Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
When Commander Mars found Glowstar she was rolling back and forth over his border and off of his border like a rolling pin. The white of her fur was grass stained green and DayClan's scent was now all over a random portion of it. The entire time she was rolling she kept singing up a scale of notes and then down a scale depending on which way she rolled. The perky leader only stopped when she noticed him and then immediately rolled back over to the other side of the border staring up at him innocently before slowly tip toeing her paw back over the border with a devious little smirk, "Heyah friend."
Glowstar stood up fully, "So I wanted to touch base with you about how we've been doing. Mainly because my only source of news has been SunClan who claims and I quote, "The dirt freaks have taken a higher power they can never fully contain nor understand and must be obliterated by our combined light." To which I told them that demons like Foxstar could burn up in holy lighting so we better be careful and that's how I got an entire patrol to hate me in one day. So y'know, things to catch up on."
Honestly, Mars was debating whether or not she had gone mad. And honestly, he was less than pleased to find her rolling around on his border and covering it with the scent of DayClan. For now, he wouldn't mention this though. It was something that could be repaired shortly. For now, it would be better to hear her out . He smiled and shook his head. "You seem to be in a good mood today..." As he listened to her he found himself laughing despite himself as his true personality shone through for just a moment before he caught himself, cleared his throat and straightened up once more.
"There have been a few attempts by SunClan to free Foxstar, but they have been unsuccessful up to this point. Containing her is tricky though. She's smart if nothing else." He wouldn't point out that she was most likely responsible for the loss of his first life. There really wasn't a point in that At this point, war with SunClan wasn't a question. It was a fact. With Foxstar gone, it was the best time to attack SunClan and try to weaken them further. "Despite the constant threat from SunClan, we have been doing well though. We have more cadets than we know what to do with at the moment." Of course that was partially because of Venus and Fjord. To have fourteen tykes promoted at once...He'd never seen a litter of that size before. "Besides irritating SunClan, how have you been?" He tilted his head to the side. While he had tried his best to come off as a strong and confident leader since the start of his Command, Mars seemed to be having trouble holding his facade up in front of Glowstar at this point and had reverted back to the same cheerful act that he took with most of his soldiers.
She did crack an elegant smile when Commander Mars managed to loosen up with a laugh. That may have been the greatest sound she heard all day.
"Heh, well you took one of our apprentices, Mistypaw so I can see how things are stacking up for you even more. Basically a lot of SunClan cats have joined DayClan since Foxstar's gone. I created a feather called a whispy feather that allows DayClan cats who leave the ability to come back whenever they like. A topic I definitely would like to touch on with you. However, since we're in an alliance I'll give you some good pieces of gossip first! I might join in an alliance with FallClan, you know Whispyfeather now, one of her kits got stuck in a two-leg trap and Thrushstar saved her. Ever since Thrushstar and I have been meeting with one another more and I feel only good will blossom from this. MoonClan and DayClan are also back on good terms. Burningstar and I are considering abandoning SunClan, but are hesitant about it since SunClan's actually pretty chill without Foxstar."
Her smile was as gentle as it always was, but it broke into a somber expression, "Um. I was actually wondering if maybe we could meet up more often?" She waved a paw quickly as if dismissing her own words, "Look, I know you're a good guy Mars, but right now I really need to be reminded of that more often. Because you have some of the greatest cats I've ever had the great honor of knowing and I think about them every waking hour of my life. And you know how when you lose someone you think, if I just had one more chance to see them again I'd be happy. I love Miracle and I love Fjord and I love a lot of people in the Regime and when I see them after a long time I feel amazing and happy. But when I see Kaisra and Serenity it's absolute hell cause I don't know when or if they'll be back again. There's no pain like mourning the living and then there's no stab wound deeper than loving and losing. And if I'm feeling that than I know Shule is too. So given the unfair situation that your ally and your mercenary superior is forced to go through because of Foxstar could Shule and I maybe have the right to meet up once a moon so we can reunite with our family? Because none of us chose this and I honestly don't know how long I can keep from breaking inside."
