Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The skinny white tom joined the collection of PI hunters. The scent of Fallclan had faded from his pelt over the last moon. The former Fallclan leader walked up beside Lux watching the other contestants down the mushrooms. His nose wrinkled in disgusted at the sight. "You definitely shouldn't eat that. Didn't your mothers ever teach you to not put everything you see in your mouths." He commented looking at Ruin and Nora. "Can you even find these in the Shaman den?" He aimed the remark at Ruin. "When they start foaming at the mouth because they ate poison. I guess we will know what their fate is then?" The white tom stated and padded forward and sniffed the array of mushrooms. His blue eyes narrowed and his flame pointed tail twitched angrily.
(Stomach cramps are acceptable yes? Apologies for the short replies, was on mobile but since things were being directed at Ruin I wanted to reply asap!)
Ruin waved his tail in a dismissive manor as he already felt the stomach ache coming on. He’d eaten quite a bit and he knew he was in for a ride but at the very least he knew he wouldn’t die. The one downside of the plant, it’s counteracted yarrow. He’d have to just deal with the pain until he was able to pass the plant. “My sister was a high sage. I know enough to not get myself killed here.”
"A High Sage from those Absum Lux cats? The ones with rats in their brains? The rogues I used to live with were not too fond of you guys." The white tom commented glancing over his shoulder back at Lux then turned his attention onto the mushrooms. Their sizes, shapes, and colors were all different.

“Yes however there are ones that will not kill you just make you sick.” Nora scowled at Lux. If humans ate it it wouldn’t kill her, though she sure would not feel great. Plus anything that brightly colored should not be eaten, the proper food color was brown or blood. Nora had eaten all sorts of things when she was a kitty pet and then when she was a loner in the city. She may have gotten sick half he time, but she had never gone hungry. Plus it garbage eating might give her an advantage even if she never had tried poisonous stuff.
Nora had not even give the thought that there was an option for Funk’s task. While yes having one owns thought were good but following your leader was vital. If the higher ups would not follow their leader then why would the masses follow them? Yes, strength was important, independence was necessary, skill was needed, but you could never question your boss. If you did the whole system feel apart.

Riamu (technically -kun at this point, though she had stubbornly insisted on being called Riamu only) arrived late, with the arrogance that was inborn from her youth and her parentage. She had not previously warned her father, or her siblings, that she was coming. Instead she chose to be fashionably late, her sleek cream and coffee bengal form appearing around the corner. She wore a lazy smile upon her soft features, walking with an easy-going strut.
"Hello, everyone," Riamu trilled with a friendly tone, though she in fact knew almost none of them. "Oh, are we eating the foliage now? Splendid. Dad, do you want me to eat one too?" Riamu turned her wide hazel eyes onto Funk E'tan, smiling brightly.
Senescence yawned, shrugging ever so slightly as her gaze lingered on Lux, before eventually drifting across all those present. "You can eat a mushroom, or you can leave." If she was a normal Proxy, then perhaps her word would have held no weight here. But that was no longer the case. Wardens no longer existed, making her and Innocentia, in effect, what the Wardens had been. Even if she was not Funk, Lux, and the other cats present, could not simply ignore what she said, try as they might. "Oh, and I'll force whoever drops out to eat the mushroom anyhow, so maybe just do it. Save yourself the trouble. Or don't." They could comply willingly, and move on, or by force, and be kicked out. As much as the idea of force feeding mushrooms to Lux and letting him choke on them or die from the effects seemed like a worthwhile pass time, she was also quite comfortable where she was laying and had no particular desire to get up as of yet.

