Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Waves lapped at the shore, the sun high and bright, and if there was a chill in the air that morning, it had long since been chased away. Crow stood in the smack center of everyone he'd gathered to this location; on one side of him, the eyes of his group members all looked past him at the two newcomers to his other side, the scent of SummerClan thick on their pelts. With a sharp intake of air, he mustered up the courage to begin, despite feeling a little self conscious.
"I know I've asked you all to be here with little information other than that we would be taking a journey to help a friend of mine. I'm sorry about that, but now I would like to elaborate. These are friends of mine, Orchidpaw and Rosepaw." He gestured to each of them in turn. He wouldn't consider he and Rosepaw friends exactly, as they'd just met the day before, but he opted against rambling too much with needless information. "They've asked us to escort them on their search to locate the rogues that killed their parents. I know we as a group abstain from violence, but I said I wanted a family and family takes care of their own. Orchidpaw and Rosepaw are part of my family, so I would like to help them. We will be leaving now, but you all have the option to stay behind and watch over our territory."
Crow allowed his words to settle and to glimpsed between the throng of cats he'd all come to know as kin. As soon as they'd all decided whether they would be joining in on the hunt, he turned to the sisters and nodded to them to lead the way.
Yumemi looked around at her new acquantainces. The old Yumemi would've immediately jumped to calling them her new family, but the new Yumemi would wait at least a month before giving them that title. Three weeks, if they were chill. "Well, I will! Go, I mean. I'm gonna." She flicked an ear, internally lamenting the way her mouth moved before her mind. "The potential confrontation with killer rogues seems like a good reason to bring along someone who knows their way around herbs." She moved to join Crow and the sisters, but turned to face the others before she met up wth them completely. "...Realistically, is anyone planning on staying behind?"
"I'm certainly not." Avenging the fallen and saving some damsels in distress? Yeah, that was heroic enough to pique Cygnus's interest. He hopped to his paws and stretched languidly in the light. He didn't care much about the pair of she-cats, he was already starting to get hyped for the coming journey. They might face trouble, maybe get into a tough battle with the murderers, and the idea thrilled him. The group might abstain from violence, but Cygnus didn't.
"C'mon, let's go with them." He nudged his brother Orion, then trotted after Crowpaw.
Orion shuffled his paws, debating the pros and cons of joining Crow and his brother on this mission to help a pair of Summerclan apprentices. Personally he had never been a fan of violence or confrontation in general; wouldn't it be easier to just forgive, forget, and move on? Why must they go on a witch hunt to avenge cats they didn't even know? As he was lost in his thoughts, he was startled by Cygnus bumping him, trotting confidently after the other members of the Syndicate. He wished he could be so confident, and make decisions on a whim. After a final moment of hesitation, he relented. "...Alright, I'll go too. But for the record I choose personally to abstain from violence here, I'm not attacking anyone unless it's self-defense." At the very least, he could still stand by his morals. He glanced over at the two clan she-cats. "I can be a bodyguard, if either of them prefer one."
Hawthorne tilted his head to the side as he pondered the thought. Truthfully, he wasn't against violence if it served a purpose, and even if he did, he believed that Crow was right- family stood by family. "I can't let you all go without me," he meowed after a moment. "'Specially if you're bringing the little ones." He glanced over at Chimera and Daisy. He didn't know exactly how old they were, or even if the phrase "little ones" would suit them, but their comments about the warriors from the stories suggested that if nothing else, they were still a little wet behind the ears when it came to living this sort of life. Even if they weren't bringing cats who didn't seem to have the most experience, Hawthorne still would have made himself at use. After all, he was the one of the largest of the group; if nothing else, he had a scare factor to him, even if he was genuinely good.
