There were times a plenty when Uta's kits would get unfortunately paired with him, Adelaide's litter barely getting the bare minimum acknowledgement that kinda made it awkward for everyone else. Usually the others being the third party as the kits grew increasingly annoyed or frustrated with him to the point of talking to the group or using them to indirectly talk to Uta if ever. All the while, he was stone-faced - if a fire was ablaze next to him he never felt it and he never once changed or altered his attitude or habits for them. They were nothing more than just 'related dna' after all and unfortunately that seemingly meant nothing to him. Perhaps he finally learned his lesson with the last litter being in PI, ceasing his flirting with all females, or at least any kit-bearers. He was only about 27-kits too late but hey, better late than never. So he was once again paired with 'dna', and this time was different. Not only did the 'third party' flake out to tend to other matters making it just the two of them, but it was also his youngest son Tarn. First patrols always went the same, small attempts to talk, connect, or just remarks and passive-aggressiveness that would eventually evolved into complete animosity or ignoring him on later patrols. Meanwhile, Uta was indifferent all the while - he never minded at all and that was just the problem.
The tom glanced around camp for the stand-out pattern of fur he was rather fond of. Still, this kitten was smart - he learned real fast to return the emotional-distance in full and that made this patrol a little bit unpredictable. That should mean a patrol with the two of them would be drab, maybe even painfully boring and better off having them independently secure the borders on their own but c'est la vie - they were going to be stuck with each other for the day or at least until they got the job done.
"Tarn-kun" the tom called, firm but professionally polite as always.

The grey lykoi tom padded up to his patrol partner...which was none other than his father. If you could even call him that. Even as a youngling he had the distinct impression his father didn't care much for them and he made it apparent he didn't care much for his father. Uta was Uta to him, an annoying thorn in his side but like anyone else in the group. He was just another body to count in the group that seemed to never stop growing. If it wasn't for his mother and sister Tarn-kun wouldn't even have to acknowledge this annoyance. Unfortunately he did care for his mother and sister so put up with Uta. Didn't mean he liked it though.
Trying hard to not roll his eyes Tarn-kun nodded in acknowledgement to the other cat. The faster they did this the faster he could go do something...anything else but this. What a long patrol this would be.

(im making this up since i asked about pi territory it's wip with the plot and i'm still catching up with that xD feel free to correct me on any details)
"It's just a normal patrol to secure the border along the coast." he paused with a look of wonder lightly painted on his face as if not sure if it was useful or worth mentioning the next part. "It's just a thought, but I get the feeling we were going to be asked to look more thoroughly this time, perhaps to expand or move... eh, but it's just the two of us to asset so I doubt it will be expected of us or be quizzed on our return." the tom shrugged and seemed ready to not give it a second thought, but at least he was semi-thoughtful of keeping up to date and involved with the conditions around them as prior he was used to being so disengaged he spent almost a whole week in DayClan just sightseeing and no one but Accalia noticed. The perks of being a wallflower.

Again Tark-kun looked around as his father spoke but did keep an ear out for him so he was in a way paying attention. "Yeah okay something like that sure." His tail flicked away behind him as he looked around their surroundings. As a matter of fact he looked every which way except for where his father stood. The trainee knew what he was doing, he was smart enough to piece tings together which was something he was always good about, even as a small youngling. Also why he has such disdain for this cat walking next to him.

"Let's go then" he turned with a tail flick and casual vibe that could've meant he was oblivious to his son's avoidance or completely content on not acknowledging it. Nine out of ten chances it was the latter, it was his default - you don't build a skill of being able to worm into people hearts by completely missing cues and not figuring out intentions. No, it just came down to whether or not he cared, whether or not to charm them. Lately these days no one seemed worth the effort of bonding with anymore. But he was suppose to be doing better than that.
He glanced over his shoulder with a blank expression to Tarn as they left the camp. "Have you gone hunting yet?" He resumed looking forward with no other follow up discussion.

"Of course I have. At least once or twice by now." It wasn't a total lie as he had gone hunting...but it was only one time. Honestly he was still so new he sucked at it, but he wasn't going to admit that. Not even if his life depended on it. Tarn-kun tried to remain alerts around his surroundings yet his ear kept twitching with annoyance as he thought more and more about the tom next to him...his "father." If it weren't for his mother would Uta be trying to warm up to him and his sister? Maybe not at all even. That was where most of the hate came from: that he honestly didn't care. Tarn-kun learned this quickly learning to guard his heart from this tom. Uta couldn't be trusted.

"What have they taught you so far? Or is it still just 'practice'?" He genuinely didn't remember his training days as far as how quicly it progress and things had changed around quite a bit since then. Mentoring was 1-on-1 and now Athalia at the moment was solely in charge of mentoring the external affairs trainees. Would Tarn-kun be ready for a little hunting while they were out or would it be better to suffice in practicing or even teaching this kit something new? He waited patiently with no concern for their surroundings in contrast to his son. He walked these paths and these trees enough to know what was in them and how little their threat meant to him.
(Tarn-kun would sooo get along with his half brothers Noose and Neotelos xD)

Tarn-kun kept his eyes away from his father but his tail began to swish. "Yes I do in fact know how to hunt...it's not a hard thing to grasp. You find the prey, you carefully stalk it, leap when ready, then quick kill. Anyone would know that." You could just feel the eye roll with what he said, even if he didn't in fact give an eye roll. The tom wasn't some youngling anymore, as a matter of fact he was closer to being an adult than being a baby!

