"Cadet Arcadia!" Briar-tyke squeaked, running up to the Cadet with bright and shining gray eyes. They were nowhere near Post Kilo and, with no Raisers in sight, it was sort of a mystery how this young auburn she-kit go here at all. She was very cute kit and appeared demure until she opened her mouth and started rattling off questions. Briar-tyke was a chatterbox to say the least but she was so friendly that it was hard to get angry with her... and even harder to tell her no, "I heard of the most amazing place today, we've got to go an investigate it, but we could maybe get into trouble." She looked from side to side then lowered her voice for only Cadet Arcadia's ears, "Let's go investigate the Outlands! We won't go far, just a look, I really want to see the purple rocks down there! I hear that they glow, but how can they do that when no light reaches them? I just have to know! Please please please!"

Cadet Arcadia looked down at the pint-sized puffball at her paws, offering her an exhausted smile. With the extra hunting and training she had been doing over the last moon, the formerly mischievous she-cat had somewhere along the way become more responsible and level-headed. She might have said yes to Briar-tyke back then, but now with the fate of the Regime hanging over all of their heads... As she opened her mouth to say no, however, and ask where the Raisers that were supposed to be watching her were, she caught herself. Since when had she been the buzzkill? As a tyke and young cadet she would have said yes in a heartbeat! She wouldn't let her new-found stress rub off on the tyke. They would have an adventure!
"We can't leave that mystery unsolved," she drawled, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes as she drew out the yes she would inevitably give. "After all, what if the crystals are actually spirits of old Regime cats, trapped and stuck there forever without the Blind Protector?" She hummed under her breath, the very image of contemplation, before winking down at Briar. "I suppose we have to check it out. It's our duty, after all!"
"Thank you, Cadet Arcadia! I knew I could count on you!" Briar-tyke chirped and rubbed her head up against the Cadet's front leg, a deep purr emanating from her chest, louder than you'd expect to hear from a kit but then again sounds tended to echo in these tunnels, "I'm not really sure where the entrance is but it would make sense if it was southeast of HQ, since the Outlands are supposed to connect to other Clan territories and there's not really anything in any other direction. Unless you know better?" She stepped in front of Cadet Arcadia now and near the older she-cats gaze with determination clear in her warm gray eyes, "Either way, if there really are trapped spirits down there, we had better hurry!"

"Southeast, eh?" Cadet Arcadia chuckled at the she-kit's knowledge of the tunnels, wondering if the raisers knew how closely Briar was listening to their conversations. Not her problem. "If they're trapped down there, I'm sure they'll be willing to wait a little longer. The first thing you need to know is that mouse-brained plans end in pain and punishment here. You'll thank me for the lesson later." She closed her eyes for a moment, allowing the pure darkness of her mind's eye to help her focus. Finally, she opened her eyes and gazed down the tunnel. "We should be able to get to the Outlands if we head down one of the tunnels to the east," she mewed, having reviewed her mental map of their territory. "It's an old tunnel that isn't patrolled that runs parallel to the main tunnel, so we should be able to get by unseen. If you can promise to stay quiet?" She added the last part with a critical look at Briar-tyke, silently challenging her to act older than her age.
Briar-tyke nodded and moved her dirty paw from corner to corner of her mouth. My lips are sealed. Her dark gray eyes shined with excitement as she weaved her way between Cadet Arcadia's paws to express herself instead of speaking, coating the lighter she-cat's fur with specs of grime and grit in the process. Briar-tyke was notoriously filthy although her earth-colored fur and the Regime's tunnel-centered lifestyle made it easy for her to avoid detection from the Raisers.
"This way, right?" Ok, her lips weren't sealed for long, but she kept her voice low. For some reason whispering made her British accent sound incredibly strong. How she got the accent was anyone's guess, she'd been so, so young with Apollo had found her, but each and every one of her siblings had it.

"Sealed, huh?" chuckled Cadet Arcadia, rolling her eyes. What did she expect, taking a tyke with her? Well, it was done now and her plan actually wasn't too bad. If the tunnels were still in working condition, they would be in the outlands and back in time for Briar-tyke's nap. "Actually...no," mewed Arcadia with a grin. "The other way." She motioned with her paw to the right, walking a few paces forwards until a small side-tunnel came into view, barely big enough for a full-grown cat to fit through. "This'll take us to the parallel tunnel if we follow it. Remember, you need to stay quiet, and stay near me, okay?"
"I can be extremely quiet and stealthy. Plus my pelt is the same colour as dirt which is the perfect camouflage down here," So much for sealed lips. While Briar-tyke's voice was low, she was a chatterbox by nature and that habit of hers was not easily broken. At least her pawsteps were quiet and her sneakiness level was a little bit higher than one may expect for a kit her age. She poked her head into the small hole burning with curiosity then looked back at Cadet Arcadia with big gray eyes, "There's not enough room down there to walk side by side. I'll go first!" Before Cadet Arcadia had a chance to reply, Briar-tyke was already out of sight.

"Briar-tyke!" Cadet Arcadia's frantic whisper wasn't enough to catch the tyke before she slipped ahead, leaving the scout cadet to growl under her breath and hurry behind her into the darkness. Fortunately for Regime-born cats, their eyes were quite adept at navigating through the inky blackness of the tunnels and Arcadia was no exception. She easily made out Briar-tyke's form ahead of her and pushed to catch up, nabbing the tyke's tail in her mouth none too gently.
"Briar-tyke, you stop right now," she mewed through the mouthful of tail she had, anger flickering in her eyes. "I thought you promised to listen to me!" Her voice was still quiet, but the close dirt walls helped to muffle their sounds quite effectively. "I ought to take you back to Post Kilo right now and tell the Raisers I found you. They'll believe me more than you, anyway. Is that what you want?"
(sorry it's kind of short, only so much to do with kits xD)
"But I am listening to you, Cadet Arcadia! Stay quiet, stay alert, stay near... Oh..." Briar-tyke's ears flicked back. Perhaps she had gotten ahead of herself a little bit just now, gone a little too far, "I'm sorry, please don't take me back to Post Kilo, I'll listen, I promise!"
