“My heart is pierced by cupid, I disdain all glittering gold…”
The tune slid into a soft hum in the back of the she-cats throat as she nimbly jumped onto a hollow log. The white she-cat placed one dainty paw in front of the other as her gold eyes dazzled brightly beneath half hooded lids. A small smile pulled at her muzzle as she carefully jumped off the log, her movements quiet and slow. It was almost as if Hauntedmelody was a specter, floating across the forest floor as she searched for feathers and seeds. She had no reason to gift any of her clanmates with a horrid dead beetle. Not yet anyway. Hauntedmelody was sure that they’d love her gifts. She paused in her light steps, her golden eyes transfixed on a small robin’s feather. The pure white warrior strolled over to the prospective gift, sitting down before it and picking it up gently between her paws as she continued to hum. She turned the feather in her paws, carefully inspecting it before she carefully grabbed it in her mouth to store with all the other gifts she had found.
“There is nothing can console me, but my sailor bold…”
It wasn't often that Peachcream left the den of her own accord, but, after just being promoted to nursery aid, she was finding the nursery rather suffocating. Not because it was an enclosed space or anything, but because of the pure amount of traffic it always seemed to hold. Yes, she was grateful that she wasn't a warrior, so she had an excuse to hide away all day, but the kits kept trying to bother her. It was exhausting and terrifying! Never before had she imagined that kits would be the cause of her death, but just in these past few days it's been the only thing that she could think of. They were going to gang up on her, and she needed to escape.
Fresh air wasn't the most comforting thing, but at least she was alone. The cream she-cat let out a hefty sigh as she collapsed to the ground, finally beginning to catch her breath and relax once more. Perhaps she could find a hole in a tree and live there forever, isolated from her clanmates. But then a bear could eat her - did Fallclan even have bears? She had heard about them once in a story, but with her luck she would still run into one! Or maybe a dog or a - wait. She paused in her frantic fears, ears twitching as the sound of singing reached them. What if it was a bear? Or a ghost? Or a ghost bear!? Letting out a scream, Peachcream curled up into herself, forming a tiny, trembling fall of fur. "No! Leave me alone, ghost bear!"

Hauntedmelody paused in her hum, her ears flicking as she heard the cry. Truth be told, she hadn't noticed the presence of another warrior in the forest. The plump she-cat thought she had been alone. The white-furred warrior moved towards the frightened cat, her lips turning into a soft smile as she gazed down at Peachcream. Hauntedmelody sat down, her movements silent and graceful as she curled her tail over her paws. Her yellow gaze narrowed playfully on the young warrior as she very gently placed the feather she had found down on the ground.
"Ghost bear? Oh my... if only we should be so lucky!" She cooed, her voice soft and sweet. "Dear, sweet Peachcream. Fear not. 'Tis only I, Hauntedmelody. My, you do need to get out more don't you? The darling little children seem to have wound you up!" Hauntedmelody did not envy the nursery aid. She couldn't imagine having to watch the little things all day and night. No, she quite enjoyed the freedom she had as a warrior and cherished every minute of it
Faintly, Peachcream could hear the soft shuffling of movement outside of her protective ball, which only made her curl up tighter, if it were even possible. She even went so far as to attempt to hold her breath as she imagined the monstrosity that was approaching her. It probably had fangs larger than her, and, and, claws! Big, scary claws! The movement around her quieted and only the sound of her own heartbeat drummed in her ears, and she finally dared to breathe again. Perhaps the beast was movement sensitive.
And then Hauntedmelody spoke, and Peachcream let out a loud scream, uncurling from her ball and scooting as far away as possible, her eyes squeezed shut. "NO! You lie! You- you- you stupid ghost bear! Stay away from me! I'll... I'll do something! I swear! I'll- oh." Ever so slowly, throughout her screaming, her eyes opened, and the terrifying image of the ghost bear that she had built up in her mind evaporated into the form of Hauntedmelody. Still scary, but at least it wasn't a ghost bear.

Hauntedmelody hadn’t expected Peachcream to scream. Her yellow eyes grew wide, ever so slightly, but still glimmered with amusement. She held one paw up against her muzzle, doing her best to refrain from laughing at the other’s expense. She seemed truly petrified at this ghost bear she had imagined. The white she-cat curled her fluffy tail around her paws, simply waiting for Peachcream to finally calm down. A smile twisted along her muzzle as the young nursery aid finally opened her eyes.
“You see?” Hauntedmelody purred, finally rising to her paws. “Tis only I, as I said before. You’ve given yourself quite the fright over nothing, my dear. Are you alright? Heart racing a bit too fast? Perhaps you should focus a bit on your breathing, I hear that helps.”
With the sound of her heart still pounding in her ears, it was a little hard for Peachcream to hear what Hauntedmelody was saying, but she was pretty sure she got the gist of it. While the rather creepy she-cat definitely wasn't the ghost bear that she had been expecting to see, it was hard to actually calm herself. While the warrior listed her questions, Peachcream could only stare with wide, round eyes, hardly daring to blink. There was totally something scary behind that smile, wasn't there? Did Hauntedmelody know something that she didn't?
"....I'm okay," she lied, ignoring the advice in favor of trying to figure out what Hauntedmelody was planning. They were rather isolated out here, weren't they? It would be the perfect place for a murder to occur. Was that the warrior's plan? Was she about to be murdered? With the thoughts going through her head, the fear was rising up in Peachcream once again. "Don't kill me!" she suddenly screeched, throwing her face to the ground and wrapping her paws around the top of her head, as if to try and protect herself somehow.

“Okay? Well I suppose okay is better than not okay,” Hauntedmelody cooed as she started walking around the nursery aid. “Okay can be perfectly alright for some cats, or it can be something said to hide the pain. Are you in pain? Your breathing seems to have sped up again.” The white she-cat observed, her normally wide eyes looking over her carefully. “Oh dear it seems as though you’re about to panic once more. Even after I’ve told you-“
Hauntedmelody paused as Peachcream screamed once more, this time with a plea to spare her life. What an amusing Fallclan cat this Peachcream was. Her smile grew ever wider. Yes, this Peachcream was definitely a cat she’d gift a feather too. Only because she amused her so. The white she-cat began to hum again, waiting for the she-cat to calm down once more before she gently tapped her head. “You’ve quite the lovely voice. You should sing, have you ever tried? Truly uplifting for the soul.”