His whiskers twitched as Yumemi posed the question, but he didn't address her rhetoric, instead feeling his heart swell with appreciation, pride, and optimism. Whatever they were bound to face, he knew they could overcome it. "You don't have to do anything you don't want, Orion. I'm grateful for your support regardless." He wouldn't except any of them to compromise their beliefs for his own; those weren't the values he'd founded his group on. Turning to the sisters, he waved his tail across each member of the gang in turn. "These are Yumemi, Cygnus, Orion, Daisy, Chimera, and Hawthorne. Looks like the whole gang will be coming along on this one." A toothy grin was bright on his face, Crow nudging Orchidpaw's shoulder, though he became more serious after a moment, the gravity of the situation becoming reality. This was real. They would be walking blindly into whatever came next, towards cats known for two-- almost three-- accounts of murder. sunlight
Yumemi gave the twins a bright smile. "You two are gonna be just fine!" she chirped. "You're in capable paws, don't you worry. I've only known these guys for like, a day, but I already trust them with my life!"
(apologies for the late response hehehe) The two sisters had differing reactions to the group's decision. Orchidpaw smiled faintly, leaning into Crow as he spoke to her. Part of the reason he agreed to help her was likely that he believed her cause, but it was also apparent to anyone with eyes that there was a spark between the two young cats, which likely factored into his dedication to hunting down the rogues. Orchidpaw regarded each of the members of the gang in turn with her solemn sapphire eyes. "Thank you," she said, heartfelt appreciation coloring her tone. "These rogues... I assure you that they are monsters. They would have killed me and my sister alongside our parents- they are the reason I have this scar on my cheek." Absently she lifted a paw to motion at the healed scar on her white-furred features.
Rosepaw, beautiful as ever in her voluminous cream and gray pelt, simply grunted her assent. She still wasn't sure of the entire operation, but hell would freeze over before she let her sister trot off into a murderer's den alone. "I could use a bodyguard," she told Orion after a long moment, her sharp amber eyes flicking to the side. "I'm not... the best at fighting." In truth she was useless- her sister was the talented one. "Thanks." Her gratitude was faintly grudging, since she hated admitting her own weakness. "Thank you to all who are helping us."
Crow gave a few moments for the sisters to express their own gratitude, then said (more like choked, his cheeks warm at Orchidpaw's touch), "Alright, then. Make sure to keep an eye out for trouble, as I'm sure all of you know already, and make sure to keep up." He flashed a knowing, devious grin toward his fellows; there was no doubt they could all outpace him if they wanted to, and that was a fact everyone here knew already. The ink-pelted tom's stride hitched at every other step, but nothing would deter him as he led them all away from the shoreline and towards the unknown.
we can either time skip and assume they had a fun lil trip, or we can actually rp out the family road trip xD up to whoever posts next
since no one else has made a decision i guess we are going with a time skip LOL
They had been walking for a while. He'd lost track of just how long, since he'd been chattering away at anyone who would listen to him in his deep drawl. He only noticed that they were coming to whatever destination they were headed to - he still wasn't quite sure on the details - because Crow seemed to slow down slightly. "This us?" he asked, mostly to determine whether or not he needed to switch from handsome mountain gentleman to burly mountain man real fast.
i was abiding by the unspoken laws of POSTING ORDER
"Oh, we're here?" Yumemi glanced around her surroundings. "Bummer. I was planning on screeching out a few more are we there yets before we arrived. Oh well. Still got the next roadtrip to look forward too." The area seemed mostly quiet, devoid of even the incessant chirping of birds or the quiet scuffle of vermin making its way through the undergrowth. Unnerved, Yumemi wormed her way a little more into the middle of the pack. Can't have the medic getting hurt.
Ahead of them, situated in the sides of a steep cliff, a yawning mouth rose and seemed to swallow any light that filtered into it. The Syndicate members were still concealed in the shadows of the thicket, but moving forward to approach the cavern would expose them no matter which way they went about it, and Crow was unnerved by that. "They'll see us before we see them. We'll wait for the sun to go down. It'll give us a chance to make a game plan and scout to see if we can tell how many are in there," he decided.
As the sun began to descend behind them, the light of day slipping away, Crow signaled for them to move forward. He'd divided the group into two waves: The first of which consisted of himself, Orchidpaw, Hawthorne, Cygnus, and Chimera; and the second wave was instructed to stay back out of harm's way, Yumemi standing by with herbs and Orion and Daisy assigned to watch Rosepaw. The SummerClan apprentice had argued vehemently at first, but Crow had remained firm until her brazen objections died down to grumbled acceptance (so long as she could come in before the killing blow was struck).
