Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Honeystorm This thread is open to any cadets of any rank in RR! It's going to consist of Cadet Arcadia (Scout Cadet) and any other Scout Cadets that wanna join teaching cadets of other ranks how to hunt. It's going to be really intensive and take up most of their time, meaning that their sleep schedule and normal duties will likely be affected. This is to help Commander Shule make up for the lack of hunting scouts, and to help bring more prey to the group.
This will eventually culminate in Arcadia taking a group of cadets and leaving the Regime's territory to find prey in PI, since their territory is so vast it's nearly impossible for them to patrol it at all times. It's a risky mission, but one she believes in necessary for the good of the Regime.
This thread will be the one in which they train for a few days, getting down the basics and hashing out a plan to get more prey. Feel free, like I said, to join with any rank cadet, since there's clearly not enough scout cadets to do the job alone. Message me if you have any questions! :D let the fun begin! CADET ARCADIA || seven moons The weather still had a decidedly cold chill to it, leading to the long-haired she-cat to shiver as she slipped back into the tunnels. The scent of snow and ice clung to her as she expertly navigated the black tunnels leading to Post Alpha. The scents and sounds of her groupmates reached her long before she could see them, and a grim smile curled up one side of her mouth.
Entering the post, she found a tall rock and surveyed those present, ensuring there weren't any full-fledged soldiers in their midst. She knew they would report her plan to Commander Shule and couldn't risk it getting out - not yet. "Guys!" she called, her voice loud enough to cut through the chatter, "C'mere. I've got an idea."
Cadet Havliah looked up at Cadet Arcadia with his typical scowl. Unapproachable as ever, it was no wonder the eldest Scout Cadet was not Head Cadet; he had the skills but not the attitude to work closely with others. Thus, he was used to being excluded from most schemes. Cadet Arcadia inviting him directly was new for him so he stood up and decided to entertain her idea.
The auburn tom was tall but languid, much too thin for a cat with his frame. He, like many of his groupmates, was not eating properly. It didn't help that he was particularly finicky when it came to food. Cadet Havilah refused to eat prey that he didn't personally catch. If not for that trait, surely a big and brooding cat like him would have been a Mercenary.
"I'm all ears." He said gruffly, his deep emerald eyes meeting Cadet Arcadia's directly, like he was challenging her but over what was anyone's guess.

Of course, Arcadia then attracted a group of cats to conspire with. Lisbet and Larus were littermates, the former a black and white she-cat with puffy cheeks and green eyes, the latter a heavy brown tabby turkish angora with similar green eyes and a white tailtip. A Raiser and Guider Cadet respectively, and the latter, despite being more plump than most were even in summer, looked rather weak, something that seemed to drag at his body with every step, though he had defiance in his eyes.
Bifrost, the opalescent eyed feline with black and orange fur that was white at the tips, making her look as though she were covered in a layer of sparkling frost. She had a stubborn look about her, and naturally, had to glare at all the others present. Eeries, the lot of them. Ugh.
The last to arrive was Breasal, and that was mostly because the Mercenary Cadet spotted Havilah and decided to come on over. When the white feline with the russet undercoat arrived, she sat down heavily, placing a paw over her eyes and grunting a short "What?" to Arcadia. Even the movement of walking had made her nauseous, and though she took deep, slow breaths, that wasn't helping this time around.

