Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
**Glowstar is not dead, Bloodystar intentionally faked her death by leaving a scorched indistinguishable body behind where Glowstar had collapsed so everyone thinks she is dead.
In this plot anyone can object or support Tigerlily wanting to be leader, but also any of your characters can step up to propose themselves as leader. We will have a vote at the end that will be determined by the characters to see who gets to temporarily rule DayClan. Anyone who has a DayClan cat apprentice and up can nominate themselves! (Pinging you guys cause I know you'll have fun with this xD)
DayClan cats gathered around the wisteria tree at the center of camp. Flowers scattered around the tree and autumn leaves swept through the air, a beautiful day for a difficult time.
"The battle with SunClan has ended in a hollow victory. We won the war, but the flames have taken the life of Glowstar, my mother," Leucisticcrow said. He wanted to break, really the only reason he didn't was the realization that there was no head of the family anymore. Which meant it was Senescence and him now. "My mom would want DayClan to succeed forward into a peaceful life of unity and fun. So for as hard as this day is, a new leader needs to be chosen."
Glowstar was the longest lasting leader in DayClan and likely the longest reigning leader in any clan history. It felt like she would exist forever, the idea of her being replaced had always felt like an impossible scenario until now.
"I can become leader," Tigerlily said stepping forward. She was new, but quickly became an Imperial in DayClan, "I have family in the other clans that can keep DayClan safe should SunClan retaliate. Renegade Regime and NightClan can protect us. I can guarantee each of you that, but they would never offer those trusted services to just anyone unless I were specifically in charge."
"Absolutely not," Burningsummer meowed striding forward and stopping at the front of the group. "You would simply be a puppet for a cat who was willing to kill her own kits." Burningsummer said coldly.
The ginger she cat turned to the other members of DayClan "I agreed that we should tolerate letting Flamingstar feed her ego as I thought perhaps it would be a boon."
She snorted, "Instead, Flamingstar's actions in that instance were thoughtless as while cats discussed crucial battle plans she made low blows at Vixenkismet who died saving my life and trying to save her daughters. Her actions were cruel as she beat up a young apprentice rather than work towards our objective;" Burningsummer's eyes flashed. "And monstrous as she tried to prevent kits that were her own children from escaping the fire in an effort to kill them."
"You may not have actually been abused Tigerlily, but your mother is no ally a cat should want." Burningsummer finished. "Not even you leading DayClan in that battle made her behave. So as long as you stand in as a representative for her, you'll bring nothing but trouble."
"That's the problem with DayClan." Karmacarnage spoke out, the orange tabby moved through the crowd of cats effortlessly, paying very little attention to those who seamlessly moved out of his way. "We're too focused on being everyone's friend rather than helping ourselves." His blue gaze bounced around the clearing, now meeting the gazes of his clan-mates. "If DayClan is to thrive we need to show the other clans that we're not a door mat they can wipe their feet on any time they feel like waltzing into our territory."
Gravelshell sat beside Leucisticcrow, her tail intertwined with his for comfort. He would never show it, but she knew her mate was probably a mess inside after his mother's death. It was all the tortoiseshell could do to show her support; in the little ways she knew that he would appreciate. When the subject of Glowstar's successor came up, the former leader of Waterclan gave a puzzled look. "Maybe it's just because I'm new to Dayclan," she meowed curiously. "But I was under the impression that the point of the Immortal Council was to train for filling the leader's place when they died? Wouldn't it make more sense for one of them to be chosen as the next leader?" If she was being completely honest, there was a small, selfish part of herself that wanted to volunteer for the position herself - to regain those nostalgic feelings of glory and responsibility that came with leading a clan. But realistically, she knew that even though she had lives left, Dayclan didn't know her, and didn't remember her other than being Yuccablossom's mother.
"And I'm not just asking because my own daughter's on the council; no offense, darling, but I believe more experienced leaders such as Fia Cendrillon or Goldenphantom are in a better position for a smooth transition of power."
Rubyflame nodded. "Gravelshell is right, this is ridiculous." The former immortal council member straightened up. "When I was a member of the Immortal Council we had to all lead as a group of leaders back when Glowstar disappeared... though this time... it is a permanent promotion." She said softly, her expression grim. "Thus I think any of the Immortal Council members should be the ones we pick from. And given the militant actions of our neighbors, and the," She glanced between Burningsummer and Tigerlily. "And the toxicity of another, I'd suggest we pick a leader from the four cats who have served under Glowstar faithfully."
"Yeah, but none of them stepped up to lead against SunClan," Mysteryleaf pointed out. "I'm just saying."
"That was cause Flamingstar demanded special treatment, in order to grandstand and be an overall useless furball." Cinnamonsavage said rolling his eyes. "So like, if we want more of that, vote Tigerlily."
"Tigerlily can't control her mother," Mysteryleaf said defensively.
