Darksonata leaped up onto one of the ribcages of some animal that died long ago. He had one ear tilted towards his sister, listening to her words as she spoke about her troubles and expressing his own. It was a routine the two of them had developed long ago, their quiet retreat where they could simply talk without being bothered. However, instead of racing down it's spine the young warrior froze in place. Something had caught his eye "Soaringlight... trouble" he leapt onwards, his feet pushing off the soft sand until hey came upon a gory sight.
[Gore warning - don't read this paragraph if gore bothers you. I will be describing the corpse. You can skip it and move onto the next] Before them was the corpse of a young cat, though it was difficult to tell who it was at first. It's head was smashed in, laying in a pool of blood. This cat hadn't just been killed, it was mutilated. But it wasn't the work of some animal, the deep lacerations were to intentional for that. It was savage and brutal, yet delicate. The black tom extended his paw, gently lifting up the face of the cat out of the blood. Even with the silver fur stained red, the facial features were enough for the corpse to be identified. He slowly placed the head back down before turning to his sister
"Honestpaw" he mewed softly. He hadn't been attached to the young cat, but seeing any cat in such a state was disturbing Jadie
"What in Blind Protector's name..." Soaringlight murmured, padding up to Darksonata's side, her blue eyes transfixed on the mutilated corpse of the apprentice. She hadn't known him very well. He'd been the quiet type, kept to himself mostly, certainly not a risk taker. She would have never expected him to venture so far away from SunClan's camp without at least one other cat yet here he was, all alone and left to rot in the boneyard. She took a step back and tasted the air for any strange scents then turned her gaze back to Darksonata, "Whoever did this may still be around. We need to report this back to camp and come back with a proper patrol."

Darksonata dipped his head in agreement, even though he couldn't scent anything strange. Only SunClan and blood.... Had a SunClan cat done this? He took in the scene around them carefully, knowing that once more cats came the scene would be disturbed. It was often times the smallest of details that could make the difference in finding out who had done this "Go" he paused, hesitating to leave the corpse alone "I'll hide nearby and keep watch" his black tail flicked from one side to the other, his gaze tearing away only to look at his sister. It was true that whomever had done this could still be around, but it was in fact what he was hoping for. To catch a glimpse of the perpetrator from his perch "I won't engage should they return, only watch" It wouldn't take her long to get back to camp and come back with a patrol, so even if he ran into trouble he would just have to hold out until they came back. He pressed his head against hers "I'll be fine"
Soarlinglight trusted Darksonata more than any other cat in SunClan. She also had no doubts at his capabilities to lie low or, if found, deal with the intruder swiftly. His element made sure of that. Still, something in the pit of her stomach told her not to leave him. Whatever had killed Honestpaw had done so when the apprentice as all alone, after all, and seemed more than strong enough to do it again.
"No, I won't leave you behind," She decided, brushing her face against his affectionately, "We will go back to camp together. Nothing worse can happen to Honestpaw than what already has... He... He will be fine left alone for a little while longer."
Nightfury caught the smell of death drifting in the wind. It called to him, not in a sick way, but a death always intrigued the tom. Who was dead? Why did they die? Where did they meet their end? All important questions. He brushed past the Darksonata and Soaringlight wordlessly, and then stopped upon seeing the mutilated apprentice. Whoever did it certainly was passionate... killing someone like this took energy and time. He couldn't imagine the horrors that Honestpaw faced... well, that wasn't entire true. He certainly could imagine it. He had his time in the business too. He lifted the tom's head for a moment and let it fall back to the ground with a thud. He shrugged and looked to them for what they were planning.
Soaringlight bristled at Nightfury's approach, his callousness towards not only herself and her brother but also Honestpaw rubbing her the wrong way. Nightfury was a tom she did her best to stay well and away from. Something about him left a bad taste in her mouth that she couldn't ever pin down, although she suspected she was close to figuring it out as she watched the tom lift up Honestpaw's head and dropped it unceremoniously back onto the gray earth.
"Did you really need to do that?" She growled, lashing her tail.