Seeing a good number of cadets approaching, Cadet Arcadia gave a tight, satisfied smile. Her gaze skimmed each of them, taking in their angular features and the extra skin that hung off of them. They were hungry. Nearly starving. As if in confirmation, her stomach rumbled, sending a sharp pain up her side. Commander Shule was doing everything she could: putting every cat an on hour of hunting a day, cutting back extra eating, rationing, but it wasn't enough. Leafbare wouldn't let up, so it was up to them to make do.
"We're hungry, we're tired, and we're cold," she started, unsure how to propose this radical idea without getting laughed out of the post. "Commander Shule has done everything she can, with her attention spread as thinly as it is, so now it's up to us." She looked around for the familiar faces she knew and others she only saw in passing. "With the lack of scouts, I suggest we all do some more intensive hunting training...regardless of rank." It wasn't too far beyond what Shule suggested, but she wanted to go farther.
"I suggest we meet at daybreak every day until noontime and practice hunting so bring in more prey. I have an idea for later, but it all depends on how well we can do with this. What do you say?"
"I don't need any practice." Cadet Havilah was the first to respond and voice hung flatly in the air like an out-of-tune note. To be fair, his statement was true: Havliah brought in just as much prey, if not more so, as the full Scouts did. In addition, he conducted the majority of his hunts alone. No, he was sharp enough to see the hidden meaning behind was Cadet Arcadia was after. She wanted him to help train this menagerie of mercenaries, raisers and guiders how to do their craft. How ironic. Cadet Havilah had always wanted to do mercenary training and been denied time and time again. Guess that would change at the next war, huh?
"If that's really all that is happening here, then I am out. But I am curious about what your 'idea for later' is" He added, his auburn tail-tip twitching and stirring up a little bit of dust. He glanced at Breasel to see what she was thinking, her opinion was really the only other one he half cared about in the entire room, although he wasn't sure how much help she would be given her delicate constitution.

Cadet Arcadia narrowed her eyes at Cadet Havilah, but stayed silent while he spoke, giving him a chance to get his voice out and heard. When he finished with his question, she waited a beat before answering. She couldn't get a read on the gathered cats, but flicked her gaze towards Breasel when she heard her cough, concern flitting across her eyes. Finally, she spoke. "I appreciate your comments, Havilah," she mewed evenly, meeting his gaze with her own. "But consider this: we will starve. That is an inevitability, it just comes down to how slowly we do it. Do we let the Veterans go first, having lived their lives to the fullest and fulfilled their responsibilities? Or the tykes, too little to know any different? I suppose we could let the Raisers die first and let the tykes raise themselves."
Her words were cold, harsh, and true. But her eyes were soft and sad, clearly not enjoying painting this gruesome picture. "I don't like any of those options, so I made my own. If we're all hunting every day - and trained at it by those talented among us -" She nodded towards Havilah, "- then I think we have a chance at surviving until new leaf comes in earnest. I don't relish the chance of getting caught by our superiors and punished, but this is for the greater good, and I'm willing to take any punishment meted out to me for that."
"Well, if you are going to make me choose, I'd pick tyke because that means I'll finally be rid of you," Cadet Havilah replied with a smirk. The joke was in poor taste but it wasn't like Cadet Havliah was trying to win any hearts here. Oddly enough, though, he didn't make a move to leave. Instead, he got a little more comfortable and sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws. He yawned and made sure that Cadet Arcadia got a good view of his fangs: I'll help but on my own terms. Cadet Havilah was more than twice the other cadet's age and wasn't about to take orders from a baby like her. That being said, even he had to admit that he idea wasn't that bad, and he had nothing better to do right now anyway.

Honeystorm { { sorry it took so long to reply! } }
"Any other questions?" asked Cadet Arcadia, apparently satisfied with Havliah's acquiescence. She knew the tom's help was invaluable, and that her whole plan would be practically impossible without him, but also knew she could never let him find that out or he would use and abuse the power it gave him. She didn't know the tom well, but his devil-may-care attitude didn't sit right with her. She cast her gaze out over the other assembled cadets, praying to the Blind Protector they would agree too.
"What's in it for me if we do this?" Larus, for his part, wasn't exactly the best cat of the bunch. He'd facilitated the escape of a prisoner once, a pawn under Foxstar when she'd reigned in SunClan. He also clearly didn't seem to be having any starvation issues. Then again, it was known that the Guider cadet was often ill, much like his grandmother had been, so maybe Arcadia would be more sympathetic. Likely not, though.
Lisbet just glanced at her littermate, but didn't argue, wanting to hear what Arcadia had to say, a curious look on her face, as if her decision depended on the she-cat's answer.
Bifrost, of course, huffed, and glared at Larus, "Unlike meal thief here, I don't need bribes to help out. I'm in."
Breasal shrugged, rubbing a paw against her face. "If Havilah's in, I'm in."

