Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Rushingriver had gone a ways out following her son's scent trail before letting out a sigh sitting down at the edge of a clearing, looking up at the mountains in the distance. It wasn't hard to figure out where Speedhawk was wandering.
Her son had been obsessing over the disappearance of their members along with a great deal of their allies in the incident as SwiftClan had taken to calling it. He was determined to find where they had gone and potentially bring them back... or find where they'd gone.
'They deserve to be brought back home if they're lost mom, wasn't that what you told me when you rescued those kits ages ago?'
Rushingriver sighed, her son had gotten her soft heart. Her soft heart had made her leave home and risk life and limb to rescue three kits from an abusive mother. A she cat that had been so scary to a soon to be young Rushingpaw, that she'd been afraid to go back home. Instead taking the three kits to WaterClan.
And the rest was history. After that point Rushingriver's fate lay with the clans, and SwiftClan had been what she'd returned to when WaterClan was destroyed.
But it had been so long outside her own children since she'd had the care of another young cat in her charge. And with her thoughts troubled by where her son was roaming...
Rushingriver sighed lowering her gaze to her paws. "What am I doing?" She mumbled.

"Youre far from camp, huh?" called a soft voice. Blacksky had found herself wandering as well, but instead of following someones scent, she was just that. A wanderer. She poked her head out from the underbrush, slinking out until she could stand tall, giving a small smile to Rushingriver. "Learning the new borders?" she asked, tilting her head. "Or does something else occupy your time?"
Rushingriver lifted her head and her pelt heated with embarassment at being surprised. "Ah well," She cast her gaze to the distance letting out a sigh. "Just, was trying to check and see where my son ran off to." She admitted.
She let out a sigh. "After that freak earthquake... he's insistent on trying to find where all those cats that got stuck on the other side of the chasm went..."
She shook her head. "Doesn't matter that the chasm stretches from between two high points, he's insistent that if they're lost somewhere, someone should try to bring them home."
"And... I'm not sure how I feel about him doing that." Rushingriver admitted.

The tortiseshell warrior found herself nodding in understanding. What a grand undertaking for one cat. "He cant do it alone," she agreed, her tail tip flicking, "And exploring the site of an earthquake isnt the safest way to go about your business," she chuffed, trying to make some humour out of the situation.
"I could help if you'd like another set of eyes looking for him, or we could do something to get your mind from him," she offered, "Either way, he is a strong warrior, and he does keep coming back, I think he'll be alright."
Rushingriver looked thoughtful. She had been considering going to the crater, but wasn't confident of the sureness of her paws. "Perhaps that would be a good idea. Going that way..."
"and he's... kept coming back so far." Rushingriver admitted, "But he's been taking longer and longer each time. I think he's sad that he missed out on getting with Sliprabbit." The she cat sighed.
Her son had been interested in the she cat, but had gotten caught up in other things, and opted to wait. And now it was too late, Sliprabbit had found herself a mate and Speedhawk seemed more... aloof with his clanmates as a result.
It felt less like his search was to bring them back... and more an excuse to be away.
"But yes, I think a good walk would make me feel better... and who knows there were cats that fell in that hole, perhaps they might need assistance!" Rushingriver added, the idea of another objective making her perk up a little.

"I'd be happy to lend a paw," she decided, moving closer to the other she-cat so they could better accompany each other to the quake site. She listened quietly to her concerns, thinking to herself, toms seemed so silly sometimes. "When we bring him back to camp I'll keep an ear out for someone he could settle down with," she chuckled, hoping that the thought would ease the mother's mind.
The idea of finding more than just Speedhawk was an interesting one though, she had no idea- other than the Swiftclanners who had disappeared might have also escaped their clans. She wondered if they would find anyone at all, let alone cats from a different clan. It excited her, "The faster we get there the better off they might be," she agreed.
Rushingriver let out a purr. "Perhaps a bit of matchmaking along with training my new apprentice will help keep me busy." She said lightly. Trying to let the weight on her heart ease.
"And you're right, let's be off then." Rushingriver said as she took the lead, tail lifted. "We won't find anyone just waiting around after all."

Blacksky padded after the other warrior, a smile on her face as she looked foreward to the adventure. "I forgot you got an apprentice this go-round, have you brought them out yet?" she asked, trying to keep the conversation going as best she could. She wasnt the most talkative cat around but she could tell that Rushingriver could use every distraction she had in her arsenal.

"I had one not too long ago, poor thing went and ran off though, I never even got to start a lesson with him, but I hope wherever he is he's doing alright. Seemed like a good kit growing up, so I feel bad he didnt get to make it through apprenticeship," the tortie explained, "You'll do fine though, you obviously care a whole lot," she complimented, chuckling at the passing of time, "I'll get my chance again at some point, and then you'll have to give me some pointers."
Ruhsingriver let out a soft sigh. "It is a shame when they leave before you get the chance to teach them."
She cast her gaze to the distance envisioning a trio of young cats that had grown up and run off when WaterClan was flooded. She hoped the three of them were doing well. Reedpaw, Fastpaw, and Tempestpaw....
She let out a soft purr of laughter turning back to Blacksky. "I can certainly do that. Perhaps I'll have you help, I think you could make a good pretend badger for some of the lessons." She said lightly.
"It's hard when they move on and leave you." She murmured... "But they all do eventually one way or another. I guess I hoped that maybe with SwiftClan always moving... my kits would be fine staying this time."
An ache as she was reminded of the trio she'd lost.

The warrior grinned, chuckling at the thought of pretending to be a badger or a fox, being able to help with tracking training when they got to it. She enjoyed the idea quite a bit, though she had never planned on raising any kits of her own, teaching had always been one of her favourite things to do. It came almost naturally.
She watched though as the other's tone changed, wondering just what past Rushingriver had. She was a relatively young cat herself, and hadnt spent much of her adolescence getting to know anyone, but spent it working hard learning all she could to survive. "How many kits have you had? Do you know where they went too?"
Rushingriver hummed. "Well... Speedhawk, Swiftriver, Quickpaw and Fastpaw were my own kits." She admitted. "But I adopted a trio of kits when I was really young myself."
"I ran off and joined a clan with them it was so bad! That was how I got my name Rushingpaw!" Rushingriver said with a laugh. "They caught me rushing around trying to get all three kits safely across the border and it became my name. "

"You weren't even an apprentice yourself and you adopted kits?" she asked, flicking her tail tip in interest, "Thats amazing... I got dropped off by some two-legs in the woods one day, a Swiftclan patrol came and picked me up and the rest was history." she explained herself, thinking of her mostly blurred memory of her past, "I didnt make very many friends then, and even then now with everyone having gone, I feel like I have even less."
Rushingriver laughed weakly. "Yeah the three kits were getting abused. I found them and gosh I was so young I didn't know what to do. I just grabbed them and ran once their mother was away. She came after me so I was too scared to go back to where my mother was. So I opted to run to WaterClan. IT's uh... gone now, a lot of it became part of SwiftClan... which was then scattered with the earthquake."
"But I'm glad you were picked up, being taken in by a clan was the best thing to ever happen to me." Rushingriver admitted. "And... it is hard to lose cats. I miss Tempestwind, Fastflight and Reedspirit every day. But I know they're happy and that at the very least I left a good impact on their lives."
She turned to Blacksky, "And I'm sure even if you don't think you had many friends, the clan cares about you. And if it helps you can think of me as a friend.. if you're all right with that I know I'm not the most exciting cat in the clan." She said with a mrrow of laughter
