Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Careful...careful..." Rat bit his lip as he poured a jug full of punch into a large bowl, struggling not to spill any on the plastic palm-leaf-printed tablecloth. The head of the Academy's Summer dorm was wearing the tackiest Hawaiian shirt he could find at a secondhand store, along with khaki shorts and tennis shoes; perfect attire for the beach, less so for the middle of winter. His shoulder-length brown hair was tied back in the faintest resemblance of a ponytail with a plastic tropical flower hair tie, courtesy of his girlfriend. Even his eyepatch matched the theme, trading in his usual medically-required one for a pirate eyepatch with a skull and crossbones.
Perhaps there was three feet of snow outside, and perhaps the dorm's activities budget was a couple of pennies and a dead fly, but Rat was determined to make this Winter-Summer Luau as fun as possible. He'd even managed to score an inflatable limbo bar and a picture booth with big plastic sunglasses and a cardboard surfboard. He let out a sigh of relief when he finally filled up the punch bowl, softly setting it on the snack table alongside several boxes of pizza and a couple large bags of potato chips. Digging through a plastic bag, he set a ladle and a stack of red solo cups beside it.
Now finally finished setting up, Rat stood back at the doorway to admire his handiwork, his hands set proudly on his hips. He stared for a moment before... "Oh! Nearly forgot!" Digging through the plastic bag of leftover decorations, he pulled out a CD labeled 'Funky Luau Hits', and walked across the room to where a CD player (who knew those things still existed?) was plugged in and he set in the CD. After a moment, Rat grinned as the melody of 1978 hit Copacabana began to blast.
(Technically this is a Summer rp, but other visitors are more than welcome! XD)
Poppy was short but extraordinarily curvy girl, hourglass was an understatement in her case, she was overflowing in all the right ways. And she knew how to flaunt her figure. Even though this was a luau-themed party she decided to show up dressed in skimpy toga (aka a frilly pink sheet) that just barely covered her to PG13 standards. On her head rested a glorious real flower crown - she was in garden club, after all - that matched Rat's hair tie and her makeup perfectly, "You did such a good job but do you really have to play old people music?!"
From her chest she retrieved a CD that had songs such as Party in the USA, I Kissed A Girl, Call Me Maybe, etc, etc. She put it in Rat's had at the same time she leaned into him, looking up at her boyfriend with big cerulean blue eyes that strongly resembled the look a puppy gave after being caught in the act of chewing up a shoe, "Please play my mix?"
Jet wrapped her hands around Fire's arm, as he lead her into where the party was being held. She glanced around nervously at the growing crowd, feeling rather out of place and afraid of running into a member of her old gang. She was wearing a simple white dress that came to her knees, with a lacey bottom and pops of blue trimming that hid the bandages underneath. Her short bobbed black hair with blueish grey tints was pulled out of her eye with a clip that held a white and blue daisy and a necklace of brightly colored flowers. She had a cute little baby bump that was just starting to show against her rather thin frame, but you would have to look carefully to notice it. It had been so cold back in Swift gangs newest home, that it was nice to finally be somewhere warm. Jet leaned into Fire, staying close to his side and just enjoy the evening he had planned for the two of them without her fears getting in the way GidgetGal
Hearing that all-too-familiar voice, Rat turned to face his approaching girlfriend, taking in her ensemble with a grin as he stared at her adoringly. "Ya look gorgeous, darlin'," he answered, lifting her chin up with his hand and placing a loving kiss on her cheek. But when Poppy mentioned the music, he pulled away with a confused expression. "Ya don' like the music?" He asked, glancing back at the CD player, clearly puzzled. "Geez, I thought this was a classic." He found himself pouting slightly, but when he glanced back at his girlfriend, he was immediately taken in by her big, pleading puppy-dog eyes. "Aww, alright doll. How 'bout I plug your tunes in once we get a good crowd in 'ere? Then we can really get this party started!"
"Hey, the Summer Dorm's apparently hosting a crappy Dollar-store luau. Wanna come with?"