HoneystormJadie "What's in it for you?" Cadet Arcadia swallowed her anger. Were so many of her groupmates so selfish? Her voice was even when she replied, "You will not suffer the shame of being the only well-fed cat in a group full of starved origins and tykes. You will have the honor of serving your family with pride and honor in hard times." She considered her next words carefully, finding them distasteful though still speaking them. "And, should the plan go correctly, you will be hailed as a hero for bringing relief to the Regime."

Larus glared at Arcadia, the words leaving his tongue bitterly before he could stop it. "Oh, like you're so much better you egotistical brat? You don't really have any room to talk when you're acting like you have far better ideas than anything the Commander could come up with." Even so, he didn't leave, neither did Lisbet, though she was looking at both her brother and Arcadia with some expression that was akin to a mother annoyed by the quarreling of her children. Then again, she was a Raiser Cadet, so perhaps she'd simply picked it up from there.
Cadet Havilah's whiskers twitched when Cadet Arcadia unloaded on Cadet Larus. He chuckled but held his tongue while the two went back and forth and instead busied himself by grooming Breasal's shoulder as a thank-you for her support. After Larus's last statement, though, he couldn't help but throw Arcadia a bone, "I hear there's a black market in the League open to all groups and full of treasure. Cadet Larus, maybe you will find something that's worth your time there."

Arcadia couldn't hide the grateful expression at Havilah's help, but quickly schooled it away into a neutral expression. "I didn't come here to squabble. I ask only that if you choose not to participate, you don't say anything to anyone. If I get caught, let it be because of my own fault, not because of some power-hungry climber cadet that doesn't know when to keep their mouth shut." Her tone grew sharp at the end, eyes narrowed in a challenge. She wouldn't let this be nipped in the bud, not before she could at least get some prey for the tykes.
"Now, if that's all, why don't we go ahead and get started?" she asked, dismissing the rest of the concerns with a flick of her tail. She didn't have time to linger on every single objection someone could raise, and decided to allow them to choose which side they would land on. "I'll take a few non-scout cadets and, er, Havilah can take some too." She cut him a look that dared him to say no, though there was just a flicker of a tease too.
"Cadet Breasel and Cadet Laurus." Cadet Havilah sighed, rising to his paws and motioning the other tom over to him. Cadet Breasal, of course, was already at his side, "I guess we'll practice some basic hunting stances..."
The auburn tom was decisive. He didn't want to sit here and keep arguing about who was training who: He was tired of all the yapping. One might say that picking Cadet Larus was counter-productive to his goal, seeing as that tom was more vocal than the rest, but there was a reason behind it, too. Both Cadet Breasal and Cadet Larus were sickly cats. They offered a special training challenge so, in putting them together, Cadet Havilah hoped that they would lean on each other a little bit. Plus Cadet Breasal was his sister and a pretty nice cat so if he couldn't get through to Cadet Larus maybe she could.
"The trick to hunting is being quick on your feet and silent as death. You want to kill the prey before it has a chance to react to your presence. It's smaller and quicker than you so if you lose the element of surprise odds are you won't be successful," He dropped low to the ground and purposely moved in slow motion so they could see his paw-steps, "One way to minimize your presence is to make sure to put your hind paw in the exact same spot that your front paw was as you move. You may not realize this, but that's how you walk naturally, it's something all cats do without thinking but you have to be more intentional about it when you are stalking. You can see the twig in front of you before you take your step but you don't have eyes on your hind paws."
