He knew that a remembered the smells from somewhere. Beneath all the acrid smells of the decaying city were familiar scents. They were nothing he could place, but a part of his brain reached for something, or maybe it was just the city driving him crazy. Xapham's eyes darted between the buildings. He swore he could see shadows moving inside them, but the place as a whole looked deserted. He was fine with that. The scars lacing his pelt told his history, but he didn't enjoying fighting or savagery, unlike those who had set their eyes on him this time. The massive tom stopped in his tracks as he heard a can rattle off a trash heap behind himself. "Who's there? I'm not looking for any trouble."

A voice laughed at themselves before appearing from the shadows behind the stranger. His red and white pelt was strangely immaculate for a city cat, and bright blue eyes stared at the new cat. "That's good. I would say we don't look for it either, but that's not the truth." Venti laughed to himself again, a smile that showed his teeth on his face. He was told to do this, a test of sorts. Venti was never very good at the ruthless carnage that felt necessary for the League. "This part of the city can be considered Primal Instinct territory. What brought you here?" Venti could already feel himself failing.
"I'm sorry to hear that, but I really don't want any trouble. I'm just passing through. I'm not hunting here or anything like that. Just walking and touring your beautiful territory." Despite Venti's approach Xapham stayed relaxed. The other cat was off-putting, but he believed with all his heart that no claws would have to be unsheathed today. He had avoided using his claws for moons upon moons at this point by sheer luck and negotiation. Little did he know, the League hardly negotiated. He was done the moment he stepped into the territory. "If you want, please accompany me to the other side."

Even with all the training he went through, this wasn't really his strong suit. He was supposed to be a fighter, but he could also barely fight. Not unless he got the upper hand by taking this guy by surprise. So Venti nodded, loosening his shoulders and deciding to play along. "Sure. Lead the way."
Xapham smiled at Venti and dipped his head. "Thank you. I'm sure we can get better acquainted and we'll be laughing about this by the time we get to the other side." The white tom turned and started to move at a rather brisk pace through the narrow alleyways. "Please, tell me your name. I'm Xapham."

Laughing. Right. Maybe someone else would. Venti wasn't sure yet, already feeling himself chicken out of this. The orange tom began to follow Xapham through the alleyways, which were oddly silent other than the scamperings of a rat. "Venti." He nodded his head towards the other. "It sounds like you're well-traveled. Where are you from?"
"Oddly enough, I'm actually from around here. I left for a while though, not by choice. I slept on one of those ships, and it left land overnight. I was stuck on the ship for a while before we reached some far off shore. Then I hung out there for a few years before coming back." He didn't think much of his life, but he enjoyed it.

"Really? How fascinating." Venti had spent his whole life in walls, just staring at the outside through glass panes. Now that he was finally outside, the ocean felt like another barrier. What was on the other side? He felt like he could never know. Until now that is. Ventil slipped ahead, gently steering the route where he wanted it to go. "What was it like over there?" He asked, genuinely curious though also trying to get Xapham's mind off of the path.
