Brilliance was well enough to hunt. More than that, she was lucky enough to be in charge of a Regime hunting patrol. Besides, with the snow, it wasn't like she could actually leave the group. Well, theoretically, she could ask them to take her to DayClan or SpringClan or something. But she'd heard some cats had started catching greencough, so she wasn't sure she wanted to be spreading that.
Most of the Regime's traps were buried above ground. The ones they did still have were cumbersome to lug around long distances, so they were left with the rest of the Regime to set up nearer to the territory, while patrols of Scouts went farther out to find prey. It always dwindled in leaf-bare, so she was told, but even the newly named Scout Brilliance could tell this was worse than most clans. If this was SunClan, they'd be starving with the amount of prey the Regime was bringing back. But the group was smaller... and just barely scraping by already.
She wasn't optimistic about how they were going to fare, but she kept her thoughts to herself as they trekked out of the Regime's section of the tunnels, into the surrounding area that was essentially empty so far as she could tell.
"You really joined the Regime at bad time, Brilliance. It really is a lovely place to live!," It was hard for Sapphira to defend the Regime's hunting territory when she herself had been born into famine and it was looking like she'd be facing it again soon. She just really wanted Brilliance to be happy here, the Regime needed fresh bloodlines like her if it ever wanted to grow stronger. She loved that she was surrounded by family but at some point that strength became a weakness, "Right, Sentinel Havilah?"
"What?" Havilah's presence was always like a storm cloud. He was gloomy and tended to drag the mood down a couple of pegs especially when he was around Brilliance. He'd been the cat to drag her from SunClan to the Regime but since then he'd been avoiding her. Now that hunting patrols were needed more desperately, however, the former Scout had returned to his old duties to help fill in the gaps. He cast his gilded forest eyes toward Sapphira who wore a hopeful expression and said flatly, "Oh... Yes, it is."
Sapphira frowned at his response, clearly not impressed. Instead of saying something back to him, though, she turned her attention back to Brilliance, "What do you think of life here so far?"

Brilliance turned her head slightly as she walked along to peer at the two cats. "The stories I've heard of this place aren't exactly pleasant." She answered, "But I can't complain too much when you saved my life. At least you didn't try to marry me off to some tom against my will. Always going to be a step up. Still, not a fan of being confined underground, or the fact that Shule is Duskslayer's mother."
The reception was fairly mixed. After all, she was Littlestar's daughter, and therefore, her grandmother Foxbane had been driven insane in the prison of these very cats... And she didn't necessarily trust the Commander entirely, given that Dusky was SunClan Promised.
"SunClan literally paints themselves as history's victors even when clearly they've lost. As such it comes as no surprise to me that they have somehow managed to convince their population that the Regime is an unpleasant and cramped place to live when SunClan land is not all that different. After all, you utilize a tunnel system, you---"
"Havilah!" Sapphira shouldered the auburn-furred tom who returned the interaction with what could only be described as a death glare, "And you have your own reasons to dislike SunClan. It's all about perspective and so far you aren't doing a good job of changing Brilliance's."
For a moment it looked like Havilah was going to argue right back but, instead, he fell silent. Sapphira felt a twinge of guilt for brining up something that she knew the tom was very sensitive about, but what was done was done. She cleared her throat, "... Anyway... Yes, Dusky may be Shule's son, but his past is much more complicated than that. I myself only know bits and pieces. It's nothing unusual for the Eeries, though..."
