"I'm glad we're able to finally meet," Sean said, coming up from behind Darkcomplex with a mouse. It wasn't much, but it would be selfish to indulge themselves in a meal any bigger. Although really Sean was the only one not hungry during this starvation. No one in the Regime saw him eat anymore, never taking anything off the freshkill pile and while he had lost some weight it was clear he wasn't skin and bones like the others. Really the entire situation still filled him with guilt, he knew he did the right thing because he wasn't able to care for Shule and his litter. That he trusted Glowstar because they were family so she had the right to raise them. But watching Serenity and Kaisra easily come back with Shule the day they came, not even hesitating or offering to leave another day broke his heart. He saw how much it hurt Glowstar, but he never met or saw Darkcomplex to know how it impacted him. He wasn't sure if Darkcomplex could ever like him, but at least he had Dusky... Okay that went wrong when they began to guilt Duskslayer to join them and in turn dragged Darkcomplex along. Why were they such awful people!?
"I notice that Dusky brought a girl with him, you uh... Excited about that or judgy?" Sean asked wondering how to begin the topic with him. He didn't know Dusky at all well while Darkcomplex didn't know Serenity or Kaisra well anymore either. But it felt like finally maybe the family could stop being so disjointed.

Darkcomplex, or well, Lex, as he had decided to go back to now that he'd left SunClan wasn't sure what he'd expected when he'd decided to join the Regime, or what he thought Kaisra would be like. Well, Kaisra wasn't really surprising, she was quite like Glowstar in a lot of ways, though now that he'd seen more of Shule, he could see some of the similarities in there as well, even if his daughter might not realize it.
The silvery tom offered Sean a casual smile, one that was more fit for acquaintances than friends, but to be fair, they were fathers who shared kits... and little else. To each other they were strangers, and he wasn't quite sure where they stood with each other. But he wasn't about to hold a grudge, even if he was inwardly uncertain. The Sentinel appeared to be trying, so the Scout felt as though he should give it a fair shake as well. "If Dusky is happy, then I'm happy." The tom answered honestly. "Why? Are you concerned?"
"Uhh, more concerned about how Green will act," Sean admitted, "She would never approve, Unseenlights is- I don't mean this in a rude way, but kind of average. She's not a kittypet who survived abusive two-legs and got an extra life from StarClan. She wasn't a kittypet turned cannibal. Cats who have proven to be especially clever or strong or even strong willed fit well in this family, but having someone completely innocent join in with our madness is. I'm sorry am like kind of insulting you? I don't honestly know the backstory of how you wound up with Glowstar or if you have some cool epic backstory. All I'm saying is after her first son had a normal mate and she died she's been pretty watchful on who her kits become serious with," Sean explained.
Really he never had paid much attention to the whole judging who your kits date thing. He probably should have, maybe if he had been more judgmental like Glowstar who could have noticed his son liked Cyra and could have stopped all the atrocities he had done.

