Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Traps were perhaps one of the Regime's best resources. They helped the group significantly in ensuring they were fed, even when Scouts themselves were low in number. Commander Shule was able to set three different traps in the morning, and then after her other duties, the she-cat was able to check in on them, and two of three had prey, which she quickly collected and then reset. The last appeared to have been torn into, and a few drops of blood were bright on the almost permanently snowy ground.
The black she-cat let out a soft breath, setting down the squirrel and vole she'd been carrying to check on the trap. Fox, stale. Hm. The Commander noted she would have to make more regular rounds of such traps next time, they couldn't afford to lose valuable prey like rabbits, which seemed to have been what was caught here.
They also couldn't afford to have foxes running around stealing their prey, and the she-cat tapped a claw against the ruined trap in thought. She'd have to get a patrol made.

A pair of cats appeared from around the corner. A tall silver tabby and a chunky tuxedo persian, a pair that many cats not avoided if they wanted to get anything done that day. "You know back in my day cats actually hunted." Trevet turned to his mate, the squat persian. He had made sure that he spoke loud enough so that Shule could hear him. Antagonizing not only her but any of the other leadership was his favorite thing to do now that he was retired.
"And there never were any foxes around either, right?" Adnet teased his mate, though it too was spoken loud enough for Shule. The persian had been born outside the regime but had lived in it for as long as anyone could remember. He was much kinder than his mate and if not by Trevet's side could usually be found in the nursery, watching kits while the raisers or mothers took breaks.

"Back in my day, even Superiors didn't dare talk back to their Commanders." Shule's mother had gotten demoted from Scout Superior for arguing with the Commander of the time, and that had largely shaped the she-cat's workaholic attitude. She commented back calmly, an acknowledgement of hearing their words, but not offering anything else of note for the moment. Besides, she was rather used to the attitude of some cats. It was bound to happen simply by being an Eerie. And that wasn't even counting the fact her son was a serial killer, had killed members of his own family long before Shule had ever become Commander. There were plenty of reasons to detest the Eeries.

“Well yes, I suppose times have changed plenty.” Adnet nodded softly at Shule. He was not as hostile to her, believing she was doing her best. It wasn’t her fault that leadership kept cycling through like the phases of the moon. He personally just wished it was more diverse, as it stood it most consisted of Eeries. His husband would like to see more Damaris in power, regardless of if they would actually work well. Adnet just wanted anyone who was dedicated and preferred non-related cats. He feared to many of the clan leaders were connected and might create an empire.
“That’s for sure.” Trevet responded to his mate. He was grumpy on a good day, usually upset that he had to retire. But it was probably necessary, his left eye was going blind and his joints were often stiff in the morning. Not that he would admit it. He had plans to outlive everyone.

Shule absolutely agreed that they needed more diversity. Over a third of all Commanders were in some way, distant or not, connected to the major lines of the Eeries, or her own family. And of the current higher ranks, Eartha was her mother in law, Laurel her step-daughter, Arei her granddaughter, and three of the five Sentinels were her mate, daughter, and step-grandson. Gardenia even had distant ties to the family. Jezi was the only cat not related somehow. And yet, when she promoted Undertow, the tom hadn't worked out. Not to mention being Gardenia's mate now. The Regime wasn't particularly big, and most ended up part of the major families one way or other soon enough. The previous Commander had been unrelated... until Gossamer became mates with Kaisra. And then disappeared shortly after stepping down. The Commander before that actually was unrelated, but Raijin losing the entire Regime to Gossamer Alessandra put him in a bad straights with Shule, and he didn't dare show his face around Shule, or at least didn't care to try and return.
The one benefit, perhaps, was that Shule didn't intend to go anywhere anytime soon, so at least there was stability, if nothing else.
She lifted her head to properly look at the two veterans. "You should be careful out in this cold." Shule nodded slightly to Trevet. "The cold isn't going to do you any favors." Their old territory didn't have snow three out of four seasons, but this one did, and they were coming up on winter soon, the coldest and snowiest time of the year.

Adnet did have to admit he enjoyed the stability and sanity of Shule. He was not above admitting she was not that bad all things considered, it wasn’t fair to judge her on her family. Though her choice of mate was questionable. Sean was a wildcard and while an entertaining cat not one who was perhaps suited to the stresses of leadership. Though perhaps all the craziness that seemed abusent in the Eeries meant they could withstand all that being in charge would throw at them. It was just a shame everyone else seemed so flaky when it came to staying in power.
“I still don’t know why we moved here. It is absolutely freezing all the time.” Trevet grumbled. Of course he was well aware that the old tunnels had collapsed. This was the third or fourth set, he couldn’t exactly recall, that the regime had lived in. Every time it seemed that the tunnels collapsed, which was no one faults but he sure did hate moving all the time. Perhaps this land was just not the best for tunneling past what was naturally already dug.