"Then her promise is empty. She's asking us to choose her with a promise we already know is worth mud," Cinnamonsavage said. "You'd be better of making me leader, we'd do chicken nugget raids during leafbare. And my birth mother Commander Shule wouldn't be willing to snub DayClan to further snub me so like, if that's all you've got Tigerlily, I could top that."
"I was not a leader when I led you into battle, I was an equal, a warrior following orders. If I became leader that is what Flamingstar would see and respect me as. What I can say is that instead of asking me to control my mother, I should ask why neither of you stood up for your clanmate Vixenkismet when she was being berated. I gave you my respect, I gave you my army, I should be judged upon the promises I fulfilled not the shortcomings of my mothers behavior. I never said Flamingstar was going to be pleasant, but I did say she would give her support, which she granted us with NightClan's aid in battle."
Tigerlily stepped forward into the center of the gathering, it was like she was walking down a run way, the flow of her stride addictive to watch that it was almost disappointing when she stopped in front of the crowd. "As your leader I would ensure that the peaceful culture DayClan has worked for generations to maintain is upheld. However, should someone manipulative such as SunClan or a blatant criminal as Vixenkismet once was, walk into our lives I would be swift to cut them out from DayClan. I have nothing against the Immortal Council, but they do not have the connections I have in trade deals, military advancements, troop aid, and other resources from NightClan and Renegade Regime. Nor would I be able to give these amenities unless I were in charge. Simply put, I'm trusted between NightClan and Renegade Regime, with me we wouldn't have to move to Keepers Mansion for leafbare or worry about opposing forces without backup. I want DayClan to have the best opportunities possible." She had a sophisticated French accent, it was soothing yet held a sly demeanor in between its rhythms.
"That's a pile of badger dung if I've ever heard it." Igziq heckled back at the she-cat. She was relatively new to the Clan, but she knew leadership when she saw it, and Tigerlily didn't earn that trust from her. Tigerlily clearly had something else going on. "By 'my army', you meant your mother's army. You'll string us along it whatever your filthy mother decides to do next." Igziq had no idea who Flamingstar really was. It just seemed fitting to throw in there with all the hate around her. "If you really cared about this place, and I'm not saying that I give rat's nest about it, then you would make those connections work even if you weren't there to call your mother's shots."
"Thank you!" Burningsummer meowed flicking her tail to Igziq. "That is exactly what letting you take over will mean. Flamingstar stated herself, she doesn't make allies, she plants moles and takes over. We wouldn't be staying in the keepers mansion because we'd be likely second class citizens shivering in NightClan at best." She said curling her lip.
She turned to the DayClan cats. "DayClan has prided itself for as long as I've been alive as a clan that is open, warm, and as lively as any day of the year. Glowstar embodied the various feelings, the sheer life in all it's chaotic glory that can be felt on any day. It would be a disservice to her for us to follow those like Flamingstar and close off our borders." She glanced at Karmacarnage. "Or to chain ourselves to cats who have no interest in truly working together."
"NightClan is not the clan that once provided DayClan shelter seasons back when I lead it. When I offered you all a place to stay it was because I truly wanted to help." Burningsummer stressed. "Flamingstar is nothing like me, and sadly she trends towards traits that are undesirable in an ally, especially in such a trying time. She proved that during the battle on SunClan. And Tigerlily, your insistence on that being the bedrock of your efforts solidifies that you know you're just a puppet."
"Don't go singing your own praises Burningsummer," Rubyflame said sharply. "You did that to make up for mistakes that NightClan made against DayClan, I still remember the suffering inflicted upon us by SunClan thanks to your missteps."
Burningsummer winced, "Those missteps were made from inexperience at the time. And I am not arguing that I take Glowstar's place. But stating that it shouldn't be Tigerlily. Because she is just Flamingstar's pawn."
Knightrunner shook his head. "This is pointless, Tigerlily, you are a lovely nice cat with a lot of potential as a politician clearly but DayClan's chain of command is Glowstar and her immortal Council. Her successor must be from them."
"Then who would you all specifically choose to be leader?" Tigerlily asked, "I don't see anyone else adding anything to this discussion or stepping up."
"Well as others have stated, we should go with a cat from the Immortal Council," Illuminatedpath spoke up, "And Windchaser has seniority since Rubyflame had stepped down, so I say Windchaser as the Senior member has the right to the position." He glanced at his mate.
"I agree," Knightrunner meowed. "Windchaser is dependable, and I think she'd make a fine leader."
"Oh wow, the fast cats sticking together." Cinnamonsavage said with a snort rolling his eyes.
Knightrunner glared at Cinnamonsavage, "Well who would you nominate?"
"Well since Tigerlily can nominate herself, I'll nominate myself. You know a cat with connections, but can actually deliver on them if I wanted to." Cinnamonsavage said.
Knightrunner rolled his eyes shaking his head at the tom.
"I NOMINATE GOLDENPHANTOM!" Autumngossamer said quickly the moment Windchaser was nominated.
