WHAT'S THE HISTORY BETWEEN THE TRIALS AND THE INEI FAMILY? +

Madame Lethe (the adult character and matriarch of the Inei family) grew up on legends of cats who, at one time, could control the elements. It went from a fantasy told to her as a bedtime story to something she fixated on when her world turned upside down with the trauma she went through before she met Allerick and had her two children, Lorcan and Ryuu. In a twisted way, she wanted to believe these cats were real and was always on the search for them whenever she could spare time between her duties to her family and to the league. On her journeys, she would occasionally stumble upon a kit. In her mind, because of how these kits look and their personalities, she was convinced they were the descendants of these legendary cats.

Thus why they’re called trials. They’re children, yes, but they’re more experiments to discover the unknown than anything else to Lethe. That’s why for the rest of the Inei family, they view the trials in different ways than Lethe, but have no real power over how they’re treated because she’s the matriarch of the family. What she says goes. Because of this, Allerick and Lethe frequently fight over the trials. He loves Lethe and she loves him and they could never be parted, but the trials are a wall between them. In the end, the trials don’t have any sort of elemental power or anything of the sort, it’s a persona Lethe’s placed upon them because of her beliefs.

Some of them may believe it’s true, some of them may see the truth in Lethe’s actions and behavior.

THE INEI FAMILY –

Madame Lethe Inei ♀– The Goddess of the Underworld river of oblivion. It was her idea to take in the trials. Having been raised on legends of the elements, she was curious whether there was any factual evidence the tales of her childhood were based upon. While she loves her mate and biological children dearly, she holds a cool regard for the trials she took under her wing – she ensures their survival, allows them to bond with her children, but she keeps them a length away from her, if for no other reason than you don't get attached to your experimental lab rats. Her relationship with each trial is very different, though whether she'll love any of them, only time can tell. Played by Shadow

Master Allerick Inei ♂– All powerful, ruler of all. Despite the fierce presence and demeanor he portrays with others, including his own children, he holds a soft spot in his heart for the trials. Though he loves his mate with all his heart, he knows his views and beliefs about the trials differ from hers. This often leads to them arguing, but at the end of the day, they care for one another far too much to change anything. He does what he can for the trials, but they're Lethe's toys, in the end. All he can do is provide for them and nurture them the best he can. Played by stardance

Lorcan-chan Inei ♂– Fierce one. A white tom with subtle streaks of soft brown and grey eyes. Growing up considering the trials his siblings, despite his mother's constant harsh reprimands that he not treat them as such, he's rather close with every trial, though he may form deeper attachments to some than to others. Who those may be, only Lorcan and those involved are aware of. His relationship, despite this affection, is the closest with his biological sister, Ryuu. He would die for her – or, even harder, live for her – if it meant her happiness and protection. Available

Ryuu-chan Inei ♀– Dragon spirit. A near periwinkle gray she-cat with muted flecks of silver and brown, blue eyes. She is the maternal figure to the trials. Though some of the trials may hope to look to Lethe for maternal love and nurturing, the others know that their true caretaker and provider of everything growing children need comes from Ryuu. Not only does she care for her own parents at times when they can't stand to look at or interact with one another, as well as her biological younger brother, but also the trials who, throughout their lives, are trained to believe they'll never be as good as a true Inei. Ryuu hopes to rectify this and, perhaps even one day, have the trials be full-fledged members of the Inei family. Available

Sitara-chan ♀– Star. Black and silver with purple-red eyes reminiscent of a neutron star. Spirited, thoughtful, creative, ambitious, powerful, spontaneous, inventive. Araceli-chan ♀– Altar of the Sky. White and gold with white eyes reminiscent of opal. Open-minded, carefree, elusive, evasive. Sadira-chan ♀– Lotus Tree. White and silver with blue eyes reminiscent of ice. Thoughtful, defensive, adaptable, flexible, magnetic. Optimistic, realistic, confident, independent, magnet, altruistic, creative, kind, imaginative, purposeful, sensitive, curious. Marked with the element of water by Lethe. Available

Vanadey-chan ♀– Forest Goddess. Brown and black with green eyes reminiscent of jade. Collected, stable, down to earth, resistant to change. Uplifting, leadership quality, motivated, extroverted, strong morality. Marked with the element of earth by Lethe. Available

Makatza-chan ♂– Untamed, wild. Dark and light ginger-russet with orange eyes reminiscent of lava. Motivated, secure, intent, outgoing. Passionate, romantic, friendly, focused, resilient, supportive, giving, hard-working, powerful, confident, independent. Marked with the element of fire by Lethe. Played by Stark Raving Mad