"Well, it's not her life, is it?" Lex answered, tilting his head ever so slightly. It had been some time since he'd spoken with Glowstar, and the mere mention of her name made his chest ache, which is why he'd been avoiding her in the first place. Not that he'd had too many opportunities anyhow, with the break in the alliance that was only just repaired, and the fact it was hard to find her alone, without Funk E'tan or Foxbane at her side in many cases. He sighed softly. "I'd say I've had more interesting things happen to me, than call myself particularly special in any way. I gained my name the same day as Glowstar, and watched my entire litter slaughtered before me. I was forced into my marriage with her by Foxstar to keep her in line, and drugged with herbs to think I had fathered my kits. I ended up with Bluejay because Glowstar felt bad she hadn't actually given me kits, and then I had to keep Blue from killing Dusky and try to save her from herself when she spurred on an apocalypse. That's all very interesting, I suppose, but I was never part of it for being especially brave, or intelligent, or ambitious. I ended up in SunClan by chance, and truly thought the Sun God would help me. I was dragged into a cruel Priestess' demands through no decision of my own, though I'd never give up my kits for the world. Dusky, Kaisra, Bluejay, Serenity, Cinnamonsavage, they're my everything. I want them to be happy."
He leaned back on his paws and looked around for a moment, his mismatched eyes roving over everything without quite seeing as he lost himself to his thoughts a moment. "I grew to love Glowstar and her chaos, but she never loved me, so she left to find her own happiness. She has the right to be happy, and so does Dusky. So what if the girl he's seeing is 'normal'? Why does normal have to be a bad thing? If she brings out the best in Dusky, and she makes him feel like he is enough, even if he had none of those personas he likes to display, then who are we to stop him? It's not hurting anyone. Love doesn't have to be all about whirlwind moments and crimson tides. It can be the quiet moments when no one's around and you're simply comfortable in each other's presence, the moments where you work together towards a goal, no matter how small. This family I've been thrust into is insanity, it could use someone like Unseenlights to remind it why normal can be good."
"Wow, your whole life kind of sucks doesn't it? Don't worry the Regime's totally cool, the only bad stuff that happens is from outside forces," Sean reassured, "And it's not a bad thing so much as it is sad when someone normal joins the family. Sometimes it's too much for them to handle and puts a strain on the relationship. For Unseenlights and Duskslayer they'll always have to worry about Kotori and Dusky's responsibilities to the Regime, the league, SunClan, and DayClan. He'll always be moving and if they have kits he might be traveling alone. SunClan's strict about where their kits can go. I'm worried that if they can't travel with him then they'll be deprived of him. I only wish Dusky hadn't wound up in a cult, but he seems... Weirdly tame despite that? I'm guessing that's thanks to you. You're not exactly the striking image I'd picture of a SunClan cat," Sean admitted.
"For a long time, I genuinely thought that SunClan was the best place." Lex shrugged. "After all, I had seen their god with my own eyes, and given up my entire family for them, that's all I had. I enjoyed being the strong ones, the chosen ones. It's easy to get sucked into that feeling of being placed above all others. But then, when Foxstar started using me as her pawn, that illusion faded. Not at first. I was handed Glowstar, and the kits we shared. I had a family again. But once I knew my kits were being used as pawns, when I saw that she'd be willing to throw them away the moment they were no use to her, I couldn't hold onto that idealized image of it all. It was no longer enough to believe in a god's care when all his worshipers committed atrocities in his name. I stayed there for Duskslayer, because I wanted him to know that he always had someone looking out for him, in the place that would try to control him most." He paused, considering that he perhaps had gone off on a tangent about himself, rather than staying focused on the topic of Unseenlights.
"I think she can handle it. She's handled SunClan, and she's handled Dusky already. It might be overwhelming to start, but I believe they can carry each other through it. As for kits, SunClan is concerned mostly with staking their claim on the kits and keeping them loyal. There is no rule that prohibits kits visiting family elsewhere, and the way the rules themselves are written is primed with loopholes waiting to be exploited. I think they'll be able to go farther than you'd think, it might just take some consideration."
Sean raised a brow with a disgusted expression, really? It was easy to get sucked into being above others? Sure, he loved to pretend he was better than Glowstar, but he always knew he was equal to everyone else. No matter how many praises he got or even how many insults he received he knew he wasn't higher or lower than anyone. And he would certainly never follow or hail anyone that took away his family. But his look softened over hearing the tom go on as he spoke about Glowstar and their kits, well. His kits.
"I just hope you didn't raise my kits into sheep, but judging by the fact that only one stayed in SunClan, I'd say you did a pretty good job," Sean said casually and listened as he heard paw steps approaching them. Duskslayer emerged out from the dark, to make things easier on the Regime cats everyone called him Dusky for short, but it was a common nickname for him in SunClan too.
Dusky seemed to look between the two as though processing that both his dads were in the same room, "Um. I was looking for some girl advice. Family advice stuff," Dusky said shyly.
"Girlfriend advice 101 is that she's always right, even when she's not, she's right," Sean said playfully.

"If I made them into sheep, then I've failed in everything I ever tried to teach them." Lex replied easily, choosing not to take it personally, though he did feel a pang in his heart at Sean calling them his kits. But Lex knew they were his own too, he shouldn't take the use of 'my' for 'our' personally, and his ear twitched slightly.
He was quite surprised to see Dusky, but the Scout offered a flash of a warm, encouraging smile at his son's shy question. "What's up?" Lex questioned immediately, giving Sean a side glance for his comment and raising a brow slightly for a moment before his gaze drifted back to the young tom. Hopefully the Sentinel wasn't serious in his comment, but he supposed he'd wait and see.
Duskslayer inhaled a breath before pacing the room, "Okay so at first I really never felt like I belonged in SunClan and I just stayed for you, dad. But then I met Unseenlights and I made new friends and Littlestar became leader and everything was great. I plan to ask Lights to marry me, but then I also don't want to have kits," Duskslayer grimaced, hardly able to look any of the two toms in their eyes. Saying it out loud only left him feeling worse inside, "I've seen first hand how manipulative SunClan can be towards kits. I want my kits to be able to go to gatherings, I want them to be able to believe whatever religion or no religion they want. I would want them to grow up in a society that doesn't publicly execute. I love Unseenlights and I know more than anything I've ever felt in my life that I want her to be my mate. But I also know just as much that if I'm in SunClan, I never want to have a family. If I deprive Lights of a family care and love I'll always hate myself, but if I have kits and they're born into a clan that represses freedom I'll hate myself even more."
He looked utterly defeated, his eyes trained to the ground. The worst part was that he wanted a family and he was loyal to SunClan. But that was the issue, HE was loyal to SunClan, he didn't want his kits rights to be taken away the moment they were born. They deserved to make an informed choice, but that was the problem with SunClan, they were manipulative and had a way of fantasizing everything. He knew that he never wanted anyone with his blood in SunClan, but he was also too devoted to be sly and have any secret kits. Everything was a mess.