"Lux, do you truly not trust me?" Funk had been listening somewhat to the conversations between everyone. They made a much bigger deal that he expected them to. Unsurprisingly, the plain ones had been the first taken. Which, in theory, was smart but also horribly boring. He wasn't the most impressed, "To remind you all. A. I've been studying herbs for several moons. As former Shaman, none of these mushrooms are lethal, the jobs you're all trying to get will kill you more than they will. And B. Even if they were lethal, I'd still expect you to eat them without question. You may be attempting to become the equivalent of Wardens, but you're still being given a task by your Nemesis. So I expect behavior as such." The bengal rarely cared enough to flaunt his power, but he needed to keep them in check. Innocentia and Senscence included, though if they were going to make a move, he figured they would have already. Just because the Warden position was gone didn't make them any higher in his eyes. Just Proxies in charge of their own little world, rooks and knights and bishops to a king.
"Now, the more you struggle, the more mushrooms Senescence can force down your throats. And no safety is guaranteed after one. So I suggest just picking one and getting it over with. That does include you too, Riamu. Pick one and I can cut the portion down to accommodate your size." He almost didn't want to acknowledge his daughter showing up fashionably late. This was a slight issue, he had no idea how she could do one of the challenges ahead. Even with the -kun, they hadn't been training for very long. But all the mushrooms were grown and altered to effect those a good bit bigger than her. They were all about the same size, those with small tops were compensated with long stems and vice versa.
"Trust you? I'd really like to darling but, you're not giving me much of a choice" He kept his tone calm and his gaze steady, not even a twitch of agitation. He grinned as the nemesis, though it was more unnerving that it was friendly. He didn't even spare Senescene a glance. "I find it hard to trust anyone who would happily see me murdered without a second thought. However if you really insist I eat one of these mushrooms then, why don't you pick for me, and ask nicely?" His grin was more genuine this time.
Ruin listened to the Nemesis speak, mildly annoyed these cats were taking their sweet time. Either eat the mushroom or leave so they could move on. He was beginning to fear he'd been mistaken at the identity of the mushroom. It had looked similar, that much he knew. Maybe it had been a different strain or he'd eaten too much but none the less, strange things began to draw his attention at the edges of his vision. They looked like cats.. but at the same time they didn't. Even as he glanced around he couldn't seem to look directly at any of them. They danced at the edges of his vision, bright glowing eyes staring at him. Then came the thrumming, a low insistent sound, similar to the sound of blood pulsing through his veins.
He closed his eyes and steadied himself. Even there their eyes seemed to dance in the darkness, more so as his stomach expressed it's displeasure. Reopening his eyes and steadying them on Funk he did his best to ignore the hallucinations for the time being. He's probably have plenty of time to deal with them later if his fears were correct.
Nora flickered her tail in irritation as she watched Lux more or less argue with Funk. Yet soon her tail began to spasm uncontrollably, in an effort to get it to stop she planted her paw on her tail. This was not the time, she needed to focus. Her stomach was gurgling though luckily she did not think she was going vomit. Her rear foot began to thump almost like a rabbit drawing unwanted attention to herself. This sucked it seemed her hind end was having a mind of its own. Hopefully if she did not have to move to much it would go away.
She spared a glance at Ruin who did not seem to be doing alright. Perhaps Funk had purposely pick mushrooms for all of them to not die but be burdened by some sort of illness. It seemed just like to thing that a poison obsessed cat would do. Nora would probably do it herself once or twice just to see what would happen but sometimes feed cats strange plants ended in death. That meant bodies and frankly she did not like dealing with that part, usually Jazz had minions she could borrow. Disappointingly he had yet to recruit any new ones here. Perhaps she would have to talk to him after this ordeal. In the meantime she tried to focus on Funk and her lower half trembled.

"We've clearly given you a choice. Either eat a mushroom willingly, or get out of my sight and let Senescence shove a few down your throat. There, choices. So get on with it Lux. It doesn't matter to me which. The longer you make us wait though, the more mushrooms everyone will have to eat." The Nemesis was hardly unnerved, an eerie calm coming over him as he stared past Lux with a bored expression. Sure, a little kickback was nice, but he had plenty of that with Senescence around. Funk didn't care for doormats either, but they at least needed to follow basic orders promptly. The longer they sat around here, the quicker the mushrooms would run through their systems. And then they'd have to take even more, which was just unnecessary. But Funk could see the side effects starting to take hold, and it excited him but filled him with anticipation, wondering just what the others would be dealt.

"Well aren't you boring these days." the dark Siamese scoffed with minimal offense. "Alright, alright don't get your tails in a twist I'll eat your precious mushroom." He stalked over to where Funk stood in front of the mushrooms. Without over thinking it he picked one of the more interesting looking mushrooms and swallowed it whole. "Happy now your majesty?" he teased Funk as he went to reclaim his place by the others.

(sorry for the late reply spent all day trying to get my new computer working it's never simple lol)
Reprise grimaced as each cat stepped forward and chose their mushrooms, with all honesty she wasn't too sure about any of the mushrooms. Her knowledge was perhaps limited, the only time she'd experienced mushrooms was when her twoleg owner had eaten some small white mushrooms. Perhaps if it was safe for the twoleg to eat these kinds of mushrooms, it would be safe for her too?
The she-cat turned to examine the other cats who had since joined, Lux seemed to be seriously stirring the pot, at least it was one way to stand out, she thought. It slightly surprised Reprise that her niece, Riamu had turned up. She wondered what her brother thought about two of his family members turning up. She almost chuckled at the thought. Nora on the other paw, she didn't know too much about. She could see the other she-cat was annoyed by Lux's determination not to eat a mushroom.
Reprise took a deep breath as Lux returned, it was now her turn to pick one. Stepping forward, she looked at the selection of beautifully place mushrooms. Knowing her brother, they all probably had some sort of side effect. "Nice selection of mushrooms you have." She commented. The silver pelted she-cat bent down and picked up the smallest lightly coloured mushroom and gulped it down. She turned, with a smile, and padded back to her position among the other competitors.
She was just about to turn to Nora and comment on how she wasn't looking so good, when a horrible feeling stirred in her tummy. "Nope, probably didn't choose the right one..." She turned her head, as her body convulsed and she vomited. Reprise quickly wiped a paw over her mouth. Great. Of course she chose the mushroom that resulted in vomiting.

