Okay, this had been a strange find. Shule picked up the small leather aviator cap from the ground, turning it this way and that with a curious expression. It was covered in dirt and snow, and the goggles were half buried in the ground only a pace away. It didn't.. have holes for her ears, but it shouldn't be too hard to cut out holes for that, should it?
Well, anyway. First things first, time to clean it off. This, naturally, lead the Commander to carefully dig up the goggles, and then tread across the Regime's naturally snowy landscape, more inhabited now since she'd ordered every cat to learn to hunt. Not that they'd ever abandon the tunnels. The underground was their home, it always had been, and so it would stay.
She stopped at the river in the northwest portion of the territory, the edges half frozen with thin ice, her white paws cold from the trek. Hm. Maybe she could make coverings to keep warmer in this cold. Though spring was upon them, the territory showed no signs of thaw, and Shule didn't expect it to. Turning her mind back to the task at hand, she used a paw to break open the ice as she stood at the water's edge, her toes feeling frigid as she dunked in the cap, pulling it out and gently cleaning away the dirt. She repeated this for a good few minutes, until all the dirt from both the goggles and hat had been washed away. Now she just had to let them dry.
"Oh what's that!" A perky voice called and lo and behold Le Petit Volontaire himself was padding towards Commander Shule with smooth steps, looking curiously towards the cap and goggles she had laid out at her feet in the thin coating of snow that seemed to be a perpetual feature of their territory. "Are you going to fly a plane?" He laughed, not realizing she might not know what a plane was; he truly had no idea how well traveled the other was. Sometimes his random knowledge left others confused as they would have no idea what he was talking about or what kind of object he was referring to. In his short time within the regime Le Petit Volontaire had noted Shule seemed rather mechanically inclined, seeming to enjoy making and building things. It was all rather fascinating in his eyes, as one wouldn't think a cat that spent a majority of their time underground would be so inclined to exploring new avenues other cats barley ever considered possible.

"Twolegs wear these when they fly planes?" Shule questioned, tilting her head as she moved it to look at the Superior. She wasn't particularly well traveled, at least not what she'd have considered so, but she had spent some moons in the city, and thus gotten to know about humans and their things more. After this most recent near destruction of the clans, she had vowed to not let it happen again. If the twolegs could make things to withstand cold and heat and nature, then surely a cat could do the same. Thus far, it hadn't caught on too much with the others, though Ignatius had been a surprising help. "I suppose I'll just have to learn to fly then."
Le Petit Volontaire blinked at her answer before he grinned ever wider, blinking off colored eyes to take her in with a fresh sense of respect. There were many things a cat could have said in reply to his words, and somehow he had not expected the words she picked. "What a charming response Shule!" He beamed at her, the praise sincere though his tone left it feeling lacking. A flaw the tom could never seem to curb and that he noted in this instance and flinched at. "Perhaps you will be one of the first of the Regime Commanders to look beyond the underground and take us to the skies!"

Shule laughed softly at the idea, but she hadn't said it only to make some ridiculous claim. The thought echoed a lot of her feelings since the Shadow Era had tried to destroy the clans not long ago. They needed to move into a new time. Cats used all sorts of herbs and poisons nowadays, and yet, no particularly mind blowing ways of catching prey. Nothing to defend oneself from attack, the same old methods of fortification. There was so much more to be found, and Commander Shule wanted to discover all she could. She expected cats to push back, after all, many of the things she sought to create would likely be seen as recreations of twoleg things, but those cats simply did not want to face the possibility of the new and unknown. She wasn't one of those cats. "I highly doubt we'll be so lucky as to soar as birds anytime soon, but then again, never say never. If twolegs can do it, then we should have as good a chance as any."
