Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Momo was almost visibly buzzing with excitement. It was a perfect day. The sky was clear and the sun was at its peak in the sky the air only holding a slight chill, but it was slowly being chased away by the growing warmth from the sun. She'd been waiting for this day. Though she'd never thought that it would have happened. The cream she-cat wasn't one of the most skilled Viony's that BrookClan had to offer, but she was still going to do her best at training the Kadet that Kerrigan had appointed her. Especially since she had grown quite fond of the cat who'd she'd been given. She faintly thought that that was probably the reason why Tsar Kerrigan had appointed her as Lua's mentor. Her blue eyes crinkled at the sides as she remembered the conversation that she and Lua had had upon there first meeting. The promise they had made. So, now the time had come for them to fulfill that promise.
The cream viony was waiting near the center of the BrookClan camp, where cats would usually gather to share tongues and eat. Her ears twitched in a barely contained excitement as she looked around for Lua surprised the newly appointed Kadet hadn't sought her out yet.
Lua had grown a bit since they had last interacted, but the light hadn't left her eyes. She had also become more and more vocal, which had meant that she was more and more willing to pester her adoptive mother into letting Momo be her mentor. Kerrigan hadn't necessarily been the highest cat on the Tsar's list for her adopted daughter; in fact, it was incredibly odd that someone outside of the Harlow family was allowed to mentor her. But, the young she-cat had been absolutely insistant that Momo was her mentor. Eventually, Kerrigan had just given up and let her have what she wanted. She had exited the last meeting with Kerrigan about her future mentor with a smug look on her face; she had won.
Lua's tail waved through the air as she padded quickly up to her new mentor. "Momo!" she purred, a grin on her face. "See, I told you my ma would let you train me sometime!" Her gaze was wide and affectionate towards the first cat who had really been her friend in the group. "Sorry it took me so long!"
Momo's attention quickly turned to look at Lua upon hearing her voice. The elder's look mirrored the one currently present on the younger's face. A pleased bubble of laughter leaving her mouth at the kadet's words. The viony shook her head a few times a smile beaming on her face, "No, need to apologize~ I'm just happy you made it this far~" she purred back. She took a few steps forward before gently bumping her forehead affectionately against Lua's and took a couple steps backward, "Congratulations my friend" she praised her tail swaying with pride as she looked at her. As she stared at Lua a new determination burned in the cream she-cat to do her best to prepare Lua for the hopefully long life she would have a head of her.
Without missing a beat her smile seemed to grow, "So what did you want to do first? Explore the territory or try and hunt down the biggest hare the clan has ever seen." she giggled as she spoke.
Lua grinned widely at her. Although she was larger now than the first time the two interacted, she still had a glow in her eyes that came with still being excited to see the whole world. "Thank you! I'm so so excited! There's just so much I can see and do that I couldn't before!" Her purr was delighted, as it often was. There wasn't much that seemed to get under her skin. She nuzzled her mentor, before grinning. She wasn't lying; it was as if she had been waiting for this moment for moons. Things in the Harlow den or camp could get boring after a while, and she was a cat who wanted to see it all. There was only so much seeing to do in confined spaces.
Her smile widened (if that was possible) when Momo brought up the hare. That had been one of the first things the two had bonded over, and it had made it so Momo was the first friend that Lua had actually found in the group. "Maybe we should start with exploring the territory? We can scope out where the big hares can live and then we can make a strategy ~!"
Lua's large smile was contagious and Mom could help but smile along with her. She'd watched Lua grow from a podarok to a cadet in the blink of an eye. It left the Viony with a bittersweet feeling lingering in her chest. She nodded her head at what the other had said, that would be a perfect way to start their lessons together. Momo hadn't been a mentor to any cadet during her time in BrookClan, so this would not only be a learning experience for Lua, but for the cream she-cat as well. And Momo was determined to do her best to teach Lua all she could.
"That sound's like a good idea to me" she hummed with another nod of her head. She eyed Lua as a thought flickered across her mind before she inwardly nodded her head. She knew exactly what they could do today. "Well, I'm ready to go whenever you are" she grinned nodding her head towards the camp entrance.
"Okay!" she chirped. Truly, Momo could have led Lua to the ends of the world and told her to jump and the young she-cat would have probably listened. Momo had been her first friend, and there was a level of trust that she felt towards the cream cat that had been unmatched by any other member of BrookClan. Maybe that was because she still wasn't the kind that branched out as much as she'd like (she'd like to be best friends with the whole group), or maybe it was just because she was content with her life. This would one day become the downfall of little Lua, the fact that she was willing to trust the world, or at least anyone who was willing to come too close to her. Anyone who wanted her trust earned it with limited effort.