"Well...The only thing about Foxstar is that I do realize I can't keep her here forever. Eventually she will have to be returned to SunClan. The only reason I am still holding her here is because of the threat she poses to the Regime should I let her free. We did not want this war with SunClan. SunClan brought this war on themselves with their treatment of Shule, the tykes, and their blatant attack on our home. I can't keep the leader of a clan imprisoned for the rest of her life though. It will bring more danger to the Regime than anything else. SunClan will never let up their attack until they have Foxstar back but if they regain Foxstar, she will continue her assault." While he realized this, he had yet to find a suitable exchange for the SunClan leader's freedom. That was why he was holding her now. If only he could be sure SunClan would promise peace, he would release her, but a promise from them was hardly something he could count on.
But when she brought up her question, he frowned. He didn't like the idea of letting young cats meet with cats from another clan. It could confuse them and make them doubt where their loyalties were. At the same time, he was confident in Shule and knew that she would look out for them and he couldn't hardly blame either of them for wanting to see tykes that they both called their own. After a moment he let out a long sigh. "This situation is far more complicated than most realize. As a leader I cannot condone something like this, but as a father myself, I understand where you are coming from. So in the end, would it not be best to leave this decision up to the young ones that were affected the most by this?" While he knew that this wasn't an ideal situation, he couldn't exactly bring himself to tell her no. The situation was a unique one in that Foxstar had manipulated everyone concerning this situation. By the time it had come to light, it had been far to complicated to ever properly work out. He offered her a small smile. "I cannot speak for them in this matter. I only wish to avoid more confusion for them in the long run."
"Yes and as Foxstar's best friend I can't tell you that the worst idea you ever came up with is not executing her on the spot. But I am saying that she's dominated clans and killed many cats and you're actually winning so far, and just. You're being too nice honestly? But look the Pride alliance has been going great, SunClan's getting along with DayClan. We're now in an alliance with Absum Lux. I think you should consider joining the Pride alliance and not just DayClan's. If you do SunClan can't harm you anymore and let me put this in perspective. In the Pride alliance we have Sun, Night, Day, and Absum. Foxstar took a life from Burningstar of NightClan. She enslaved DayClan. Peachstar, the new leader of Absum Lux was leader of SpringClan when Foxstar enslaved it. If you join the Pride and SunClan ever acts out against you the whole Pride would turn on her. You would be safe and have the power of four clans should anyone ever cross you," Glowstar promised.
"It's good to keep enemies like SunClan close after all, but think about it. If you do decide to join the alliance though, you'd have to get over this idea of confusing cadets. We have an apprentice gathering every moon, it's a symbol of trust in the Pride so that our apprentices grow up valuing the devotion and efforts of the Pride and cultures of the other Pride clans."
Glowstar watched Commander Mars anxiously, she liked liars, she could count on them to lie and cheat. But noble and trustworthy cats like Commander Mars, well... Who knew what they would end up doing in the end? The only thing she did know was that Renegade Regime was more powerful than they gave themselves credit for, but would be untouchable if they joined the Pride.
"Killing Foxstar would have solved nothing, especially if she had more lives to spare. It would have deepened the rift with SunClan since we would still end up either negotiating her release or killing her until her last life was used which would have been unnecessarily cruel." The only reason the Regime had entered this war was because of Shule's kidnapping and the attack on their home. Otherwise he would have left SunClan be and avoided all of this.
As he listened to Glowstar, his frown only deepened. Join the Pride? Ally with SunClan just so they would leave the Regime alone? He knew his answer before he even said it. "That is not something I am willing to do. No matter how much power Foxstar may have, I cannot justify entering an alliance with her after everything she has done. My soldiers would never accept this and I wouldn't expect them too. Many of them have lost comrades in this war she caused. I have no problem with the other members of the Pride, but for the Regime, joining that alliance would be the cowards way out." He knew it might sound foolish to turn down such an offer, but what would they lose for the sake of this unsteady peace? "While the Regime has alliances, SunClan cannot be one of them at the moment. The crimes Foxstar have committed are too great."
