Silverfringe hadn't seen any trace of her mate since SunClan had been forced from their home onto MoonClan's territory, but she wasn't willing to give up on Sorrowfularia just yet. She didn't have any proof that they had made it out of the fire, no hints as to were they might have went, but that wouldn't stop her from looking. Tucking in her kits into the nursery and setting up a kit sitter, she finally had some time alone. Even with the sun out and shining through the trees, the air was crisp and cool. It was unnatural, especially for a cat whom had never known anything but the sun's warmth on her pelt. Perhaps he had taken the opportunity to go to DayClan, he wouldn't be the first... and before she knew it she found herself walking along the border, desperate to catch a glimpse of their beautiful pelt
He had watched her leave, and his heart went with her. Her mate was lost, likely dead, but she couldn’t give up on them. What had they ever done to inspire such devotion, such loyalty? Before he knew it, like a dream, she was leaving and he was silently drawn behind by an irresistible invisible string.
As she waited by the border, he took a deep breath, then made his approach. “Silverfringe, goddess, you cannot wait for them forever. Come back to camp, it is too dangerous to be out here now,” Sootcastaway urged. His voice was gentle. “The cold, predators, our enemies, they all lurk in our shadow.”
Silverfringe turned on the tom that had spoken to her, though there was no sadness in her eyes only anger. Yes she had been hoping for a glimpse of her mate, but it was to drag him back to SunClan by his tail to be the father she knew he could be. The cat had obviously misread why she was walking along the border, but she had full intentions of correcting them "I have no intentions of waiting on them" her lip curling upwards "No I am going to hunt him down, like the animal he is" she paused continuing on her path "There is no where they can hide from me, though they can try. I will find them sooner or later, and when I do.." she smirked slightly "lets just say its the predators, enemies, and shadows that should be afraid"

Sorrowfularia had intended to return. Well probably, maybe. Who knows, really. They had considered stepping out to say hi to their mate, as though nothing had ever happened, and then again considered adding in some flirty retort to the tom who was attempting to pursue her. Somehow, though, her next comment about finding them wherever the nonbinary Janus may be... was terrifying. Rightly so, they knew Silverfringe well enough to know they were going to be in big trouble when, not if, she found them.
As such, they sought to prolong that by a little bit... and scooted back, only to step on a stick that broke with a loud CRACK that Silverfringe would certainly notice and go after in a heartbeat. In that moment, Sorrowfularia threw caution into the wind, and straight up bolted at top speed away from the border and SunClan territory.
Sootcastaway’s whiskers quivered as she spoke, caught off guard by her passion. “But Silverfringe, the shadows can’t feel fear,” he explained regrettably, “and you cannot harm them. Eternal darkness will be like a warm embrace that the shadow longs to return to, and sunshine... well, there is no shadow without light. There is no injury that can harm a shadow, no matter how sharp your words. They are patient and they are hungry.”
He was prepared to continue, but he stopped when he heard a stick crack. He watched the white pelt bound away, unaware it was her quarry.
Perfect. While Sootcastaway droned on, she lashed out to where she had known Sorrowfularia was hiding. Her claws raked through his slick pelt, only missing his skin through sheer luck as he bolted "You can run, but you can't hide" she called after him, before her back legs pushed off against the ground to give chase. Even as she crossed over the border, it was almost as if she hadn't even noticed that she had crossed over onto enemy lands "If you don't get your tail back here right now, even the Sun God won't be able to save you"

"AND IF I STOP, I'M NOT GOING TO SURVIVE TO SEE MORNING!" The Janus countered easily, throwing themself at a tree and springing off at an angle to hopefully outpace her. In a way, it was thrilling, they enjoyed the fact anyone would be oh so willing to chase after them. On the other paw, they actually KNEW Silverfringe. She wasn't any ordinary she-cat.... And she absolutely, without hesitation, would gut them in a heartbeat. Sorrowfularia was a Janus, they weren't necessarily weak, but even they knew full well that they were more inclined to knowledge than battle, she would have no difficulty in skinning them alive.

Silverfringe rolled her eyes as Sorrowfularia bounced around, she assumed it was some crude attempt to get away. It was truly the only opening that she needed, as she pounced, knocking their feet out from underneath them so that before they would know what was happening Sorrowfularia was laying on the ground with her laying on their chest and along their body. There was one paw on either side of their neck with claws out, as she gazed down at them with a look of disdain "And now you won't even make it to night-fall" a deep growl rumbled in her throat as she lowered her muzzle

A loud curse exited their mouth as they rolled, hopes of escape dashed as they were stretched on their back, staring into her eyes. Well, there wasn't much getting out of this one, though Sorrowfularia did wriggle around in a pitiful attempt as her muzzle lowered. Rather that simply letting this be the end, giving into their fate, an impish sort of smile slipped across the Janus features as they gave Silverfringe a deliberate kiss on the cheek. "I love you." They purred. At least if they were going to die, they were going to go out with that one last statement.

Silverfringe felt her cheeks heat up at their comment. How was it that even when she was this mad, that they were still able to disarm her with that charming smile of theirs "YOU....." she grumbled, obviously flustered as they gave her a peck on the cheek. She had never been so conflicted between slicing a cat open and making out with them at the same time "If you loved me you wouldn't have left" she scolded, claws digging into his fore arms as she pressed her muzzle to his despite still being rather angry
Sootcastaway trotted leisurely after them. He probably shouldn't be crossing borders as an initiate, but he was too interested to care. "She's right, you know," he quipped as she pinned down her partner. He looked at them disdainfully. "I would never leave such a heavenly she-cat, come down from the isles herself to bless us, alone."

"But if I never leave, then I never get to see you at your most beautiful. There's no time you're more gorgeous than when you're seconds away from ripping out my throat." Sorrowfularia purred in response, winking at their blushing mate playfully. The feline tilted their head to look at the suitor Silverfringe had apparently drawn to herself while they were away.
A slow laugh rumbled up in their throat as they looked between the pair. The Janus wasn't the jealous type, and Silverfringe knew that well enough. "He's right, you are heavenly." They commented, "Though he's pretty handsome himself. I think we do have room in our nest for another, if you're liking what you seen." They gave Sootcastaway a flirty smile and an air kiss as if to emphasize their point.
Let's get real a moment: Sootcastaway wasn't quite as head over heels as he pretended to be. He didn't know Silverfringe well at all, but he knew she had a mate, and he thought it would push her buttons if he paddled after her like a lovesick youth. She was pretty, she had a strong spirit that appealed to him, but he wasn't so lost without her as he pretended to be. When they ran into her mate, he figured his ruse would quickly come to an end, but instead they invited him into their nest. That must be another joke, right? Strangely, he couldn't tell.
The gray initiate straightened up and shook his head slightly, offended. "You would take space away from your mate for some tom you just met? Do you even know my name?"

Silverfringe looked up from her mate, eyes looking up and down the tom that she had almost forgotten was there "Mmm, not bad" but she turned her face back to Sorrowfularia "But you also haven't slept in our nest for a while. Its crowded with all the kits, but tonight it is going to be just you and me" it didn't really answer the tom's questions but her next statement would "Sorry, but no I don't know your name and no you won't be sharing our nest tonight"
The Janus squirmed slightly underneath Silverfringe, though this time, they looked more excited than afraid. "Pity." Sorrowfularia answered the tom, not that he seemed all too disappointed. "Guess his name should be Shotdown, after your rebuttal."
