Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Innocentia sighed with mock disappointment, "They hardly ever do, I suppose they don't learn manners as kittypets. I would know having been one before."
She rolled over onto her own paws, after all putting all her body weight down on a cat was pretty much her lying on top of a cat using all of her muscles to keep them from moving, "Maybe we'll visit him someday, stop by and bring him the extra bits of fur of his tail and tell him he forgot it," She giggled far too much like a kit.
He shook his head in wonder. "I can't imagine you as a kittypet, honest. Did they throw you out when they caught you eating the others, or did they never mind?" It seemed strange, but then, twolegs were strange as well. His muzzle wrinkled at the thought of returning the fur. "You know, I don't think he'll miss it, and it seems a waste of time to hold onto it for that long. I don't think he'd appreciate it."
"I needed some time apart from the league. When I started killing everyone just backed away from me, but unlike in the league I knew what the whispers were saying. Not poor her. She has healer blood, not hunter blood. She's no league cat. Whose her father. They feared me and when I ate a cat it felt more primal than killing could ever do. There's a moment, always a moment where I slip into someone else on that first bite of flesh. That feeling is what I savor more than the taste. But few will ever know that feeling," Innocentia said and sniffed a bit in the cold, "Why, you don't ever want to be a kittypet? You might have to consider. Before you get too old you'll have to choose to starve to death from cats not feeding you in the league or to move to two-leg place to be cared for there."
He listened to her story. It was strange, but he didn't get the sense she was just making it all up, either. Her description of eating a cat was honestly tempting and he had to shake his head to sternly remind himself he had a few more scruples than that. Cardinal was many things, but a cannibal was not one of those - not yet, and hopefully not ever. At her question he twitched his ears dismissively. "There's no getting out of this life anymore," he answered simply. "I'll be here until I die, a cold and bloody death, I'm sure. There's no peaceful rest for any of us, and if I end up anywhere other than the Dark Forest, I'll feel cheated."
"I believe that I'll turn to nothingness, that our brains just stop working and that'll be that. It's almost comforting, to know this is the one and only life I'll ever get. I just don't think there's a hell awaiting me or a heaven. Just eternal sleep. I know other cats will go somewhere, that's probably why I don't feel any guilt for killing a clan cat," Innocentia said, but tilted her head to the side, her giant pink bow shimmering in the bits of sunlight, "Though you know, I'd really love to go to the Dark Forest, I bet it would be fun. I bet it would look just like this place," She giggled, "What do you think it'll look like?"
He listened for a few moments, then shrugged. “You’re right— a lot like this. Maybe we’re already in the Dark Forest.” He grinned. He paused. “We ought to head back, unless you’re chasing that kittypet alone.”
"Heh, no," Innocentia said, bumping him playfully.
Her head leaned against Cardinal like a tired kit walking back home. She let out a yawn that sounded more like a squeak, she could get used to hanging around him. But for now she just wanted to sleep, "Let's go back home and sleep."
