Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(He's saying hi to Zakiyyah, but any characters welcome to step in and say hi and join in on the fun too!)
"Hey Zakiyyah!"
Rottenfang raced after her from behind before coming to a stop, "Kotori said we can play together today," He explained, pausing, smiling shyly, followed by an uneasy stare before finally admitting, "Okay no one said anything, I just want to..." He looked a bit shyly off to another direction before meeting her gaze again, "Play... And be with someone who likes me. Kotori did tell me we were family though, but... He also said you probably wouldn't like me, but I wanted to ask you anyways?" He said hopefully.
For as hungry as the Regime was Rottenfang looked a lot healthier than he ever had been living in WinterClan. Despite the small portion sizes of meals he always brought with him an optimistic gratefulness for the small amount he was given. He almost acted like they had given him an entire chicken to eat rather than the small bits they had to all evenly distribute. Plus ever since he joined he seemed to be a ray of sunshine. Most new members would fuss about the long hours, but to him he had never worked less in his entire life, often appearing more relax and at peace. He fit in better than some regime cats who were born and raised there.
Zakiyyah wasn't the sort to look like she belonged in bootcamp. She was tall and slim, prettier than she looked dangerous, though there was a sort of glint to her eye that seemed to stare too deeply into those she looked at, as if she knew everything about them and more. It was no different when she paused to turn her head and take in the sight of her cousin, a slow smile spreading across her lips as her china doll eyes bore into him. "We're cousins, I'm Sean and Shule's daughter, Zakiyyah, if you didn't already know. Not sure why you'd want to play with someone like me, but so long as Symphorosa isn't working me to the bone, I suppose I can spare a moment."
"Oh wow, cousins!" Rottenfang exclaimed, his amber eyes widening in amazement. It wasn't that long ago where he felt it was just him and his siblings against the world. Now in the Regime everywhere he looked he had family and they all wanted to survive together.
"Well... I just feel a little scared to trust people and I thought maybe you and I could maybe be friends," Rottenfang said a bit nervously, unable to look her in the eyes, "I don't know, I'm a little afraid that people won't like me and so if I had one friend, but they would see that I'm not so bad. My first impression to the Regime was being humiliated at a gathering in front of everyone. And then my first impression as a member of the Regime was killing my dad so I'm not really off to a good start," He admitted.
"Kotori grew up in the Regime and last time he was in this group he'd killed some of his half-siblings and other members. As far as things go, you're far too many kills behind to be too much of a concern." Zakiyyah answered. "As far as beginnings go, what's the point of starting out boring? For better or worse, you've made an impression, and it's up to you to shape their view into what you'd like to be seen as. I'm not so sure I'm the best to take as a friend if your goal is to be liked, given that I'm currently in bootcamp due to causing a bit of trouble for myself."
Rottenfang's eyes lit up with heart felt excitement, "I feel the same way!" He chirped happily, "I feel like I'm going to be seen in this certain way, but it's not selfish to try and make sure the Regime see's me in the best light possible. And I mean- after what you did, the least I could do to pay you back is be a good friend to you. I really owe you one," He said with a smile giving her a friendly bump along the lower end of her shoulder.
"After all, you didn't kill Valentine."
His smile was more like a mask, while a genuine grin that didn't stick to his face right, like he was mimicking someone else's facial expressions, but held no capable expressions of his own. "I thought, what was one more cat suspected of dying at Kotori's claws, but you're just like my sister, you wouldn't let him be punished for something he didn't do," He said, admiration glowing in his eyes for her. "And now I'm the only other one who knows your secret," He said in a sing song voice, "That you're the best sister in the Regime!" He smiled brightly.
Nudging her with his paw he continued, "So c'mon, let's play, I'll get you out of doing hard work when I can."
Zakiyyah seemed to freeze on the spot as she watched him, trying to dechiper whether he simply witnessed what had happened, or whether he was the one who tried to pin it on Kotori, or perhaps even killed Valentine. His comment about owing her one implied that he'd been in some way responsible, and she returned his unnatural smile with one that was far softer, smooth and gentle like a whisper as she leaned down to look him in the eyes with her piercing blue gaze. "I will protect Kotori at any cost. A threat to him is a threat I will deal with, and I'm not someone anyone wants to be the enemy of." She answered, her own answer vague enough to simply agree with his assessment of being a great sister, if Rottenfang wanted to interpret it so.
The exceptionally tall feline rose back to her normal height, expression never changing even as her gaze drew to look onward rather than at him. "What games did you have in mind?"
