Zakiyyah was newly returned to the Regime. As in, so new that none of the Regime had been told yet, only Sean, Kotori, and her mother Shule knew...
Which was an amusing prospect for the ex-Spy, wanting to see her groupmates' reactions to her return. After all, rumors circulated that she'd betrayed the Regime, just like her brother, though they suggested just about anything for her crime, and had no evidence besides their own swirling gossip to back it up. Because the truth was, she'd started the rumors herself, and the she-cat had done nothing wrong at all. It was rather easy to convince a few cats though, when they thought they'd heard something in secret years ago.
Daniel was younger, not quite old enough to have know Zakiyyah when she had once been among the group; but rumors have a tendency to grow beyond time and people. He would never have known the she cat by sight, but by name could have easily recited off any of the nonsense others were eager to spread like wildfire. Of course, he wasn't stupid enough to believe it all, but the stories were interesting enough.
However, those were about the last things on the tom's mind when he noticed what by all means to him was a new face in the group. Mentally, he had to push back a comment about what bad timing it was for new members, things had been terrible recently with all the sicknesses that had befallen the group and a shortage of prey and herbs that had overlapped with it at about the worst possible time. Even one of his younger sisters had fallen ill, a fact that made him more than anxious with every passing day that equally made it abundantly clear there would be no relief coming any times soon.
Still, that wasn't the fault of this she cat, and he swallowed any of his initial distaste at a new arrival and instead took the opportunity of a small gap in what had become his more than busy schedule introduce himself to Zakiyyah. Padding over, he gave a small dip of his head in greeting to the other feline.
"I don't think I've ever seen you around before, but nice to meet you. My name's Daniel Prospero." He introduced himself, attempting to keep his tone as warm and friendly as possible. "Hope you're getting yourself situated to the tunnels well enough, I know it's tricky for those who aren't use to it all."
