He could go on ignoring the shadow hanging over him, but no matter where Pikepaw wandered, it was sure to follow. He knew that there was no more danger to fear, at least where his father was concerned, but he still found it difficult to tread the territory on his own without checking behind him every few steps or to not look up hopefully when he artfully accomplished a more advanced training move, expecting Goldenshadow to be lurking somewhere near. He isn't, he reminded himself, taking in a deep breath to stabilize himself when, behind him, a twig snapped.
