Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Lark wasn't bothered per say, but there was a gleam of concern in her eyes as she acquiesced. "Ok, ok. You'll get dizzy. Let's go." The calico Raiser made a different turn at the upcoming tunnel intersection, heading instead for the surface. "What do you expect to see up there?" She asked, curious as to what tunnel-born cats thought of the surface.

"Light. The other cadets said their first few times on the surface they spent just letting their eyes adjust." She proudly told Lark, feeling smarter with that little tidbit of knowledge. "And I mean I hope to see things other than brown, dirt gets boring after awhile. But thankfully I can no leave the tunnels whenever I want!"
"Your eyes should adjust in less than fifteen minutes. I think you'll find it beautiful on the surface. I do- I was born up there." Lark glanced back down the tunnel, watching the growing coin-sized light increase in intensity. "There's so many more colors up on the surface."

"You were born on the surface!" Phobia exclaimed before blundering forward to press closer to the older she-cat, one who was quickly becoming someone she admired. "Does that mean you weren't born in the Regime? If you weren't born here how did you find us? What happened? What was it like growing up on the surface?"
Lark kept a steady face- she didn't like to delve too much into her past, but she also didn't want to burden the young she-cat with her woes. "I was born to rogue parents." She explained, her tone even. "They abandoned me in the tunnels when I was apprentice-aged, and I joined the Regime. It's much more stimulating on the surface- there's always movement or noises or lights. Down here it's a simpler environment."

"Do you miss it then?" Phobia asked curiously. To her it sounded a bit like Lark at-least felt like she was missing something. But perhaps the cadet was misinterpreting the situation, not the best at reading others yet. "I think I would miss the tunnels if I left, even if they do get a bit dull and boring. I still grew up here." Not that she ever planned on leaving, she felt at home among the enclosed spaces. Not even realizing how most cats wouldn't be able to move into the regime and handle the change; Lark one of few.
"At times. But the Regime has been good to me, and it's my home now." Lark smiled at her, knowing their backgrounds were incredibly different. "We can't help where we're born. But the tunnels are safe and they function well as a base." The Raiser Superior stopped speaking as she approached the growing tunnel, blinking hard as her eyes adjusted to the intense sunlight. "Don't stare at the sun, by the way. That's dangerous."

"Thanks! That's very nice advice and it's appreciated." Phobia responded, not aware that some might find the advice insulting. Thinking Lark was insulting their intelligence, then again it was a little different for Regime cats. Ones who might be lacking what others consider common knowledge about the above ground.
The two finally emerged into the faintly warm glow of the afternoon, the light blinding around them. Lark stood still, keeping her eyes closed into slits as they fought to adjust from the darkness of the tunnels. It took several long beats, but she slowly was able to open her eyes, turning them on Phobia to assess how she was doing. "It's warmer than the tunnels." Lark commented, purring as she remembered how pleasant sunshine was.

"It is. I like the feeling of the sun. Spring reached above ground quicker than it'll reach us in the tunnels." She responded as she squinted against the light, trying to look at everything but still adjusting to the brightness. "I mean I guess. I don't really know but it sounded smart right?"
"It did." Lark chuckled, breathing in the heady scents of the blossoming earth. "It was smart too. The tunnels are more resistant to temperature change, so it usually feels warmer- or colder- up here. Just a few more moments and you should be seeing more." For her, the silhouettes of the trees were solidifying into their true shape, gaining the bright tinges of green from their buds.

Cadet Phobia stared at the trees with open awe, internally she decided from them on she would be spending more and more time above ground. She loved the tunnels but above ground seemed so much more dynamic. "There's so much... stuff!" She laughed, the chirping of birds pulling her eyes up towards the sky as she let out a little laugh. "How much of this is ours?" She knew the clans had borders and the like, she wondered if the regime owned a lot of land, or not much at all since they spent much of their time underground.
