Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was Poppymask's favorite time of year, spring, when all the flowers began to bloom and the sweet scent of life replaced the frigid bite of arctic winds. Poppymask's had wasted no time plucking some of the season's first flowers, pansies and violas for the most part, weather together with her favorite ivy vines and round white rocks that she'd found on a string by twolegplace.
"FIRST OF THE SEASON AND THE BEST SUMMERCLAN HAS TO OFFER BECAUSE I PERSONALLY MADE THEM!" She continued to advertise, although of course the one on her head were infinitely better than the ones she was selling, "All I ask for payment is a kiss on the cheek ~ ♥️"
"Flower crowns, huh?" Ragingspire studied the arrangement on her head. He had seen these crowns before, but they had been something special, so he had never tried to take one for himself. They weren't half-bad looking, she certainly looked pretty, so why not?
"Sure, why not, I'll take one." He sat down in front of her, bronze head cocked in her direction so she could settle the crown onto his head, curious to see which he would get. "Do we get to choose which one we get? So many different colors," he mused, briefly glancing around for Dawnmemories. She would know what color he would look best with. neverstarstar
"Oh no, I pick the one for you, after all I have an eye for color and design," Poppymask tittered while she dug through her pile of crowns for just the perfect one for Ragingspire's reddish-brown fur. Eventually she settled on a pink-and-purple crown with far less pearls that he own, but it was simple and about as masculine as a flower crown could be. She smoothed our a few of the rough edges and placed it carefully atop her subject's head, "Payment please!"
"Well well, I see you've gotta long line o' customers already. Should I be jealous, darlin'?" Ratstar padded back into camp from a hunting patrol, setting a fat ol' robin down at Poppymask's paws before taking a look at his mate's wares. There was absolutely no denying the quality and design of the headpieces. Her inherent crafting skill still amazed him as much as it did the first time he met her. She even tried teaching him a couple of times, but he never picked it up the way she did. "Ya know...since I brought ya lunch an' all, I'd better get a extra-special crown, don 'cha think?" In hindsight...these were the kind of moments where the leader really wished he still had both eyes, so he could actually wink without looking like a moron. He settled for a playful smirk instead.
Weevilpaw watched his parents from the entrance of the apprentices' den, his paws kneading into the grass for a few moments before glancing over his shoulder and into the den. "What's the hold up in there, Pikepaw? There's already a line, ya know." The grey apprentice paused in thought for a moment, lifting his back leg to scratch absentmindedly at his ear. "Do ya think we should maybe go for matching crowns this time? Or what about complimentary colors?" woof
"Oh! R-Ratstar!" Poppymask quickly drew away from Ragingspire after giving him a wink that she hoped meant 'We'll have to pick this up later.' She the approached her mate and brushed her cheek against his, really putting her whole body into it as she so often did. Ratstar of course would anticipate it by now, but most cats would stumble slightly from the sheer force of her favor, "I have a special one made just for you! It matches mine and of course has just the most darling carnation at the center."
She ruffled through her stores and produced a crown similar to hers in almost every way but it had more of a blue tone that countered her purple. What stood out the most, though, was that she'd used the string from the twoleg rock thing she'd found and managed to create a flower eye patch for Ratstar's missing eye. It wasn't the first time she'd done it, but it was certainly the best as she'd managed to make a star-shape out of petals, "What do you think?"
This was going to be SO awkward, but Devotedcrow was putting his best effort into immersing into SummerClan life, which apparently meant kissing Poppymask on the cheek for a flower crown. The dark warrior's bonfire eyes shifted from side to side in a very obviously uncomfortable manner, but he relaxed some as Ratstar stepped forward ahead of him, taking most of Poppymask's attention in doing so.
"Hol' up, Weevilpaw! You can't rush beauty," laughed Pikepaw before the golden apprentice pranced out of the den, his fur extra shiny and manicured today. The last few encounters he'd had with his best bud's momma, his pelt had been all tangled up and rivaled Weevilpaw's unruly mane, so this time he took extra precaution to look his absolute best for the occasion. He clicked his tongue as he considered the other tom's question, then said, "I think we should have matching ones this time. What color do you think would look best on both of us? I think I looked positively dashing in those rich, red roses."