Fire had his arm wrapped securely around Jet's shoulders as he led her in. It looked like they were still pretty early, as students began to slowly trickle into the common room. As the Swift Club's - not Swift Gang, he still didn't know why people kept calling it that - secretary and nursing student, he figured that Jet deserved some time to relax and to enjoy herself. This little shindig seemed innocent enough. He didn't particularly bother to dress up much; a plain long-sleeved grey t-shirt with a dark blue jacket and a pair of semi-worn jeans. With his free hand he brushed his ginger locks out of his face, glancing down at his...date with a calm, but slightly concerned expression. "Listen, if you get too overwhelmed just tell me, and we can go. Okay?"

The Primal Gang was one you didn't wanna mess with, as the headmaster of the school knew all too well. When funds were starting to run short, it only took a quick visit from the leader and one of his proxies to get him to change his tune. A little blackmail on the guy, plus the raw intimidation Sen gave him was enough for Funk to get what he wanted. The medical student closed the switchblade in his pocket as the pair stepped out into the cold campus. It was freezing this time of year, and Funk pulled the pink glittery scarf he got during their White Elephant exchange over his nose. "Ey, thanks for tagging along Sen. Keeps things from getting too dirty--"
But then. He heard it. The tragic tale of someone trying to change the song from the 1978 hit Copacabana by Barry Manilow.
And that was how the pair suddenly ended up in the Summer Dorm, appearing out of nowhere. Funk didn't even remember walking here, or how he grabbed Sen's hand and dragged her here. But they were here, and he thumbed the knife again as he approached Rat and Poppy. Leaning between the two, he reached over and swiped Poppy's mix. "What kind of beach mix is this?" He swung his arm around Rat's shoulders as he read the song list before sighing and sticking it in his pocket. "Nah, this is the real good s*it here. Look, you can tell by the art." Funk barely managed to grab the cd case and flipped it to face Poppy. It was a picture of a beach scene, complete with Funk in an equally tacky hawaiian shirt and drinking some fruity drink he couldn't remember while lounging in a hammock.
Jet slowly nodded, looking up she couldn't help but smile a little when she met Fire's gaze. He always looked at her like that, ever since the moment that they met for the first time. It was hard to describe, but she could see how much he cared for her. Always making sure that she was ok, and that she was taken care of. It was hard for her not to smile with him around, even with the thoughts of an awkward encounter in the back of her mind "With you by my side Fire, I'll be fine" she took in a deep breathe, calming herself as more guests began to filter in "What should we do first? I have never been to this kind of party" GidgetGal
Two girls strolled into the party with arms linked, smiling from ear to ear as they shared some joke. The ginger one with freckles broke off, seeing the pizza and chips across the room. "I'll be right back, Light!" she called behind her shoulder, hurrying toward the food.
Why the nursing student didn't eat better was beyond her, but Light waved Thistle off with a soft smile. The brunette would find someone else to talk to. Maybe Sky would be here?
"AH! IT'S YOU!" Poppy screamed when Funk approached, putting herself behind Rat like he was a human shield. For her credit she really was scared for Funk ever since that time he literally stabbed her in the back with a knife that one time. That scar was all too visible right now since the back of her toga was as open as the front, "RATTY what is he doing here, I thought I had him blacklisted?! Not only is he violent but it seems he has a worse taste in music than even Roachie!" strawberrycupidGidgetGal
Crow never was one for parties, but between Rat's cordial invitation and the insistence of Rose to get her sister out, he couldn't not show up, fingers interlaced with those of his girlfriend. He sported a super funky, floral-printed "dad" shirt (what he liked to call them) paired with obnoxiously bright teal shorts Orchid had tried to convince him not to wear, plastic sandals that have seen better days, and his free hand was curled around a coconut-shaped cup with one of those cute tiny umbrellas restaurants liked to garnish drinks with. "Well, this is awkward," he chuckle-coughed to his companion, motioning toward Rat who was wearing an identical shirt to his. Meanwhile, his legs were getting a little jiggy listening to the music blaring around them.
