He stirred in his nest, eyes focusing on the pale light that sliced through the roof of the den. It was lit only by the moon - a crescent of a claw silvering past the clouds and gleaming down. He huffed to himself as quietly as he could, feeling the familiar ache in his joints. Age was a slow, and formidable foe. The Senior Warrior rose to his paws and padded to the entrance of the den. Rustedjaw glanced behind him at the gathered nests, all tucked near one another as the signs of Fall was taking its toll on the land.
A rumble sounded in the pale sky, signaling what he had definitely figured. The first couple of drops were warnings - round and exploding on the dusty floor. And then, as if on cue, the drops quickened into a heavy drizzle. Not exactly a downpour, but enough to make him take a few steps back from being splashed by the ensemble.

Unlike Rustedjaw, a small black form was reveling in the nighttime rain, amber eyes as wide as the moon. Gravekit had never seen rain before, and was awestruck by the strange wet orbs falling from the sky. Her pelt was quickly getting slicked down to her body, turning her from a fluffy bug to a spooky shadow, though the bright ringing laughter that emerged from her dispelled any illusions of fear or mystery. When she caught sight of Rustedjaw, she giggled and waved her tail towards the tom. "Isn't it magical?" she asked, not waiting for his answer as she twisted and turned and played in the precipitation.
He started in surprise, glancing down as the kitten appeared as if from thin air. The rugged tom glanced back at the rain, regarding her question, before giving a small chuckle. To a kitten it probably did seem magical. He was a Senior Warrior - so he'd definitely seen rain in lake-fulls. After a moment he chuckled and glanced back at Gravekit. "It's pretty magical," he confessed, not entirely wanting to brush the kitten off all together. He had a softer side for children. Nodding towards the shallow dips in the clearing, a small smile tugged at his maw as he added, "Though its about to get even better. If you give it a little bit, the clearing will have a bunch of little puddles in it. That's the real fun."