Riamu made a small face to herself as Lux protested, albeit weakly, against the action of eating the mushroom. Did her father really want someone in a proxy position who questioned his commands from the beginning? The bengal princess moved to browse the array of mushrooms, perusing for a bit before selecting one of muted beige color, speckled with dots of black. She moved to her father's side, dropping it in front of him and watching her aunt vomit as Funk portioned it out for her. Whatever happened to her, she hoped it wasn't that.
After he had cut off an appropriate amount, she gripped it delicately between her teeth before chewing and swallowing. She didn't feel any immediate effects, though she didn't doubt that she'd feel something soon enough. In the meantime, she simply sat and waited, her voluminous tail draped over her front paws.

Bijou was the last to choose a mushroom. He found the ugliest of them all. The top a brightly golden and the flesh underneath a stark ivory similar to the color of his fur. The top of the mushroom had ugly line that criss crossed the top almost like a scar. The imperfection in the skin reminded him of the scar that ran across the bridge of his nose and cheek. He lapped the mushroom up only giving it a few chews and swallowing mostly whole. The bitter taste reminded him of the crowfood that he had been forced to eat when he was a rogue. He wondered if the mushroom was deadly and if he still had lives to spare from when he was Fallclan's leader. Or if his former clan's precious ancestors had ripped his lives away from him when he left.
"Tasty." He meowed and lazily licked his paw and ran it a cross his muzzle. He watched the various effects the mushrooms had on Reprise and Nora. He wondered what effect would happen to him as well.

Reprise was still trying to recover from the shock of vomiting, but holding her head high, she glanced sideways at the other cats as the last two slowly chose their mushrooms and gulped them down. She shivered, hoping she wouldn't be the only one with horrible side effects. It seemed so far her and Nora were the only ones suffering. She felt annoyed with herself that she had chosen the wrong Mushroom. She swore the small, milky white one she had chosen would be the right choice. Well, clearly not.
The silver striped Bengal glanced sideways at Riamu and Bijou as they chose their mushrooms. "Hopefully I'm not the only one..." she sighed, glancing at the rest of the cats.

Riamu felt almost nothing, until she stood to readjust her sitting position. Vertigo slammed into her head, causing her to stagger a step sideways, blinking rapidly. Oh. She was not a trained healer, so she wasn't sure what was happening to her, but the edges of her vision swam, and she was strangely dizzy, struggling to keep herself steady. Her thoughts flitted in a rapid stream, and she was unable to focus on one thing in particular.
"Hm," she spoke slowly, her words slightly slurred, sounding like it took an enormous effort to vocalize anything. "I feel... uh, bad. Just generally... bad," Riamu said, her circular green eyes flitting from cat to cat.

As Lux stood there he found it hard to focus, His blue eyes stretched wide in an attempt to focus but to no avail. A strange light-headed feeling washed over him, making it feel as if everything around him was spinning. He staggered sideways to a moment in an attempt to catch his balance, only to half sit, half fall when he had spotted moving. Squeezing his eyes shut he tried to fight off the dizzy spell that had taken over him but, it didn't seem as if it were going to pass so easily. "I second that notion of feeling generally bad" he murmured, trying to resist the urge to just lay down.
Funk picked up the side of the leaf and set the pile aside, satisfied with everyone's choices. Well, for the most part. As most suspected, none of the mushrooms were truly safe. But they were all rather tame for the most part, maybe enough to where some of the symptoms were placebo effect. He didn't know, did not particularly care. Though watching everyone struggle definitely made him feel better. Now that he was so busy, he didn't get much chance to drug others. So this was a nice change, shame he could only ask them to do this once.
"Yeah, that'll happen. But a good night's sleep will clear you all out, no problem, if the effects don't lessen by the time this is all over. Anyway, should we do Innocentia's challenge next while everyone's here or should we wait or do you really care?" Funk turned to look at his Proxies, figuring it'd be more entertaining that way but who knew what they were thinking.
