The weather hadn't warmed much since the depths of leaf-bare had blown upon them, and had it not been for her apprentice's first day of training, Heathersong would still be in her warm nest. As it were, her nest was carefully re-arranged, her pelt groomed, and eyes set with determination. These were some of the first apprentice's of their clan, and she would do right by Chimerastar by giving these lessons her all. Hailing from FallClan originally, the small she-cat's own training delt more with combative lessons than with hunting and scouting so she worried that she wouldn't be able to provide the kind of training new blood would need to learn how to function in SwiftClan. Despite this, she resolved to do her best and, if that failed, turn to her clanmates for help.
She had allowed Wrenpaw some time to sleep in and have breakfast, not approaching the apprentice's section of the camp until well after sunrise. A well-rested, well-fed apprentice was liable to learn better, she figured. "Wrenpaw?" she called, looking over the mix of pelts and forms milling about. She couldn't help but notice some were thinner than she would have liked, but knew it had to do with the lack of prey running in their territory. Just another reason to train Wrenpaw well, she supposed. "It's time for your first day of training."
Wrenpaw’s dark brown head popped up over her denmates and the soft rise and fall of their bodies. Her golden eyes, so deep and warm and awake, proved that she had not been sleeping. With graceful movements, the pretty she-cat slipped past them all and met her mentor out in the cold light of the winter sun. She purred and stretched, excitement racing through her limbs, though she held herself properly. She had thanked both StarClan and Chimerastar for giving her the perfect mentor — a warrior she looked up to.
“Good morning,” she said, her voice smooth and gentle.

"Are you ready?" asked Heathersong with a small smile, waving her tail for her apprentice to follow her as she slipped out of their sheltered camp and into the brisk leaf-bare breeze. It wasn't as cold as it had been in days past thanks, in part, to a glorious sun rising high in the sky. There were no clouds marring its aquamarine depths, and Heathersong couldn't think of anything that could make that day better. "I was thinking of showing you some of the territory, and then getting right into hunting and scouting. Do you have any preferences?"
