He grinned, and it appeared to be almost wolfish. That is to say, he did particularly have an excuse to smile in that way, anyways. Most of the time, if Kazemir wore a grin the way he was now, it would imply trouble. Maybe headaches, and a fear for what he'd possibly gotten into now. But instead, he clutched something in his mouth. A very large, very dead looking rabbit. It was half his body size, and he gave a protesting 'oomf' as his companion broke off from him. With an incredulous look, he looked after his hunting partner with a pout.
"Carry it yourself, I'm going to get this paw checked. You ought to be more careful," snapped an irritable tufty furred silver tom. With that, Kazemir watched Tavian go with an almost kicked puppy expression, feeling absolutely rotten. He'd managed to find a friend in the steady, resourceful tom. Had even found comfort in him. And there he had to go, messing that up to. With a frown, he grimaced and hauled his prey forward with much less gusto, left to worry about things he ought not worry about.
The small shape of a black and white she cat was padding by, moving with her own thing of prey locked in her jaws. It was squirrel, much smaller in size than the rabbit, but for a single feline of her size the catch was considerably impressive. Even still, as she passed by the tom she paused, looking at the tom's own haul with an emotion that seemed hard to decipher, but seemed nontheless interested by the impressive size of the rabbit the tom was bringing by -- as far as Landynna could tell -- his lonesome.
Gently setting down her prey as to not speak with a mouth full of fur, she gave the tom and the prey one last once-over. "Nice catch." She complimented. "What's the story behind that?"

Instantly pulled from his reverie, the tom shifted slightly and smiled impishly as he replied, "A tale of danger, woes, defeat -- but, even better, with a hint of heroism and bravery." His voice held is usual light, carefree air to it, his expression bright as he cast her a wink. And then, as if entirely forgetting his previous statement, he amended, "That is to say, we got lucky and spotted this beast of a rabbit. No idea why it had wandered down here. My hunting partner scraped up his paw during the hunt, but we got it in the end."
Remarkably, he could recollect that the rabbit had been vicious in its life. Truly a rabbit to be proud of, for sure. And then again, he'd never known a rabbit to be quite as hostile, he himself had a few minor bruises and scrapes to prove so.
"Ah. Well that sucks for him. Probably worth it though for the size of that thing. So long as the scrape wasn't too terrible he should be able to walk it off soon and hunt another day, and that'll make good food for the regime for a while." Landynna said, her voice relatively laid back as she once more have the rabbit, and then the tom, one more look over. This time, actually noticing the cuts and scrapes.
"Look like it gave you some hell when catching it too." Landynna remarked. The she cat was used to hunting rabbits, the pros of a slender and lithe build that allowed her to better keep up. She was all too aware how agressive rabbits could occasionally be, and how wary you had to be about being kicked by those strong back legs or getting yourself cut by their claws. Even still, the she cat couldn't help but think that was a pretty ugly take-away of wounds for a rabbit that came from a duel hunting pair.

He eyed her for a moment, watching her as she talked with a little hint of nervousness. He wasn't entirely a smart cat, but he knew she probably wasn't entirely convinced that rabbit could have scraped them both up in this way. But there was no way he would tell the truth, and get both himself and Tav in trouble. Deciding to change the subject, he deftly smiled and observed her with a wolfish grin. "What about you? Any heroic tales of how you managed to catch your prey? Were you teetering on the edge of a cliff, barley able to hang on before you managed to climb free with your catch?"
