Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Raiser - or was her title Auxiliary now? Commander Shule had made so many changes lately - Laela Escale strolled through the snow-covered fields above the Regime's tunnels at a leisurely pace. Normally she could walk a little bit faster than this, but her small stature and fluffy cloud-white fur had caused the young she-cat to blend into the environment and nearly get lost a couple times already. After the second or third time she resolved to stick closer to her companions, but as her soft green eyes scanned the world around her, she continued to get distracted by her tyke-like wonderment. It wasn't often she went farther than the Garden or even Post Kilo nowadays. She'd long accepted that it was for her own safety, but she always did miss seeing that endless blue sky. Honestly, she was lucky that Commander Shule had given permission for her to go to the surface at all, though that was probably only because her 'bodyguards' had volunteered to go with her. After walking in comfortable silence for a couple of minutes, she glanced back at the cats with her, a bright smile on her face. "I know I've probably said it a million times already, but thank you so much for coming up here with me! I'm certain we're going to find a bunch of fun stuff that the tykes will love playing with." There was a slight wheezing in her voice as she purred, though if the cold air bothered her at all, Laela didn't seem to show it.
‘Volunteer’ was a stretch when it came to the youngest of the dysfunctional Escale brothers. The last thing he wanted was to accompany anyone to the surface. Any other time, when he was alone, he’d have loved to venture around and see what trouble he could stir up — but having to stick close to family made the skin under his pelt itch and barely bridled fury bubble under the surface like water in a kettle, just about to steam and let out a scream.
“I could have been doing much better things with my time, Laela, so please do continue thanking me, it’s the only sliver of happiness this torture session’s allowing me.” The tom drawled, unusually talkative, though it may have been because he was fishing to rile some spirits.

The white tom padded alongside his cousin, hovering at a distance as not to seem too overbearing. Or, try was the right definition for it. He was in a constant state of worry for her -- something he didn't particularly share with his brothers. He barley even twitched an ear at Septimus's comment, wanting very dearly to snap back but knowing it wasn't even worth it. Hoping his expression didn't give away his annoyance, he instead fluttered nervously ahead of his sister as a stray branch lay hidden before them.
"Careful," he commented, dutifully pushing it aside. Quartus then turned his pale eyes to her, his expression serious, and yet hiding a bit of softness to it. "I'm sure we'll find a few things here and there. You shouldn't come up here too often, though I wouldn't mind helping you every so often. It's quite nice, coming up here for a bit of peace from the chaos below."
The tom rolled his eyes. Quartus was like a new parent, constantly fretting over the smallest thing. Now all that was missing was for his brother to throw himself into the nearest puddle so their cousin could walk over him to avoid getting her dainty little paws wet. Now that did bring an ounce of joy to him, as was evident by the small smirk that twitched his lips.
"Whatever would our cousin do without you, Quartus?" He drawled. "It's a wonder she's managed to do anything without you."
"Awww, don't be such a grumpy goose, Septimus," Laela giggled at the unhappy tom. "I'm sure this trip will turn out to be a ton of fun, you'll see." She paused in mid-step as Quartus suddenly bounded ahead to save her from...a stray branch in the path. Despite knowing the place of genuine concern for her safety that the gesture came from, the Raiser couldn't help but let out a small snort of both amusement at Septimus' sarcastic quip, and exasperation at her other cousin's overprotectiveness. She was to stranger to being fretted and hovered over; that's just what tended to happen when you were completely bedridden from sickness for half of your life. "Well, I appreciate it, Quartus," she mewed, stepping forward to give Quartus a fond nuzzle before shooting a teasing look back at Septimus. "I am quite delicate, you know."

"My my look at the manners you have Quartus, perhaps Septimus could learn from you. " Replied the Eldest Escale brother in a teasing manner. In contrast to Laela's fluffy cloud like fur was his dark shadow like pelt, and his golden eyes quirked with mischief in them. "I agree with Laela on this one and definitely think this will be a blast." Primus lightly shoulder bumped Septimus but gave him a kind smile before turning to his other brother. "Look we are here to protect Laela but I bet she is tired of constantly being treated like a young tyke. We will be careful but give her the best time she has had in a long while. To let her be a cat like any other. I know we got this boys." Primus was glad to be with them all spending time with his cousin and brothers, whom he really cared about.
Septimus scoffed to the side, turning his head away from his brother’s irritating smile and words that — on anyone else — would be seen as soothing and wise, but to him, sounded like claws on stone. There were a million things the tom wanted to snap back, but he struggled to find the words to voice them, causing him to — in one of the rare moments of his life — go speechless. Oh, how he was sure his brothers would revel in this victory. He’d get back at them. They’d resent this moment in their waking dreams.

The large tom seemed to simmer a bit, his expression turning gloomy at Primus's words. A small, little humm was made at the back of his throat before he said, "Oh, all right, I guess... I just -- if she gets hurt..." he trailed off, not wanting to voice his own thoughts. Instead, he set himself to try and relax a bit, casting a glance back at his brother. He nearly snorted in laughter; his face seemed to be twisted in a grimace. And, remarkably, for once, an annoying quip didn't fly past his tongue. With a sly grin, he foxused on the clouds above and exclaimed dramatically, "Wow, it sure is a beautifully quiet day today, for once. I can't imagine anything breaking this silence, truly."

"Can't imagine I agree," Primus chuckled. Nothing could be quiet with Quartus around that was for sure, but the tom didn't mind it all that much. Septimus was also quiet but Primus didn't think much of it nor notice the silent anger his brother had towards him. Instead Primus turned to his cousin with a curious expression on his face. "What would you like to do while we are out and about Laela? This is your day after all and you don't get to do all that much. So within reason we can do almost anything you would like to do. What does your heart desire at this very moment?"
"Good grief, you three." Laela huffed under her breath, rolling her eyes as the brother exchanged sarcastic quips. They couldn't seem to go five whole minutes without ribbing on each other. Was that normal for brothers, or was it just her cousins? She honestly couldn't remember her own brothers acting like this as tykes. Her train of thought was interrupted by Primus' question, and the she-cat immediately brightened. "Well, I definitely want to gather some fresh bedding and toys for the little ones," she explained matter-of-factly. In spite of her physical shortcomings, the youngest Escale was extremely proud of her role as a Raiser - the position her own mother had held before her. "Buuuut," she continued. "I also wanna see if we can find some early blooming flowers. I heard that the Mountain Clans grow and wear their own flowers to celebrate the warm season, so I was thinking that might be a fun way to make the tunnels more colorful too!" And in more ways than one, she was as young at heart as the very tykes she cared for.

Primus looked at his cousin in interest but thought about her request thoroughly before responding. "Well...if we are careful we can see about getting blooming flowers. Your request isn't all that unreasonable, but we still need to be careful. Luckily you have us three strong, rugged, good looking cousins with you." He snickered at his remark. Okay so at least one of them had the good looks around here. "We can also find bedding and toys for the tykes as well. I trust you know what exaclty to look for since I'm not 100% sure what they like for bedding or to play with."
