Brightdawn wiggled slightly as she waited impatiently on Tawnyowl to wake up out in the main part of camp. The tom had managed to catch her during the mate choosing ceremony, and they had decided that they were going to spend the night together out in the territory after he had taken a nap. However, she couldn't sleep and was wide awake, instead waiting for him outside and eating something to fill her belly. She couldn't remember ever feeling this nervous about anything before now.Flurryofstars

When Tawnyowl finally woke up, he was pleased to note that he wasn't sore from the strenuous sprinting during the mate choosing ceremony. Brightdawn hadn't gone easy on him, that was for sure. But he was happier than ever that he'd caught her in the end and that they'd made the decision to become mates. He smiled as he blinked the sleepiness from his eyes and stretched out his limbs. It was a wonder he slept so good because the nerves running through him about seeing Brightdawn again now were insane. Even if they'd agreed to meet later on his account, he hoped that she'd managed to rest some too.
"Sorry to keep you waiting uh," Tawnyowl started after making his way to the she-cat outside. Was there a certain way to address your mate? He never really paid any attention to that stuff before. Swallowing nervously, he settled on, "Brightdawn." Smiling to cover up any of the awkwardness, he internally cursed himself for being so clueless. He wished he could blame it on just waking up, but he was always like this. "But I'm ready now if you are."

Brightdawn looked up, breaking into a warm purr when she realized that is was Tawnyowl who had spoken. She had been a bundle of nerves, that she hadn't done much more than pick at her meal. She had allowed her body to rest even though she hadn't slept. Their run had been tiring, but not as much as the way her mind ran. At least now she had something the channel her energy into as she rose to her paw "I am ready"
She wasn't really sure what to expect tonight, only that she was happy that it was with him

Relaxing a little at her response, Tawnyowl took another step closer to her only to freeze when he realized what he was about to do. They'd already touched noses during the ceremony that very same day, but was it okay to do it again? Sure, they were technically mates now but did that mean they were fully comfortable with that much PDA. It struck him then just how little he actually knew about her. It didn't deter him though. He still really liked her. He just didn't want to mess anything up by being an idiot. He smiled at Brightdawn and then started walking again until they were side by side. "So, what do you wanna do tonight?"

"How about we go star watching?" it was something that her mother often took her to do, but that many SunClan cats never had. They worshipped the sun,and most of the warriors were asleep soon after the sun had set. She wasn't sure if her new mate would like it though,so she left it as a question. She let her pelt gently brush against his as they walked, her cheeks burning up with embarrassment. She had never really been close to anyone before Tawnyowl, at least not like this.
“Sure! Let’s do it,” he mewed, leaning into her touch as their sides brushed. He noticed her embarrassment and let out a soft laugh. “Don’t tell me you’re getting shy now. After everything we’ve been through.” He rubbed his cheek against hers as he said it, recalling their time holding up together to avoid a sandstorm—on their first date no less—the time he chased her through the woods to mark them as mates, and then after when the eruption had occurred. So much so fast and while it wasn’t all good, he couldn’t complain about where it lead to. Although, no matter how much time they spent together even he couldn’t shake the nervous fluttering in his chest.

Brightdawn felt her face flush at the comment "No that's not it... Well... I mean..." she replied clearly flustered, trying to figure out how to express the way she was feeling without revealing anything just yet "I'm a bit nervous" she finally admitted, never pulling away from his side as they walked out across the warm sands with the stars twinkling up ahead "I have something to tell you, and I'm not sure how you are going to take the news" her paws had mostly healed from the burns, but the fur that was regrowing there was short and stubbly, the skin dry and irritated underneath "It's kind of bad timing, and I...." she looked over to him with uncertainty "I'm not sure if the two of us are ready"
