the Regime has begun a new program. A re-training rank, of sorts. Kotori is going through it himself, and I believe you need to take this time to reflect." She glanced at her grandson, then back at Dusky. "Huntleigh will determine when you've learned your lesson and are free to go."
"I have none," Dusky said immediately, at least feeling slightly at ease when she added or not. But that hardly made up for the fact that she was singling him out for not doing more, like realistically doing more would have worked. However his mom always had a sense of ownership over him and his siblings, like no matter how old they got they would always get corrected by her.
He relaxed seeing more cats creep out from the darkness, this was just going to happen no matter what. He thought about telling her that he was going to be a SunClan cat again for his family who wanted to stay, but decided against it. He would just be grounded in prison so being assigned to do chores would do. Plus he could feel just how purposeful the aim for Huntleigh deciding things was. If his son wanted to lash out at him and his parents were upset with him leaving Huntleigh, that, out of everything was fair.
Dusky dipped his head to Commander Shule, "I understand why you had to spring this on me, but Lights doesn't deserve to feel like I abandoned our family when things got hard. I know there's no other option, but to accept what you've told me, but I would like her to know immediately. And not a messenger, I want her to know, not some random SunClan cat informed at the border who's going to forget to tell her. Can you do that for my family?"
(If she agrees we can just say that rain flooded the area keeping the Regime from being able to tell Lights right away and thus why Brave worried and began searching. Just to keep things consistent, but in character for everyone)
Shule tilted her head slightly in a nod at his request. "Of course." She promised. "I wouldn't want to worry her or your kits." Punishment or not, she wasn't so cruel as to leave her daughter in law and grandchildren to fear for Dusky's safety because he up and disappeared on them.
