A large, muscular tom moved over the fallen leaves on the ground. Only the slight rustle alerted others of his presence.
Hawthornclaw had noticed that the fresh-kill pile had been running low, and took it upon himself to go out and hunt for the clan. He didn't like to admit it to himself, or anyone else, but he wasn't the most talented hunter. He wasn't the most graceful of cats, and it was hard for him to keep his large figure hidden. Definitely didn't help that he had long, thick fur as well. There were too many times where he had by mistake brushed past some leaves, causing them to crinkle and scare away whatever prey it was he was stalking. He didn't grow up in a Clan, so he was never trained to hunt properly, and he was most likely past the age, and too stubborn, to changed that now. Still, he made do.
He had just caught a squirrel and just finished hiding it under some twigs and branches. He then turned around and opened his jaw ever so slightly to inhale the scents of the forest, but instead of prey, a different familiar smell reached his scent glands. It was another cat from his own clan, heading towards him.

Hauntedmelody loved wandering about. She enjoyed the mystery behind where she’d go and what she’d find. It was always something new every time. Last time she had run into a clan mate, they had thought she was a rather large and frightening ghost bear. It had amused the white she-cat thoroughly. She wondered what this fine spring day would bring her. A friend? Foe? Entertainment? The possibilities were endless. Her golden eyes twinkled mischievously as she seemingly floated along the forest floor, her paw steps light and silent. She paused for a moment, her whiskers twitching as she caught sight of her newest clanmate. He was an interesting specter indeed. The large tom didn’t seem to know what he was doing. A smile began to form on her face as she watched him a moment longer. It seems she found entertainment this day.
Hauntedmelody quickly made her way towards one of the larger oak trees, purposefully kicking about the fallen twigs and leaves so that she could make as much noise as possible before scampering up the trunk. She daintly made her way onto one of the branches, hidden by a thick bushel of flower buds as the trees slowly began to come alive again after winter. She wondered how long this interesting tom would take to find her. Hauntedmelody settled down comfortable on the tree branch, watching from the shadows to see what he would do.

Hawthornclaw's head whipped round to face the direction the noise had some from. What was going on here? What was all that racket? Which definitely had to have scared any prey nearby. He was both angry, and concerned. Did something happen? He once gin opened his mouth nd took in the scents round him. Nothing had changed. The only difference was that the smell of his clanmate was a little more muted now. His brows furrowed and his yellow eyes flashed around, searching through the underbrush for any movement. Nothing. The tom was torn between heading off to find another place to hunt, or trying to find out where this other cat went. He decided in the end to look for them. Besides, what if they were in trouble?
Leaving his squirrel hidden, he began to pad towards where he had heard the rustling and snapping of leaves and twigs.

The white pelted warrior had to suppress a chuckle as she tracked Hawthornclaw looking to and fro. He looked just as confused as before. Her smile only grew as she thought of ways to play with his kind a bit more. Should she drop a small twig to the ground? Drop a few acorns around him? The possibilities only continued to grow as Hauntedmelody watched him. Her whiskers twitching, looking around to see what she could use at her disposal. With careful precision, and delicately placed steps, Haunted melody carefully broke off a small twig. She crept forward on her branch. She had to time this perfectly. Just a few more steps...
When he was close enough, Hauntedmelody dropped the twig, watching it fall near him but not close enough to hit him

The noise startled the tom, and he spun around to face the direction it had come from. The thick, fluffy fur on his neck was prickled ever so slightly, and his eyes narrowed even more. His tail twitched as he examined the area from a distance. When he didn't see anyone or anything out of the ordinary, he headed towards the area.
Hawthornclaw's yellow gaze landed on a small twig, which lay idle on the leaf-covered ground. The large, serious-looking cat let out an annoyed huff. Was he just being paranoid?

It was hard to keep the giggle in her throat at bay. It escaped her throat and danced among the trees like a melody as she arched Hawthornclaw. The bemused she-cat took it one step further. Hauntedmelody stretched a paw out and began to gently shake the twigs of the branch she had perched on. She watched, golden eyes glowing, as the flower petals slowly drifted to the ground. This time, some landed on the tom’s pelt. Maybe this would give him a bit of a hint. The white she-cat began to hum softly, a little rhythm she had thought of in her head.
“Met the love of mine, aye, a lad so fine,” She sang softly as she continued to shake the tree branch. Her voice fell away into another melodic hum before she spoke again. “You and me and the devil make three on the cold and billowing sea...”