Rat blinked in surprise when the gang leader appeared from what he was certain had been thin air; the Summer Dorm's head student certainly never saw Funk walk in. He chuckled awkwardly as the other boy pulled him in by the shoulder while Poppy cowered behind him, eyeing Funk's switchblade wearily. "The Student Government wouldn't give me the funds t' throw this party unless I made it an open event," he replied to his girlfriend, placing a protective arm around her, though it didn't appear that Funk was actually planning on starting anything here. At least so far.
Glancing down in surprise at the 'Funky Luau Hits' CD Funk was now holding, it finally occurred to him why the model on the cover looked so familiar. "Honestly, I don' even know what other songs are on 'ere," he remarked, casually taking back the case and tuning to read the back. "I jus' saw Copacabana an' ya sweet digs an' knew I needed to buy it. Let's see 'ere...Aloha 'Oe, Burnin' Love, Summer Nights from Grease, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, Walkin' on Sunshine, 1988 hit Wipeout, the theme song from 2008 gameshow Wipeout, Despacito 2...?"
Fire shrugged. Usually he only went to these events for some free, less disgusting than the cafeteria food. "This usually isn't my scene either," he admitted, almost sheepishly. "I suppose we grab some food, lean against a wall to look cool, and people watch while we eat? Considering that Funk's here and I just heard the words 'Despacito 2' leave Rat's mouth, we should be in for some good entertainment." Turning his head, he nearly did a double-take upon noticing Crow standing in the doorway with his girlfriend. What luck, now he even had someone to enthusiastically avoid throughout this endeavor. But also... "Hey Jet, what the hell is my nephew wearing?"

Nah, not yet. Not unless this thing really started to blow. Or he got real curious how quick the blade could go through the shirt Rat was wearing. But two pairs of eyes kept eyeing his hand so he pulled it out of his sweatpants' pocket. Granted, he also didn't even know who the Dorm's head student was. Two troublemakers appeared out of thin air. Well, one troublemaker and Sen. Funk had stopped thinking about it cause he already had the answer, but he kept it close to the chest.
"Wow, you're so cruel to me, Pop." Funk whined half heartedly, reaching out to give her the cd back. "You gotta learn how to 'preciate the classics sometimes." He straightened up some, standing more on his own feet rather than completely leaning on Rat. Pointing at the cd case, he continued, "Yeah, school was oh so generous and gave the club some funds, so we took them and went on a lil' trip to the beach. Nice, huh? Took us forever to set up that shot." Now that he was thinking about it, Funk had no clue how Rat managed to get a copy of this. But oh well.

At fire's words, she looked over to see the oddly dressed Crow hanging out with some girl whom she only could assume was his girlfriend "The better question is who is that with him?" she giggled, relaxing a little bit though she still clung to Fire's arms "But a meal sounds..." he voice trailing off at the sight of what was happening at the food table
Desert was standing at the punch bowl, whistling in his red Flash t-shirt. his hand was slowly dipping into his pockets, and when he thought no one was looking he pulled out a mysterious black package and poured the contents into the punch before walking off like nothing had happened just in time for Jet to see his actions. Once he was some distance away, he sat down on the stair case leaning up against the wall and pulled out a little notebook and a pen. He chewed on the tip of the pen while he watched what would happen next. Who ever had decided to drink the punch would be in for a big surprise... The candies that he had put inside the punch would pop and crackle in the mouth whomever decided to drink it.
Jet blinked motioning towards his other nephew "on second thought, maybe this isn't the best place to get some food" GidgetGalwoof
"I'm not even sure where you get those shirts," Orchid remarked with a laugh, rolling her eyes. She wasn't sure why Rose was so intent on getting her out of the dorm, but she had to admit that all the studying was getting to her and she needed an excuse to let go. It was nice, knowing Crow was there with her. Her own attire was simple- a short black skirt and flowing red blouse, and her white hair was pinned up in a neat updo. "I think you took the luau invite a little seriously- or was it to impress Rat?" Her voice was gently teasing as she reached up to smooth down a stray black hair that was falling over his forehead.