At the sound of approaching footsteps, Darksonata's piercing gaze fell upon Nightfury before his sister had even finished speaking to him. He stiffened, falling silent as the tom approached the mutilated body and let the tom's face slam back to the ground. Blood shot upwards at the impact, landing upon his paws as he moved himself in front of Soaringlight to save her from the splatter. He gave the warrior a hard glare, but allowed Soaringlight to do the talking. Much like Nightfury, when around anyone but his sister he was a cat of few words. Most cats believed him to be mute, few having ever heard him speak and even fewer more than a word or two at a time.
He shrugged at Soaringlight's obvious displeasure as he picked it up again, and then dropped it. "No." Darksonata's glare made him chuckled. He didn't care what they thought of him. He spent too much of his life trying to please people in Absum Lux and Toxicity. He had no time left to waste. He looked back down at the poor apprentice's mangled body. Part of him wanted to stick around and meet the fellow who did this... but duty called. He tore his gaze from the body and paced back over to where two sat. "Plan?"

He may have been laughing now, but soon enough he would come to regret his rude actions. Nightfury wouldn't understand what was happening at first, but every time he dropped the apprentices head there was a pressure being applied to his chest to make him uncomfrotable. Each time becoming more and more intense until it would become almost unbearably painful, mimicking the effects of a heart attack. It was far more than enough to cause most cats to scream out for mercy, as the young warrior took a step closer his eyes never wavering from their target as he mocked his sister's words. With that, he stopped holding back. Allowing the pain to spread across Nightfury's body, like opening a flood gate. No one insulted Soaringlight while he was around stardance
"You...!" Soaringlight growled, tail sticking straight up in the air as she went to take a step toward Nightfury only for Dakrsonata to put himself between the two of them. Watching how callously Nightfury interacted with Honetpaw's body gave her a new idea, one she hesitated to voice, but he had pissed her off and it's not life her suspicions would condemn him, "You didn't have anything to do with this, do you? Darksonata and I come here all the time, but I've never seen you here until now, and you have to admit that your actions just now are highly suspicious."
It didn't feel like much at first. Maybe a little stomach cramp or something like that, completely normal. But the pain inside of him just kept growing and growing. He let out a viscous growl and swung his head from side to side. Was he dying? No. He couldn't feel any blood running down his coat, nor where his other senses fading. It just felt like he was being held over a fire with claws and talons slicing him open for good measure. His eyes locked with Soaringlight's as his own weight collapsed collapsed his quivering legs.
Bleedingheart was finely well enough after her dip in the boiling river to leave camp. So it was with a light heart she came across Honestpaw’s body and the three other warriors. She withheld a cry as she looked over the ravaged corpse but frowned as Nightfury treated the body carelessly. “You really shouldn’t do that.” She warned him, unaware of what Darksonata’s actions. Skirting around Noghtfury she went to inspect the body.
There didn’t seem to be any noticeable clumps of fur in his claws that could tell them who killed the apprentice. Actually he did smell of any clan or group that she recognized other than the obvious SunClan scent. This wasn’t good and made her fur stand on end. What she really wanted to do was flee back to camp and hide her kits. Something was not right.
If Soaringlight hadn't been aware of what he was doing, she would now as Nightfury collapsed to the ground. He held it for a few moments, before releasing his hold on the older cat. His aim wasn't to harm, only to teach. His actions were disrespectful to the dead, but more importantly to his sister. Unacceptable. Even as the pain released he stood between her and Nightfury, Darksonata's tail touching her shoulder lightly. At least they had another cat here now that wasn't trying to disturb the deceased. Jadiestardance
Soarlinglight's eyes widened slightly as she saw Nightfury tense up as if in pain. It took her longer than it should have to realize the source of his distress but, by then, the tom had already fallen to the ground and eye contact had been broken. She nudged Darksonata hard in the ribs, a scowl on her face just like the one she'd given Nightfury moments ago. She didn't need to say anything: Clearly she was upset with her brother's course of action.
"Oh my gosh!' She feigned surprise as Nightfury fell over and rushed over to his side, albeit a little delayed, "Something's wrong with Nightfury... Darksonata, you need to go get Littlestar and a patrol. Bleedingheart and I will manage this situation until you get back."

