Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
He chuckled, "well I suppose but it was much more work for less. I would like to see if yours will work! So long as we dont collide." He twitched his whiskers in amusement at the though of two cats colliding in midair trying to hunt he same prey.

The same image came to Stonefang causing him to smile. "If we do that, we'll have to place each other on the fresh kill pile. Wouldn't that be a sight! Hey look what I caught!" He laughed and then continued, "I don't know about you but I think I wouldn't make a good meal. Too tough and stingy, not much meat." He was a bit thin due to the Leafbare rations he had been eating.

Brakenhawk laughed, "me too!" He looked at his own thin frame although he had muscle to make up for some of that loss of meat. "Anyway, what side do you want to take?"

Stonefang looked at the tree. Several birds were still looking for food under it. "It doesn't make a difference to me. I guess I'll come in from the left," he said.
"Alright. Lets do this" he crouched and rounded the birds again, just as he had done before. He positioned himself on the right and waited for his clanmate to get into position.
At the same time as Stonefang, he leaped at the birds. In a flurry of feathers he managed to hook a wing and he drew the bird to the ground and bit down on the neck, killing it instantly. He sent a silent prayer to Starclan before picking it up and padding over to Stonefang to see if he was lucky in catching one.

After raising his tail to Brackenhawk, Stonefang leaped upon a gray mourning dove. It managed to coo out an alarm before he killed it but no matter. The cats' attack had frightened the rest of the birds away anyway. He looked up from his kill to see his clanmate approaching him with a bird in his mouth. "Good catch," he meowed. "StarClan must be guiding our steps."

"I'd like to catch one more so I can take two back to camp too," Stonefang replied. He looked around toward some more bird sounds and spotted another tree farther away. "I'll try over there," he meowed and headed off in that direction.

He left his catch with Brackenhawk and moved stealthily toward the tree with birds. After awhile he came back carrying a blue jay in his mouth. A small trickle of blood ran down his left cheek just below his eye.

An embarrassed look came over Stonefang's face. "Nothing much really," he began trying to down play the incident. "I wasn't fast enough when killing it," he explained. "When I went in for the killing bite, the jay pecked me." He didn't say that if he wasn't fast enough, he may have lost an eye. He thanked StarClan that didn't happen!
Brackenhawk examined the wound, "its not deep but you should get something put on it to keep it from getting infected. Your lucky that it didnt get your eye." Brackenhawk didnt make the moment awkward or embarrassing. He had understanding in his gaze and a soothing tone.

A wry smile formed on Stonefang's face. "I guess I am," he replied. He licked his right front paw then drew it over the cut a few times. "I think it stopped bleeding but I'll have it checked when I get back to camp." He stooped down to pick up the bird. "I'll pick up my first bird on the way back."

"Just imagine what our clanmates will think of us when we get back to camp with this nice catch," Stonefang meowed. He especially thought about the she cats reactions. He walked back to where he first bird was buried and dug it up then carried both birds by their legs. The wings dragged on the ground as he walked but they didn't impede his progress.
Brackenhawk chuckled and as he unburied his prey he responded, "oh yes! We caught four birds today! Thats pretty impressive if you ask me." He didnt have a special she-cat in his life and wasnt sure if he would ever have one. As far as he knew, none of them seemed interested in him.

"I'll say!" he replied around the legs. His mind wandered back to the camp and his mate who will soon be having her kits. Maybe the feathers from these birds would help make a nice soft nest for his family, he thought as he walked back home.
