Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Badgerbee hadn’t talked with Jester before but recently heard heard about the cat. But…he was confused. Some referred to Jester as a she, but then later he’d hear he and even later he’d heard they. So which was it? Curiously, he’d listened in on more conversations, trying to make sure they were all about the same cat. So far he’d confirmed that, but was still confused as to what gender Jester was. Only way to find out was to ask the source, he thought. So that’s what he was doing. The orange and black furred tabby paced through camp on a hunt for this cat named Jester.
It wasn't too often Jester mingled with their 'clanmates,' as good a conversationalist as they were, they preferred to spend their time idling, mainly alone. Perhaps that was the reason clan-life had confused them so much, because they hadn't yet taken the time to sit down and learn. But really, they wouldn't be here forever, so what was the point? It wasn't like any of this was going to stick, it was just a temporary placement. And quite a nice one at that, with the fact that they hardly had to do much at all, just the bare minimum to prove they'd been pulling their weight. I was fun, sure it was, but they expected it to get old soon enough. And that would be fine, just as it always had been.
"Pardon," they said quietly, staring at the rather large tom just in front of them. They had been on their way to the prey pile, pick up a meal before they went out and pretended to do something useful. Of course they weren't paying much attention, they hardly did, and there wasn't so much as a sorry for when they ran into the tom. He had been in their way to begin with, to be fair. When he didn't budge quick enough, Jester decided instead to move past him, giving a small annoyed huff as they went to pass.
Maybe it was this reasoning as to why Badgerbee didn’t know who Jester was. It didn’t seem like the cat was ever in camp to be him with. While deep in though, he run right into another cat nearly sending both of them sprawling all over the ground. Big, bulky Badgerbee hadn’t been paying any attention and now he’d practically taken this cat out. His mother would have his ears for such rudeness. “No it’s my fault. I wasn’t watching where I was go in.” He glanced up after apologizing when an idea struck him. “Hey! Do you know who Jester is?” Unknowingly to Badgerbee he was speaking to said cat.
Jester stopped, turned, to give the tom an indescribable look. Not unlike a sneer, but less mean-spirited. "No big deal," he said without any hesitation, voice drawled and lazy, one that matched his lop-sided smirk.
Hey! Do you know who Jester is? He gave the tom an immediate suspicious look, eyes narrowing slightly. It wasn't often anybody asked for him, who even really knew who he was, and his eagerness was almost off-putting. "Maybe I have, why do you ask?" He inquired, moving closer to him so that the distance between them was only about a few paw-steps.
“Had a question to ask them. Plus, I wanted to let them, haven’t really had the chance. While Badgerbee may look big and intimidating to some, he was really a softie. Most figured that out only moments after meeting him. The black and orange pelted tom tilted his head, confused why the cat before him was acting weird but also trying to puzzle out who he was talking to. Had he not met this cat either?
"Well, then, I suppose you're looking in the right place. That's me." She laughed at the puzzled look on the tom's face, tapping a paw to his chest as some form of playful shove.
"Don't look so confused, big guy, what's the question?" She moved back, putting a slight distance between them, flashing him a grin,
A blink, a tilt of his head, and a shrug later and the tom took a seat. "So...are you a boy or a girl?' Even looking at Jester, Badgerbee was having a hard time telling. Maybe this was why everyone else kept using different pronouns when talking about the cat. An honest mistake, but kind of a rude one too. He couldn't see anyone calling him a girl or his mom a boy. He's too large and his sweet mama is too pretty to be anything but a girl. But looking at the attractive cat before him, he was at a loss.
