Mercenary Elsie yawned as she stood from her nest and stretched each of her legs in turn. She had stayed out late working on a new fighting move as she had discovered making her own moves in her spare time was a fun and rewarding task.
"You look tired today." Mercenary Reisi had come up beside her. "Didn't you sleep well last night?" Honestly, his sleep had been interrupted more than once by thoughts and dreams that just wouldn't go away. He didn't say as much to Elsie though.

Elsie glanced at her half-brother, connected by their deceased father, and shrugged. "Sort of. I was out late working on some stuff and didn't realize the time." She admitted. It happened sometimes, especially as they lived in the tunnels and she couldn't always see the sun or moon. "Besides, you don't look so well rested yourself. Everything okay?"
For a moment Reisi actually debated speaking to her about his dilemma, but quickly decided against it. "I've just been busy as of late so I haven't gotten much sleep." It was only a partial lie in the end, but it would do. Deciding to change the subject, he sat down and curled his tail around his paws. "At least it seems like we are finally getting the situation with the bats under control. I don't think I've ever seen so many bats in my life." He was of course referring to the most recent bat infestation that had caused problems in their tunnels, but he was seeing less and less of them here lately so hopefully this would be the end of that problem at least.

She nodded. "I will admit it was hard to sleep with the sound of them in my ears. Sometimes, it's like that is all I can hear even now." She let out a purr of amusement and sat down as well with her large grey paws neatly tucked under her and she lowered her head to give her chest a few licks. She was not a fan of bats especially after all of this and it gave her the chills to think about those large, ugly creatures.
"I just hope we never have to deal with something like that again. They had lost cats to those cursed bats. Some of the ones that had bitten cats had made them sick and in the end it had killed them, but hopefully they were gone for good. "I was honestly starting to get worried when the bats started sticking close to Post Kilo. I don't know what we would have done if one of the tykes had gotten bit by one of those things."

"I agree," truthfully she had been scared of contracting sickness from the bats herself as she was no use dead and a piece of her felt as if their deaths had almost been in vain. What would the regime do if they lost their tykes and raisers to such diseases? They were an important part of the Regime. "It's fortunate they never made it that far or we would have had a much higher death count."

Scout Superior Limavady walked into Post Alpha, a shroud of displeasure hovering over his face. His steps were brisk - he had always been swift-footed. He stopped to look around; green eyes fixated on Elsie, and then on Reisi.

Ellie's gaze met that of Scout Superior Limavady and she dipped her head as a show of respect, "Scout Superior." It was a respectful greeting for the grumpy looking cat even though he was not technically her commanding superior. She was a bit surprised to see him around but took it with a grain of salt, there was no reason he wouldn't be around.

Promptly, he walked up to them. "Scout Siren has been bitten by a bat. We may need a few Mercenaries to help escort a patrol for Burdock Root... The Guiders think she's infected."
Riesi frowned. "Infected? Images of Raya were going through his mind. At Elsie's question, he glanced over. "Sometimes they run out in the garden or there just isn't enough of something that the moment. When that happens the guiders have to go out to the territory to get more." At least that was what Almast had told him during one of their many conversations. "Do we have a patrol of guiders assembled already?"

Just then, Guider Valerian appeared from a nearby tunnel and spotted Scout Superior Limavady with his kin. "Are these two coming to help fetch burdock?" He asked softly, greeting his brother with a flick of his ears.
"I believe so. Superior Limavady was just mentioning that we needed more." Riesi looked over to Limavady, waiting for him to confirm or deny whether they were to go with Guider Valerian.