She let out a hum similar to her mentor's, before letting her eagerness get the best of her. "Uhm, let's go now!" she meowed with a grin. "This is gonna be just so much fun ! You and me and the world !"
Momo purred at Lua's excitement before she nodded her head towards the cap entrance, "Okay, let's go~" she replied the grin still beaming on her face. The concept of them and the world seemed almost daunting to the viony. There was a big world out there to explore. It was filled with any goods and wonderful things, but there were also dark evils that lurked in the shadows waiting to swallow up those of a soft and pure mind. As Momo looked down at Lua as her mentor Momo would do her best to prepare her for such things, though whether Lua would listen was another thing. Shaking the darker thoughts from her mind her smile softened. She'd do what she could and the rest would be up to her friend. Momo couldn't protect her from her decisions but she could try and prepare her to make good ones.
Momo had started walking towards the entrance casting a look over her shoulder to look at Lua, "Hurry up slowpoke~" her lighthearted tease causing her blue eyes to crinkle at the corners.
She wasn't ready for those darker things yet, and there was a chance that she never would be. Perhaps that was just the struggle of being a truly good cat; there wasn't much space in the world for good cats. They tended not to make it in the dog-eat-dog climate, especially not the one of BrookClan. Yet, Lua was going to do her best. She was going to learn every single thing she could from her mentor and it would be good. Everything would be good, and she was excited. Excited to smell the roses, to ice skate, to go to her first gathering. To do everything the world had to offer her. She was ready, endearingly so, to make the world her own. Or, at least, so she thought. She was proud of it too, and proud that Momo would be the one to do it with her. She was completely at ease with the older cat, and perhaps Momo was the first one that this was entirely true for. Even with Kerrigan, there was some cognitive distance.
"Oh, I'm coming!" she squeaked girlishly. Some things would never change, and her squeaks of excitement were probably one of them. "You're just going so fast," she purred, before chasing after her to close the distance between she and her friend.
Momo giggled inwardly as Lua chased after her, slowing her quick stride only slightly so she would catch up that little bit faster. The she-cat returned her focus to in front of her, not wanting to trip over anything or bump into anyone who was trying to enter the camp. She'd done that one too many times growing up. Her senses were on alert and she couldn't hear anyone close by. Her gaze shifted once again to Lua wanting to see her expression when she was finally allowed to step outside of the campgrounds and explore the territory. She remembered her eagerness as a young kit to leave the camp and had patiently waited for the day.
"Remember to stay close, okay?" the viony reminded her Kadet giving her a soft smile before she slipped out of the camp and finally stepped outside.
"Kay !" she meowed as she skipped alongside of her mentor. When they broke the boundary of the camp, her eyes widened much larger than they normally did. The kitten's enchantment that always close to Lua only became more intense as she looked around. Wonder filled her gaze. This was what outside of the boundary was !
"It looks so much different than the last time I was out here!" she squeaked brightly. "There's snow everywhere! It's a frozen wonderland~!" she chirped, before she immediately made it her job to sniff every single thing that she could find close enough to her that it wouldn't upset Momo. "There's so much stuff !"
Momo purred at Lua's reaction, she was happy that she was there to witness it. The cream she-cat had grown used to the territory, it no longer gave the viony a sense of wonder like it first had. Sure, there were things that were beautiful, but they had dulled over time in the cat's blue eyes. Something could only stay enchanting for so long.
She chuckled at Lua's excited chirping as she found herself looking around once again. She could admit to herself that it did look like a frozen wonderland. The fresh powdered snow glittering in the sunhigh sky. Momo could see Lua's eagerness to keep on moving and to look around at every little thing. So, she did. The older she-cat deciding that she'd take her around the borders first and work their way inwards from there. She then realized she hadn't voiced her plans before she had started walking, "We'll go look at the borders first before I take you around to some important parts of the territory~" she lilted looking towards Lua.
"The borders!" she agreed, before letting her mentor get a few steps ahead of her so that she could follow. "I came from a border, you know. I think the one in the north because I know I didn't come from aother group,a t least I don't think I did. Hmm, maybe I did," she chattered as they walked. "But I think it was the north one with all the rogues," she decided. "I think my real ma was a rogue but I don't really know a lot about her I don't really remember her." SHe hummed this in a happy tone, as if she wasn't talking about her abandonment.
"What are the major parts of the territory?" she then asked. "Are they cool ? Do we get to see real cool things ?" She could barely contain herself, and it was clear by her hyper movements.
