Cleaver anyone can reply but Maria won't be convinced to join until Crownglass comes She was always a wanderer, even in her youth. It was practically destiny that she left Summerclan when she got old enough to walk. The past years have aged her, but Maria still had that warm yet mischievous glow in her eyes like she always did. She didn't stare at the world with kit like wonder anymore. The grasses and trees looked identical everywhere she went, it was the people who weren't. She had toed around the Fallclan border before, but now watched it like a hawk. It had been years since she'd seen any of her family, but she could have sworn she picked up the faintest smell of one clinging to the border. She expected it in Summerclan, not Fallclan, and yet here she was. The orange and white she-cat blending into the melted snow scenery, waiting to see who would rustle the bushes first.

A rustle of leaves sounded a second before a pale, sand-colored paw stepped out of the bush and into the clearing that marked their border. The fresh scent of clanmates clinging to his glossy pelt became more than evident as Ashaffinity stalked into the open. He was not alone, but he was the first to reveal himself to the curious pair of eyes hiding in the grass—eyes the tom had yet to notice. Lifting his nose into the air, he felt a tingle of realization travel up his spine. Someone was nearby. He was sure of it. “Anyone there!?” He hollered before he whipped his head back around to his still concealed companion/s. “I think someone’s close by. Come on!”
"I think it's a rogue," the dark-furred tom ventured hesitantly. Emerging from the brush after Ashaffinity, the tom had a strange expression on his face, his head cocked to the side as he inhaled deeply. There was something familiar about this intruder's scent, deep down: underneath the layers of grime and diet, he could have sworn he recognized something homely. A former EarthClan cat, maybe, or SummerClan? It was hard to tell.
Crownglass shook his head to chase the thought away. "You should know we don't like trespassers here," he called out, adding his voice to Ashaffinity's. "If you show yourself now, we won't hurt you."

Maria's lip quirked up at the threat. She was a stranger to fear, even in the mouth of a lion's den like this. Watching each step she made, Maria slunk through the underbrush, making sure she didn't make a sound as she lined herself up with Crownglass' flank. The other tom's voice was like a birds on the wind, completely irrelevant to her cause. Pulling her haunches up, she sprang from her hiding place. Landing right next to her brother, she batted him across the ears. "Like you even could Crownclown." The she-cat said with a laugh. CleaverFlurryofstars
Bright fur flashed in the corner of his gaze and Crownglass wheeled around, falling naturally into a defensive crouch. He was just a bit too slow, his attacker's paw swiping across his ears, and he hissed at himself. His reflexes were too slow these days, age or comfort, he couldn't tell.
The familiar scent was fresh in his mind and stayed his paw from an attack while he contemplated her words, but he still had to look her up and down twice. It had been so impossibly long since he'd seen her, she was older now, or she should be; he honestly thought she had died moons ago like all of the others. But even now she was unmistakable.
"Maria?" Crownglass straightened up and sniffed her cautiously, his golden eyes wide. "Is it really you? You're alive? You're here?"

Ashaffinity jumped as the she-cat pounced beside Crownglass, his fur instantly bristled in preparation for a fight. How dare she cross into their territory! With his claws unsheathed, he darted around his clanmate to get a better view of the trespasser, an insult at the tip of his tongue, but he skidded to a halt not a second later. She seemed far too relaxed given the situation and as he looked between the two, he realized Crownglass did too. They were practically in each other's faces, sniffing one another without the slightest indication of aggression. Groaning loudly, he rolled his shoulders back and glared at the pair. And here he thought the day was shaping into something special with a border skirmish, but apparently not.
"Wait, you know her?" he asked Crownglass in an accusatory tone. Feeling curious himself, he inhaled the she-cat's scent as well and wrinkled his nose at the familiarity of it. They were almost identical. "Don't tell me she used to be your mate or something. You know that's forbidden."

For all the traveling the pair had done, she could still pick up hints of Summerclan on him. But maybe it was just because Summerclan was so close to Fallclan. She leaned back slightly, a pout on her face as she lightly tapped him on the nose. "Wha- I can't believe you have such little faith in me. But that surprised face of yours is as cute as ever." Maria blinked slowly, leaning forward again to rub her cheek against his'. It was the first time she felt the touch of her family for so long, it almost made her a bit homesick.
When she pulled away, she tilted her head at Ashaffinity's accusatory tone. "Is it something to you, pretty boy? Last I head, this brother of mine got shackled to a she-cat from ...Earthclan, right? I never bothered keeping up with clan affairs once I left." Maria purred, cool as a cucumber.
Crownglass looked up with panicked eyes as Ashaffinity spoke. Instinctively he leaped between the tom and his sister, his ears back and wary. His heart was stumbling, racing from step to step, and yet with every pause he feared his heart wouldn't beat again. Was he really getting in the way of his clanmate? Ashaffinity wouldn't actually attack him, right? Could he really stop him if he did? How could he not protect his sister?
And then Crownglass had two realizations: first, his sister was not at all concerned, and second, she would probably kill him right then and there for trying to protect her. He ducked immediately and sprang back, his fur bristling at the thought she was on the verge of attack.
"She's certainly not my mate," he interjected with a shudder, "she's my sister." He looked back at her and smiled a little, feeling fond at the mention of his mate. "EarthClan is right. Seablossom and I left after a flood destroyed the clan and ended up here," he explained.

Crownglass was too focused on Ashaffinity to notice the smile on Maria's face as he jumped forward to protect her. Even years later, some things never change. And one of those was an older brother's desire to protect his little sister. Still, if this cat chose to attack even after this, Fallclan had more important things to worry about than one cute rogue.
"Interesting." The rumbles in her chest continued as she took a step forward to line up with Crownglass. "I guess Mom would be glad you didn't end up a heartbreaker like Dad." She lightly pinched his cheek, though it was more of a faint rub than a pinch. "That's my job after all. So why here. Did you just really not want to go back to Summerclan?"

Brother. Sister. “Siblings, huh?” He mused and looked between them once more. He supposed there was a resemblance and it did seem to explain their behavior better than if they were old mates or whatever. It didn’t make him feel any better though. Even if they were related, she was still an outsider. Speaking with her here of all places was sure to be problematic, especially when they ought to be chasing her out. All Ashaffinity wanted to do was knock Crownglass aside to perform his duty to the clan and its borders, but he was torn between that and respecting the wishes of his clanmate. If they were just catching up for a little bit, it wasn’t like they’d die from it...
He shot them both a pointed glare that he hoped reveal exactly how he felt about all of this. Then he turned away from the pair and started pacing around the clearing, his fur bristled and his tail lashing out behind him. He kept his mental breakdown quiet though, so he wouldn’t disturb their conversation. He’d let them have a few minutes at least before doing anything else. Or as long his restraint would last.

"For a guy with such a cute face, he's pretty grumpy huh?" Maria whispered into Crownglass' ear before snickering to herself. Sure, the glare did reveal how he felt. But Maria really didn't care. How many times had she gotten the same pointed glare? It used to make the fur on her hackles raise, but now it felt like nothing. "Ooh. Can you introduce me to Seablossom? I gotta meet her and the kids." Maria assumed they had kids. It'd be against their bloodright to not.