Glowstar's eyes seemed to glaze over in boredom the more he talked, but once he spoke of the pride her eyes softened, a slow playful smile descended across her lips, "One of these days you'll say something that'll actually surprise me."
She rolled her shoulders back and for once she seemed calm, but more than that a little worried as if he would judge her, "Listen, I've killed a lot of people in my league days and one of the most curious aspects about being a killer is when the victims family forgave me. I never really got it before, but I get it now. You'll always be trapped in this anger, this question of why, for as long as you live until you learn to forgive those that hurt you. Wounds like these are too deep to simply get over, to forgive those that harm you is freeing yourself. It's a process of remembering what they did, but not letting that pain rule you. Look at how it already has. Would you have ever pictured yourself turning away a queen from seeing their kits? Did you ever think you'd see one of your own attacking an apprentice out of fear of SunClan? You can win the war SunClan has put on you, but you've allowed them to change who you and your people are. Letting them control how you feel is still letting them control a part of you. You can argue you feel nothing, but I know you're mad at what they did to Shule, hurt for those lost, fear that you can lose more. Any good leader would. But someday friend, you'll have to forgive so they don't have this hold on you," Her words came out surprisingly light like gentle rays of sunshine.
Commander Mars was strong, but she did worry for him. A lot. He demanded himself to be better than who he was, she knew that he'd hardly approve ever feel accomplished if he ever fell short of it. The expectations he put on himself was a weight too heavy for anyone, she could only hope he lifted the weight and wasn't crushed beneath it all. Beyond the scope of Mars there was also the undeniable presence of fear in the Regime. When the next SunClan attack would be, what would they do with Foxstar, how would this all go away? Fear is mother to corruption, it nurtures her well, she just had to hope fear was too weak to nurture such a thing and that the Regime wouldn't stray towards it. Truthfully she suspected Commander Mars would disregard everything she said and maybe if it was an off day yell in her face, but she had to at least try.
Mars listened to what she had to say without responding at first. Of course part of him knew she was right. He had changed since SunClan had attacked the Regime. He had done things he never would have seen himself doing since SunClan had first began causing trouble. Turning away Whispyfeather...Then there was the time Xuxa had attacked Duskpaw for no real reason. He hadn't been happy about that of course and he had dealt with it accordingly, but in the end he couldn't say the changes in the Regime were unwarranted. Was he truly supposed to take the cowards way out and offer peace to SunClan in exchange for his honor? It just didn't sit well with him and he doubted it would sit well with his soldiers. The Regime would prove to the rest of the clans that they were strong enough to fend off any that might oppose them and that they wouldn't back down to a manipulative snake like Foxstar.
"My actions are not ones I would have imagined myself taking. That is true. But...At the same time, I can't just worry about myself anymore can I? The entire Regime is looking to me and the superiors to solve the issue of SunClan and unfortunately, making peace with them is out of the question at the moment. They have done too much for that now. When Foxstar finally does return home, I doubt things will be any easier for us. We are far beyond alliances and peace talk unfortunately. There was a stubborn look on his face. He wouldn't be changing his mind on this. He was not afraid of SunClan, but he also refused to be walked on by them.
Glowstar breathed out with a sympathetic look, "Yeah," was all she said in almost a sing song tone. She looked the other way for a moment as if remembering something from a long time ago before looking back at him, "If you ever need me just let me know. There's help if you just ask, it's what alliances are for."
"I will don't worry." Mars chuckled. "DayClan had been a great ally to us despite the continuous trouble from SunClan." He offered a small smile. "While I cannot afford the coming battle with SunClan the Regime will not fall back on the mistakes of our past. I can promise you that."
