Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She shifted back and forth as she waited in the medicine den as she waited for Graythrorn to come back. She had just been rescued from NightClan by her brother not long ago. Even after eating well and resting in a proper nest for the first time in moons her breathing did not seemed to become any less labored. She could hardly feel it when she walked around or did anything typical, but as soon as she started running or doing anything physical she felt like she couldn't breath. It always felt like an iron grip closed around her lungs. So, in a leap of faith for a cat like her, she wanted to ask Graythorn for some help. So, she stayed in the medicine den, waiting for him to return.
Raypaw knew on some level that she could have some permanent damage, but didn't acknowledge it. No, that simply couldn't be what happened to her. She was strong, and she had faith in her god. Something like that could never happen to her.

Tired and moody, Graythorn made his way back to his den. He had just been to the elders den where all were complaining of stiff joints. While there, he noticed several places in the den wall needed repairing. The cold air that was blowing in from these holes no doubt was the cause of the elders' ailments. I'm going to have to talk to Rosethorn about getting those lazy apprentices to do their work! No wonder cats are sick around here.
As he entered his den, he sighed upon seeing an apprentice sitting inside waiting. They're all lazy, the whole lot of them! he thought. But keeping his thoughts to himself, the gray tabby eyed Raypaw carefully. "What seems to be your problem?" he asked.

She shuffled her paws. "Well, ah, so I was in SunClan when the fire broke out. Long story short, I was stuck in a cave until the fire died. It sucked. I couldn't breath without my throat hurting, and my fur was seared, but I lived. A NightClan badger found me and made me a prisoner. And that's where I was for the past fiveish moons. I have never really breathed well since then. I thought that once I got out I would start to feel better, but I still can't go up run up a without wheezing and coughing and..." She trailed off. "I just want to know what I can do to get better. You medicine cats have those magic herbs rights? I'll just take one of those and leave."

Magic herbs indeed! The gray tabby thought indignantly. "There's nothing magic about the herbs we use," he meowed. "From what you've told me, your problem won't be an easy fix. It's going to take time. Sit down over there." He indicated a nest along the right side before going back to his herb stores. It wasn't long until he returned carrying some leaves in his mouth. "Here, eat these then lay down to rest," he said after depositing them on the ground in front of Raypaw. "Coltsfoot to ease your breathing and tansy to help with your cough. You'll have to come back here twice a day to eat them until you start feeling better." He paused, seeming hesitant to say anything more but decided to continue. "You may never get back to the health you had prior to the fire. Five moons is a long time."
Her ears flattened as he spoke. What. This wasn't going to be an easy fix? No. Way. The silver bengal rolled her eyes, but listened for now. She settled down just outside of the nest and watched him do his thing. A scowl spread across her face when he told her to rest. She opened her mouth to say something, but he just kept talking. So she held her tongue and waited for him to finish. She hardly heard what he said other than 'twice a day' and 'never get back'. "Hey, listen Graythorn-in-my-tail, I don't need to rest. That whole exercise thing right? You know that moving makes cats stronger, right Sir Medicine Cat? If I stay here, then I can't get better. Besides, I gotta go back to SunClan soon." Her heart twisted apart when she heard that she may never be healthy again, but she was never one to stay on the negative.

"You think you know more about healing than me?" Graythorn asked, his anger beginning to show in his voice. He never liked being second guessed, especially by a still wet behind the ears apprentice. "It's up to you what you choose to do. You can follow my advice and maybe get better or go off on your own and definitely get worse. It's your choice!" He knocked the herbs closer to the apprentice with a flick of his paw.