Darksonata's ears fell back, blinking in surprise as his sister scowled at him. His tail lashed wanting to protest, but with the other cats around he kept silent as Soaringlight went to comfort Nightfury. He stayed close, even as she turned on him to go and get Littlestar. He looked between them and the direction of camp. Giving a little warning growl to Nightfury, before taking off back to camp. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It wasn't long before a patrol arrived back at the Boneyard. Littlestar was in the lead, with several warriors tagging along including Darksonata. He had went and got the patrol, but none of them knew what they were walking into. Darksonata wasn't much of a talker, the only words being said were 'help' and 'dead'. It was vague,she could smell the iron tang of blood in the air but none of the cats here seemed hurt... She walked forward, heart sinking as she laid eyes upon the deceased apprentice. A growl rumbled in her throat, leaning down to inspect the mangle corpse. So this is how it would begin...
She recognized the spiraling pattern of the lacerations, similar and yet different to her own. The cuts were precise, but deep. But it was the wound on his head that caught her attention, not matching the rest of the pattern. It was deep, done by something heavy being dropped down from a great height. Something had picked at the flesh there, and torn away bits and pieces. She could only assume it was some sort of scavenger... probably a bloody crow.
There were no strange scents, no foot prints, nothing else seemed out of place. This mutilation hadn't been done here, it had been placed here for them to have. A warning...
"I will carry him to the sunflower fields for a proper burial" she managed to choke out, trying to hold back her own emotions... "Lionpride and his siblings need to be told... Have them meet us there to say their goodbyes" as she bent to grab the scruff of her grandson, he stomach twisted in knots... It wouldn't stop at just this, not until everything she cared for ended in the same way. stardanceNovaJadie @samiam
Earthquake had been at the far back of the patrol, having purposefully assigned himself to this patrol mainly to be close to Littlestar, he would never admit it aloud but the warrior was afraid that if she were out of his sight for too long she'd disappear again. It was only when he heard "Lionpride and his siblings need to be told" did the large tom push his way to the from of the patrol to see what was actually going on.
"Need to be told wh-" the words died in his throat as he saw his little brother's mutilated body being lifted partially off the ground as Littlestar held him in her jaws. Earthquake visibly swallowed the latter part of his unfinished sentence and fell silent for several heart beats before finally moving forward, and crouching down and crawling under the front half of Honestpaw's body, allowing Littlestar to lay the fallen apprentice on the warrior's back.
Soaringlight nodded her head to Littlestar in a show of loyalty that even surprised herself. She was very forthright with her dislike of SunClan and how it was run, but she didn't hate the High Priestess. Everything she did came from a good place, as best she could manage given what she had gone through in the past dozen or so moons, Soaringlight could recognize that "Darksonata and I will gather them. We will see you there."

"Oh Honestpaw..."
Valleyrose padded forward and put a sunflower over Honestpaw's bashed in head, doing her best to hide the mayhem from any eyes that would be soon to see it. She encouraged its roots to wrap around his head to stay in place regardless of how much the corpse would be jostled on the rather long journey to the Sunflower Fields.

Littlestar slowly lowered the apprentices body onto earthquake's shoulders, even though she would have rather have carried him to the burial grounds herself she had to admit that it would have been difficult for her to carry him the long distance. She stayed by Earthquakes side, steadying the corpse so that it wouldn't fall as the much larger tom walked. She felt her teeth dig into her cheek as she held back her words. She had only just returned, another member of her family ripped away before she could even get to know them. Another life extinguished before it had really begun.
She dipped her head to Valleyrose, grateful for the small act of kindness as the sunflower grew to cover the gruesome wound.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~At Burial Grounds**~~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ By the time the cats arrived at the burial grounds, and anxious Lionpride was already there pacing. He claws leaving deep scores in the earth, racing to Earthquake and burrying his nose into the apprentice's fur. He didn't speak, he didn't need to. The utter despair apparent with every tear that made it's way down his cheek
Perfectstorm was the picture of calm, cool and collected, but he was staring daggers at Littlestar. He would not forgive her for letting one so innocent die so horribly under her watch. While this was clearly out of the High Priestess's control for any outsider looking in, the young Warrior had been raised from a young age to blame anything bad that happened in SunClan on Littlestar, and it was clear that was exactly what he intended to do.
Valleyrose stepped away from the family and bowed her head. She wasn't sure what to do next, but she did know her element would be needed soon enough and was already preparing the seeds in the palm of her paw.
(stardanceNova feel free to bring his siblings in here) Lastingpaw slowly made his way over to their father, pressed up against his side. He had never been to a burial before, and the sight of his brother's broken body as it was covered with dirt made him tremble. He wanted to scream and jump in with him, even though he knew that his brother was gone. His spirit would be on the isle now watching over them. First their mom went missing and now this... Were they going to find Pollendrone like this to?
