Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. There were some secrets that were never secrets to begin with. Tales written to become rumors whispered in ears until they reached their intended recipient.Webs spun to ensnare unwitting prey and bring them down. Then, there were those secrets that were kept even within the grave. Those souls who kept their deepest and at times darkest mysteries locked deep within were the most troubled and often, come time for the end, suffered the greatest.
But Avalonmist didnβt like to think of such things in such ways. What a dark, cold way to consider something so natural and normal in the worldβ¦
You see, the white she-cat with russet and fire swirls had secrets of her own, as most do, but none quite as fascinating as the one held under lock and key in her heart. Perhaps no one would know the skeletons lingering deep in the recesses of her spirit, as it should be, but perhapsβ¦
Perhaps it was eating her alive from the inside out. Perhaps she wanted someone to know the truth. Perhaps she wanted to meet someone willing to coax it out of her. Someone willing to care enough to spend more than a moment on her.
He'd been a warrior for moons, established himself in a respected position, even found himself a mate and kits. The leader herself was almost a friend to him, they saw eye to eye, and he felt he was comfortably integrated. Emberbrand had his secrets, but not one cat had looked at him strangely or suspected a thing; he did his job well, but the frosty clan also didn't realize they should care. Who didn't have secrets to hide?
The red-flecked dark tom backed out of the nursery, shaking his head and pushing Limekit back inside with one paw. "I'll get you something to eat," he promised the distraught little kitten, "I'll go hunting right now." He looked up and around the camp once before his gaze focused on Avalonmist. "Come patrol with me."
Avalonmist looked up quickly, shocked out of her reverie. Shocked so much she didnβt think to argue. βRight.β She jumped to her paws and padded over, gaze briefly flicking toward the nursery entrance. βWhereβd you have in mind?β