Ratstar stared down at the piece that Poppymask had set in front of him with a wide eye, struck momentarily speechless. "Poppymask...this has gotta be one o' ya best works yet!" He exclaimed, immediately bending down and sliding the bejeweled flower crown onto his head. When he sat back up again, he lifted a paw to delicately touch the flower patch that hung in front of his missing eye for a moment, before surging forward to give his mate a big, loving lick on the cheek. "You're too good t' me, love," he purred, nuzzling her gently before pulling away to turn his attention to the other customers. "Ya lookin' good, Ragingspire! Oi, Devotedcrow, find one ya like yet?" Cleaverwoof
"You realize who you're talkin' to, right?" Weevilpaw quipped, playfully rolling his yellow-green eyes at his friend with a shake of his messy, tangled fur. "You did look nice in the rose, but have you seen some of those light violet crocus that have been blooming by the rabbit meadow? I bet that would make a really nice accent with your pelt. Or maybe some yellow Daffodils? Then you'd probably look like that sun-cat Raystrike's always goin' on about!" woof
"Oh, uh, no I haven't. I was gonna leave it up to Poppymask's keen eye," he laughed, knowing his own taste for colors was much less refined than the garden keeper's. As far as Devotedcrow was concerned, they all looked the same, although the myriad of blue petals did remind him some of the ocean, something he was fond enough of to have named one of his sons after it. "That's a fancy one you have there. The eyepatch really accentuates your other eye," he followed up, nodding sagely.
Pikepaw's eyes widened. He imagined the great, fiery-maned God the SunClan ray revered and spoke of and then himself in his place, with flaming flowers bordering his soft face. "The daffodils would stand out wonderfully against your pelt too-- like the sun after it rains! We should do that," he spoke a little too eagerly, bouncing ahead of his friend towards where the others were gathered. GidgetGalJadie
"It just so happens I have two daffodil crowns, Pikepaw," Poppymask purred. Even though she was still glued to Ratstar's side, she ruffled through her pile but actually pulled out three. Two of them had the requested yellow daffodils but one heavily featured purple asters while the other had peachy pink tulips. The third crown was a little smaller - meant for a kit, probably - with just asters and tulips, no daffodils, "If you'd like to match, take apart this one and put them together just the same as a taught you, Weevilpaw. Just be careful not to make them too heavy and, oh, make sure not the damage the twine, it's hard to find and I reuse it! If you have any questions ask Sunpaw, she's quite good at it, I'm a little... busy."
She tried to twine her tail with Ratstar but of course couldn't because her tail was just a nub, but the instinctual desire to do so preserved.
Pikepaw marveled over the delicate creation as he shoved his face through the center, the pretty daffodils framing his face cutely (though Pikepaw, unable to see himself, thought he looked quite majestic). "Thanks, Poppymask," he purred, reaching up on his toes to leave a big, slobbery, affectionate kiss on her cheek, turning after to see Weevilpaw donning his own crown. "See! Those do look good on you!" JadieGidgetGal
Ratstar chuckled at Devotedcrow's compliment, raising a playful brow. "Accentuates, eh? Didn't know ya were such a connoisseur o' fancy-ants words, Crow." He leaned into Poppymask's embrace for a moment, before rising to his paws again and padding over to the other tom's side, looking over the assortment of crowns with an only slightly more experienced eye. "How 'bout that one made o' snowdrop flowers?" He suggested after a minute. "Black an' white always go good together, and the green stems would make ya eyes pop."
"Like the sun after the rain..." Weevilpaw was momentarily taken aback by the vivid picture Pikepaw presented in his mind, only to realize his friend had already bounced over to Mom, leaving the fluffy apprentice to scamper after him, reaching the pair just in time to hear the tail-end of Poppymask's conversation. "I kinda like having them be a bit different," he admitted, partly because it was true, and partly because he wasn't all too good at constructing flower crowns and didn't want to ask his sister for help. He smiled as Pikepaw put the yellow and pink one on, and he slipped on the yellow and purple before leaning up to give his mother a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, ma. You're the best."
"And you're just the cutest!" Poppymask embraced Pikepaw's slobbery kiss without complaint, but for once had enough sense to turn her other cheek toward Weevilpaw, "Don't forget to give your momma a kiss before you go play with your boyfriend." GidgetGal