"Ah good, I was worried they weren't teaching you how to lure a snake out of it den, or use twoleg food to bait larger prey, or knowing when to go for the hawk versus the fledglings - it saves me the time of telling you details like all birds hold grudges when you steal their young, the crows are just especially petty about it telling their whole flock about it." He made a small 'hmph' laugh and was glad he didn't have to start from scratch- could anyone imagine Uta spending forever teaching each and every little detail to his kit? It wasn't like the trainees he could half-ass teaching. Killing was an art with nuisances and with skill and creativity came reaping rewards in the form or fresh-kill or a masterpiece made with blood and addition slaying methods that could mean as little as still showing up with fresh-kill during food scarcity or mean as much as having a strategic and unexpecting advantage over any enemies.

Tarn-kun honestly hoped he wouldn't have to back up his claim but if he did he would just fake it till he made it. He had seen plenty of trainee's do it so it's not like it was a foreign idea. Still he wanted to prove to himself he could do anything and didn't need his father's stupid praise or acknowledgement. Not really...he didn't need it...he had his sister and mother. Who needed a father anyway?

"Today might be fun after all, an extra paw could make for some interesting hunts." Not everything he did was common of other hunters or taught to trainees. Usually he only hunted with others it by order of a hunting patrol or otherwise a form of tag-teaming larger or multiple prey in groups that required careful ambushing, it was not something he casually agreed to with the except of Accalia joining him or vice-versa. For instance though, when he did voluntarily accept 'hunting' with others meant accepting a decoy or disposable distraction to takedown a similar larger/multiple prey/ambush required prey with little to no risk for him. As far as he was concerned it was just survival of the fittest if they couldn't get themselves out of a dangerous situation he put them in knowing he would have full advantage unlike them. Of course the group did not take such things lightly and was done very rarely with group members and the times it did happen... well they were successful so there was no one to come back tell on him no was there?
"Good - our options are endless, do you have any methods you like or in mind for today? I don't mind assisting with any setup or back up you need." Uta rather generously offered being a tom who so rarely did. He guess it would be just like hunting with Accalia, except he enjoyed her company and everything about it, this was more for her than the tom.

"Thanks but no thank you, I do not need any assisting with anything and can handle things myself. I'll hunt in a way that works for me and...uhh...you can go do your own thing. Over there." Tarn-kun pointed in a generalized area but away from himself. He didn't believe that Uta wanted to help him in the slightest and so wanted to accept nothing from him. How could he when he didn't believe this tom to be genuine in the slightest? Was there ever anything real or genuine when it came to Uta, or was what he did for his own self interest like most of the cats within The League? At least his mother wasn't like that.
(Oh I got some plans that will make Tarn SO MAD...I hope you enjoy what I got in store.)

"Ah, that's sounds boring -" he looked over the direction he gestured in. Though he didn't object to it, it still was a disappointment since the possibilities were undeniably exciting on their own. "Are you planning something interesting I don't know about?" he teased the tyke with a smile, getting closer and narrowed eyes made direct eye contact with the intention to unravel any tells; to try to guess at what the wonderfully creative mind of unhampered youth could have in store. The tom had a way to put on a poker face laced with a smile while he just bore a hole in the souls he stared at just for fun. The uncomfortable shuffle or attempts to avoid it always gave him a chuckle.
(I already love the sound of it, gimme all of it pls and thx xD)

"Uhhh of yes most definitely. Totally. I uh saw....yes it was a dog over there. Nothing big but definitely something I couldn't handle yet. But you are such a seasoned hunter I thought you can show me what you got." It was 100% a lie but if it got Uta away from him Tarn would be happy.

A brow raised in surprise and interest, one a rarely provoked feeling that made his smile grow more. Was he already so confident to take down a dog? Oh how splendid- oh he didn't think he could handle it but then why bring it up... His expression went neutral as he straighten up and looked to the direction he suggested the dog's presence to be in. He thought about it and he'd had more than a few run-ins with dogs over the many years but sometimes it required a second cat and he didn't partner with anyone whose abilities he didn't trust, they had to be able to hold their own for it work or guarantee a safe retreat in the worst case scenario.
"I guess that would depend, I'd have to see the situation and circumstances." he answered changing course to head to this 'dog'.

Tarn sighed and watched as the older cat headed in the "dogs" direction. He almost for a whole moments felt peace before he actually heard a bark somewhere. Unbelievably he actually pointed his father towards an actual dog that he had no clue just how big it was. The tom so desperately wanted to not care but on the other hand he knew he would feel bad if he actually got Uta killed for something he actually hadn't thought existed there. For his mom's sake of course. So grudgingly he headed towards the same direction as well wanting to kick himself in the butt.

Safety was a priority, and so the tom picked a nearby tree that seemed close enough to the barking, then sprint bursted towards it, and lunge himself up it. He slinked along the branch to get a ideal view of the enemy and what they were up against without alerting their enemy. He hadn't so much as glance back at his son or aware of how much he was blindly trusting his rather disaffected spawn. Perhaps it was just fun to have the luxury to feel that way.
"Ah, is it that dog?" he finally caught sight of a canine in premise wondering if it was the right target or not. (have a dog in mind or should i get a random generator? cause i dont lol )

(I was thinking along the lines of a smaller dog, but you know what. I'd love to see what doggo you'd come up with for poor Uta to deal with XD)

Somewhere off in the distance, two dogs barked at each others through a hole in a bush as if that one factor was all that was 'holding htem back' and keeping the two from dishing it out.
"They do know they can go around it right?" the marbled tabby questioned if either of these two dumb dogs really was a concern at all. Then again, to his knowledge many dogs were in fact this level of not-going-around-a-simple-obstacle kind of dumb. "Is it the larger one, or the yappy one? I swear the smaller they are the bigger they think they are - and I don't understand why".