The young cat leading the charge looked a lot different than the young cat with the bad jokes and modest demeanor. He sauntered toward the rogues' lair like a lion would close in on prey, a shadow given sentience, and his claws glinted the same silver as the rising moon as if crafted out of it. Once they were all in position, he glimpsed over at where Orchidpaw stood. "Whenever you're ready. The four of us are right beside you."
Orchidpaw shifted nervously, lifting her nose to the scent of the three rogues with trepidation. This past week and a half had been a trial on her and Rosepaw, she knew. They had returned to their old den, where they had lived with their parents, to track the scent. It had been three moons since the night of the attack, and animals had long since devoured the bodies of their parents.
The sisters had had varying reactions to seeing the remaining bones of their parents, lying beside the place they had once shared tongues and spent merry afternoons chattering in the sunlight. Rosepaw had promptly turned and vomited, but Orchidpaw stared at the piles in silence, burning the image in her brain with an eerie determination, until Crow had nudged her gently and redirected her to try to find the rogue scent.
Finally, she had found them, and the fading scents brought back images to her the forefront of her mind- she lifted a paw to her cheek as she remembered the sharp blow that had given her her scar. There were other, quick images- her mother crying out as her father was struck down, her own crimson blood mixing with his on the floor of Orchidpaw's childhood home. Orchidpaw had watched from a distance, frozen, until the rogues had turned their twisted, glee-ful gaze onto her and begun their pursuit.
"I'm ready," Orchidpaw said in a harsh whisper, her claws flexing into the compact earth. Their scents were fresh here, as close as they were to their camp. Her blue eyes flashed in the sunset, brimming with grief and fury and determination. She turned to Crow as if to tell him to lead the way, but then she remembered that this was her mission. Rolling back her shoulders, she strode towards the den, not looking to see if the others were following. If they didn't, it was no matter. She would strike down all three of the rogues herself.
The rogues were not expecting the attack, sitting and grooming themselves after their evening meal. Orchidpaw's charge was swift and strong, sweeping into the den in a white blur, passing the rogue that had wounded her in favor of the one who had slit her parents' throats. She made no sound, no growling or hissing, silent as she slammed into the scarred gray rogue and sank claws and teeth into him, taking care to maim instead of kill until the others had subdued the remaining killers.
(apologies for the long reply heheh. Feel free to roleplay out the rogue you're fighting, in any post order!)
He trusted that Hawthorne would back up Cygnus, and there was nothing Crow was more sure of than Orchidpaw's capability as a warrior, so the Syndicate leader was a shadow at Chimera's side. The younger calico tom was no pushover-- Crow had trained him himself-- but he was still young and inexperienced, and he would not let danger come to his enthusiastic ward.
Their target was a ragged ginger cat with spindly legs and a cracked snaggletooth, who prowled towards Orchidpaw as she charged through. Crow intercepted the strike before he had a chance to touch the white warrioress, the sting of claws piecing into his crippled shoulder, but fury was coursing through him and eradicated any feelings of pain. He wrenched his shoulder back, blood splattering the floor, only to ram it right back against the chest of the rogue, winding him. Regaining his balance, Crow struck out with his good leg, battering against his attacker until the rogue lapsed in focus, attention drawn to where the clan cat battled with his companion-- and then he was on the ground, a black beast upon him in an instant. "Chimera," he hissed, "help me hold him." Crow was no fool to think he could keep the rogue down on his own with a weakened leg, so he beckoned the calico over to him. Nova
The large tom erupted into the clearing. Unlike Orchid, there was no hiding his entrance. He had never been one that was particularly good at the surprise attack; he'd never quite grown into his size, and it left his running.... sloppy at best. Still, grace wasn't the most needed things after the first blows were made, right? He didn't have time to contemplate this, as he soon was in a head on collision with one of the rogues. "Fancy meetin' you here, champ," he hissed, connecting his paw to the other's head.
if theres a role that isn't me awkwardly fighting bc i dont know how please let me know LMAO i'm so bad at this