With a growl, Hawthornclaw looked up. He squinted his eyes as the flower petals danced down from the sky. So that’s where they were hiding. It took him a second to actually find the shape of the she-cat sitting amounts the branches.
“What are you doing?” He growled, swatting away a petal that had landed on his nose. She noticed the white coat, and could only assume it was Hauntedmelody. He had never really spoken to the she-cat before and had only heard rumours about her being strange. So far she was living up to his expectations.

“Being entertained.” She purred as she looked down towards him. “Or couldn’t you tell? It did take you an awfully long time to notice me. What if I had been a nasty Regime cat? Or a frigid Winterclan warrior?” Hauntedmelody bunched her muscles up as she hopped from branch to branch before she landed gracefully back on the ground. She walked up to him, her tail swaying happily in the air as she looked him over.
“Though, I suppose if I was either of those cats I wouldn’t stand much of a chance.” Hauntedmelody chuckled. “Do you always wear such a serious scowl, or am I just lucky?” She teased before tapping his nose with her paw

The tom’s expression didn’t change. “An enemy warrior wouldn’t be playing hide and seek in the trees” he responded, a growl still to his voice. He ignored the second question she had asked him and turned away with a huff “You do realize you’ve scared away any prey within this vicinity.” He stated matter-of-factky, although it did also come off as accusingly.
He couldn’t believe that his own clanmate would mess around like this, especially since the fresh kill pile was running low! She was being immature and unhelpful.

Hauntedmelody only chuckled a bit more as she started circling him. "You do realize there's more than one place to hunt in Fallclan, right?" She teased as she started trotting away. "Perhaps if you relaxed a bit you would have known that." The white she-cat couldn't help but tease the tom. He was still new, still grappling with clan life, perhaps he just needed help getting used to the territory.
"Perhaps if you took the scowl off your face and asked me nicely, I'd be so inclined to help you." She purred. "Though I'd probably help anyway. But where would be the fun in that?"

He watched her in silence, his eyes still narrowed. He still wasn’t sure what to think of this she-cat.
Finally, his tense form relaxed a little. He let out a sigh “Sure, alright.” He responded, but definitely was not going to ask. That would be humiliating and just into her trap. But, they needed all the prey they could get. Two is better than one.
He looked off in the distance, trying to determine where they should head off to hunt next. “Just don’t scare away any more prey this time.” He grumbled. “We’ll go this way,” he said, basically just picking a random direction. He knew FallClan’s territory decently well, but still didn’t know it as well as the other cats in the clan.

"Oh, don't worry sailor boy." Hauntedmelody purred. "I doubt I'll be the scariest thing they see." She teased. The warrior wasn't sure if Hawthorneclaw had an expression other than an angry scowl. It was amusing to see. Still, Hauntedmelody swept her paw out before them, indicated that it should be the tom that led their impromptu hunting party.
"After you, brave warrior." She purred as she lowered her head. "After all, I have no doubt that you know where it is you're going. I promise to be as silent as a mouse." Hauntedmelody giggled, covering her mouth with her paw to emphasize her statement while her golden eyes glittered mischeviously

The tom wasn't fond of her teasing, but didn't respond. Without a word, he began walking forward. The only sign he was irritated was the soft swish in his furry tail.
It wasn't too long before they had reached an area that had been untouched by Hauntedmelody's mischief. He took a deep breath in, the scents of prey filling his nose. "Here is good." He muttered to her, making sure his voice wasn't too loud. He didn't want to be the one scaring the prey away this time. That would be embarrassing.
He motioned silently for the she-cat to split away from him, before setting his sights on a robin. The bird was pecking at the ground, most likely trying to find any worms that had decided to makes its way above ground because of the warming weather.
Hawthornclaw crouched, his large build looked somewhat awkward, but he made it work. He focused all his senses of the prey and began to stalk forward.

Hauntedmelody watched him carefully. As much as she enjoyed teasing him, she had cause for concern. The tom didn't seem to know much about surviving within a clan. She observed his hunting crouch, having seen cats around his size perfect it and make it comfortable. His awkward stance would do him no good. She had done as he motioned, though, and silently slipped away into the undergrowth. Hauntedmelody knew what it meant to adapt. Her stark white coat made it nearly impossible to blend into the greens and browns of the forest. The only time she was able to blend into her environment was during leafbare. But if Hawthorneclaw was unwilling to learn, as she assumed he was, then there wasn't much she could do other than watch
