The air was crisp and cold despite the sun now resting high in the air. Funk E'tan rested on a tree limb, dimly watching the non action below him. He, admittedly, was hoping to see Raijin out here. Surely to come and give him a hard time again. But the Regime had been quiet for some reason and that concerned Funk, even if they weren't neighbors anymore. Must have been the old feud that got to him, but he wanted to know. And Foreign Affairs has had nothing to report, which led to him being out here. Still, it was way too cold out here. Maybe he should just head back. Scrambling down the tree with a light thud, he turned to walk away when a sound caught his attention.

The sound was a loud sigh that came from a slightly frustrated tom as he looked at the root he was trying to unearth. He had been trying to be so careful with it, but his claws ended up raking the sides anyways. "For the Protector's sake," he muttered to himself, before a breeze passed his nose, which alerted him that he wasn't alone. "You don't smell like you live covered in dirt," he meowed, without turning to look at him over his shoulder. "Which means you don't generally belong here, and if I'm right,... Primal Instinct?" There was something about the city that smelled differently than the forest, and at this point, if he understood recent history properly, Daley was confident that Primal Instinct was the onyl group in the city who would have an interest in traveling all this way.

Funk turned slightly on his heel, tilting to his head as he realized that weird noise he heard was a voice. Or not. He wasn't entirely convinced. He had seen some shape scraping around, but they moved so slow he didn't think much of it. That was the Nemesis at this point. Swiping his tongue over his paw a few times, he clapped his tail against the earth, "Aww. Big winner here." He smiled and wiped the back of his paw over his cheek a few times. "Though I get it, the winner's circle is exclusive. I was just wondering if a friend wandered over here, so I'll be on my way." While he said it, the Nemesis made no hurry in leaving. His pace was leisurely than anything else.

Daley's head turned slightly, his deep green eyes finally locking to his form. He recognized the creature. Not only was he Primal Instinct, but he was their leader. His head tilted to the side slightly. How interesting that this was where his day was leading him. "Why, not so fast. I don't remember asking you to leave," he meowed with a flicker of his lips. "I'm sure I could make a little room." Performatively, he scootched over a bit, before turning his body towards Funk E'tan. "Why don't you come over here and we can discuss this friend?" His words were slower, thoughtful, as he took in the sight.

"Oh? More interested in me than the root huh?" Funk said with a surprised flair, even if he wasn't. Most of the time, the Regime just chased him out. And well, that didn't change when he became Nemesis. Now it seems like things have taken a different turn. Must be because of the new Commanders. Still, the red bengal was cautious, just walking up about a pace or two away from where Daley had indicated. Sure, he knew Raijin had lost the Regime after losing a bet. A good way to go out, a Funk kinda way that made him not want to play poker with Gossamer Alessandra. Still, it bugged him when the other wasn't around to give him more hell. "I say friend wandered, but he may have wandered away." Funk tilted his head, blinking slowly, "I'm looking for former Commander Raijin."

"I'm unsure if that's exactly what I'd take out of this situation," he replied to him with a dazzling smile. "A little bit presumptuous, I think. Roots are awfully interesting, particularly at this time in the season." His tail flicked in amusement as he watched the other cat come slightly closer to him. His gaze shifted when the former commander was brought up. It had been a short time since Raijin's fall, but Daley had to admit, this tom was the first one to come looking for him. Well, other than Shule, who promptly beat the hell out of him for losing the Regime on a bet. But, as for outsiders, Daley had almost wondered if Raijin had had any friends at all because of how few looked for him. "Raijin," he repeated, his voice drawling over the name. "An interesting choice in companionship, if I do say so myself. If I may, what exactly are you looking for him for? Your answer will help determine my usefulness."

Funk shrugged, "I'm a gardener. I can agree with that. I'd find the roots more interesting, and horrifying if they could talk." He settled down, wrapping his tail around his paws. This tom was at least different than the usual breed of Regime Funk was used to. Not that he had enough information to get a read on him. "Fair observation." Funk purred. Raijin and he were like two peas in a pod, to where he was almost annoyed by the ex-Commander. He was the kind he wanted to annoy constantly, and he was curious about how the Regime would change under him. Still, he didn't really do anything except disappear one day. "I guess to say hi. I lent him a nice ribbon a little while ago for a date he said he was going on, and I was hoping to get it back." A lie? Perhaps. But heck, if you can't lie about not having your ribbon, what can you lie about?

"A gardener and a Nemesis? You really must be a man of many trades. I like that," he meowed, sounding equal parts amused and interested. He then laughed when he commented about the roots speaking. "Now, wouldn't that be a fun day? Trying to work the stores and treat clients when the roots screamed every time you chomped on them. I'd like to say I'm glad that they stay quiet, hmm?" He flashed an award winning smile. Funk was right in his assumption. Daley wasn't particularly like the other Regime cats. Not that he wasn't particularly dedicated to his craft, but because he wasn't as interested in pleasing the bosses. Daria had always gotten on him for that. His sister was boring, a stick in the mud, really, everything the Regime would want in a soldier. It had been a constant conflict since their youth that that wasn't exactly his MO.
He tipped his head. "Hmm, losing bets and ribbons, what an unfortunate situation for Rajin," he meowed, the humor in his voice still clear. "I have to say, if he had a ribbon when Gossamer was around, I'm sure she's taken it by now. Probably used it to lure a poor..." He stopped himself. No, he should not give away the commander's secrets. "I mean, probably traded it for something shiny. But, if you keep this between you and I, I can take you to the last spot where he was known to be. I can't promise he's still there, the longer it's been the more lax the guards, but it might be worth a shot. As long as you're willing to tell me a trade secret, at least. You're a gardener, I'm a gardener. I'm sure you know something that is useful that I don't," he meowed, his lips still bent into a charming smile.

"I doubt you're the only one." Funk twisted a claw through the fur on his tail, idling there to resist the urge to keep him from rearranging the plants in front of him. Or at least, tearing one apart slowly and imagining the screams. "I suppose I am too. Wouldn't get any work done if they screamed constantly." He figured the basic things, the medicine would scream when chewed up, the little tropical section in the zoo would scream for more water ceaselessly and the bickering whenever their roots touched. Sounded fun, it'd make things even more interesting. He'd be spending his time experimenting on the sudden sentient plants. Just to see, to know.
His ears tilted forward when Daley stopped himself. A lure, huh? Who'd be lured by a poor ribbon he could probably get anywhere? Though the question was more of what would Gossamer be luring. It made him briefly consider the market they were setting up, soon to be flooded by anything a cat could ever want. Funk didn't want anyone stepping on his toes there. Still, did he really want to find Raijin? If his fake ribbon was gone, what was the point? Knowing the Regime, he'd be beaten down to where he was a shell of his former self by now. How boring. "You think I'm one to rat you out? That hurts more than knowing my ribbon is gone." He purred, finally placing his paw on the ground. Small hairs twisted around it, he sighed, "I'm afraid I've been around these parts too much to trust anywhere you'd take me, but I'm curious. What kind of secret are you interested in?"
