Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Fallclan had recently experienced a tragedy, the loss of two parents to a new litter of kits. It had been awhile since the nursery aids had the sole responsibility of caring for young ones without a mother in a whole litter like this.
Lavenderbreeze helped where she could, keeping the kits fed and warm. She couldn't necessarily provide traditional motherhood, but she knew she would protect this kittens just as though she'd gave birth to them herself. The soft grey she-cat had just stirred out of sleep to the light of morning, a cool breeze entering the den. She was grateful for newleaf. Caring for kits would've proven more difficult in leaf-bare.
Shifting onto her feet, the she-cat walks out to the clearing to find what prey had been left for the nursery. She knew being so young, the kits were ravenous but couldn't eat too much in one sitting. She chose a decent sized mouse to take to the den to start shredding for the kits she was assigned to care for today. Since they weren't awake yet, Lavenderbreeze stayed quiet as she worked on making bite sized pieces of the mouse.
Slowly, Tinykit started to wake. She shifted slightly, not fully ready to let go of her dreams, and stretched out her arms. She had almost fallen back asleep when a swift kick to her face from one of her siblings jolted her out of drowsiness. With a slight frown, the small kit glanced around the nursery, her face sore, attempted to figure out what time of day it was. Had she slept longer than she had meant to? Or not long enough?
As quietly and softly as she could, she untangled herself from the mess of her siblings, intending to go check the sky for herself, but paused when she noticed Lavenderbreeze in the den. "Mornin'," she whispered, breaking off at the end of the word to slip into a large yawn. With a quick glance back at her siblings to make sure she hadn't disturbed them, Tinykit moved to the nursery aid's side, offering a small, sleepy smile.
"Morning." Lavenderbreeze purrs, watching the young kitten awake from slumber. She sits up and curls her tail around her paws, stifling a yawn. Whenever she was helping care, Lavenderbreeze didn't sleep as much as she knew she should. She was such a doting cat, waking up several times in the night to check that all kittens were safe and accounted for.
The grey she-cat touches her nose to the child's head. "Are you hungry Tinykit? I have freshkill ready for you if you are." She gestures to the shredded mouse, smiling. She didn't know the kits too well yet, but she wanted to change that. Maybe she'd take them around camp to explore.