"Yeah Goldenphantom would be a good leader, she's enough of a pushover, but has a good enough heart to keep things traditional," Leucisticcrow thought aloud, "but in honor of my mom I'd vote for Tigerlily. Paying tribute with the most chaotic candidate, but not um," He glanced at Cinnamonsavage, "Annoying. Is what she'd want."

Fallfling sat off by herself, tail curled around her paws with Sprout poking her head up over her tail. She was still in denial, even though everyone seemed so quick to want to replace Glowstar. Yes there had been a corpse, and yes there had been witnessess... but she just couldn't come to terms with that fact that she was gone. It didn't seem real, all this arguing was doing was making her retreat further and further inwards. Glowstar never even got the chance to raise a ferret pup, and she had promised... She looked down at sprout who would be having her first litter of pups soon, the memory of that day nearly bringing tears to her eyes. She wouldn't even get to meet... no she wasn't even going to finish that thought.
Fallfling stood suddenly, her ferret clamoring onto her shoulder "DO YOU ALL EVEN HERE YOURSELVES" she pushed her self forward glaring at arguing cats "The clan hasn't even had time to properly mourn for Glowstar, and here you all are arguing like spoiled children over who should take the throne. You really should be ashamed of yourselves" she shook her head slowly "We shouldn't be attacking one another like this. Everyone has the right to their own opinions, but that doesn't mean you should go waving them around out in the open. Make your nominations, and then give each candidate a chance to speak to try and win over supporters without constant interruptions and critisims"

"I think Burningsummer should lead!" Nightshadeintuition piped up, offering a smile in the general direction of the former leader. "She already knows the ins and outs." His voice was almost dreamy as he considered the idea.
"Rubyflame could just take over. She led DayClan once." Fang commented, though it was hard to tell if this was an actual nomination, or the tom was simply talking in his sleep, as he turned to his other side and began to snore.
Vixenkismet had been through hell and back since this invasion started. She hadn't had the chance to really look for Littlestar, there was the whole situation with Tinymutiny and Oakshade, and now Glowstar, her fiance, dead. "You act like I need someone to speak for me, Tigerlily." The fox furred feline stepped out of the shadows. Her expression was unusually grim, eyes red and overlaid with a heaviness that was unusual for the ex-Priestess. Even so, she held her head high, and there was a dark fire behind her eyes. She would destroy Bloodystar if it killed her. "This clan has plenty of allies in the Regime and the League without needing NightClan to help. You're not special on the Regime front. DayClan has long since been their allies, and Shule isn't just going to turn her back on us because Glowstar isn't here." She had to pause at the leader's name, sucking in a sudden breath, her gaze flitting to Fallfling as the younger she-cat spoke, offering a nod as she pulled the hope feather from her ear. "I nominate myself. I know I'm not well liked, and for good reason, but I promised Glowstar I'd do my best for her. My help has been extremely valuable in fighting against SunClan, and if I lead DayClan, then I swear I will be a leader you can be proud of, not one you will fear. She gave me this feather, so that I'd always have her hope to carry me, and it's with her hope that I want to see this clan thrive." She had more to say, but for the moment, she'd said more than enough, and sat down, the hope feather just barely under her paw as she held it pushed out slightly from herself, and towards the DayClan cats.
Burningsummer's pelt grew hot as her mate nominated her. "I appreciate the nomination Nightshadeintuition." She said softly, straightening up at his words. She turned her head as Vixenkismet spoke up, and she nodded along.
Rubyflame though let out a purr, at first of amusement at Fang nominating her. Though it died as Vixenkismet spoke up her head snapping towards the former SunClan high priestess.
Oh, absolutely not.
Immediately the ginger and white she cat rose to her paws. "I accept the nomination! As Fang said, I led before, and if cats feel unsure of the current council taking over for whatever reason. I am more than willing to come out of retirement to keep DayClan following the vision Glowstar laid before it."
Yuccablossom's voice was strong an authoritative, but it did not match the speaker. Her eyes were red and watery, her fur stuck out at odd angles, she looked terrible. Even still, she held her head up high, she would be sure that all of her clanmates knew that even in her darkest moments, Yuccablossom would not back down without her voice being heard.
"Glowstar left no questions as to what her ideal form of government is. She must have intentionally left succession vague so that, when her time did come, we would realize that on our own. We have a self-enforced honor and punishment system in place in the form of classes... All cats, no matter where they come from or what they have done in their past, are welcome freedom and equality, no questions asked... We are basically already here. Anarchy is the answer."
Illuminatedpath squinted as Yuccablossom spoke. The tom, liked to think he was pretty smart but he found himself tilting his head from one to side to the next. Trying to fully parse through what she was getting at. "We... can't not have someone in charge. That'd be pandemonium." He meowed.
"Yuccablossom it's a nice idea..." Soaringbird began awkwardly. "But, we have a few too many..." She glanced towards her sister, Tigerlily and Vixenkismet and offered a weak smile. "Strong and hardheaded personalities that need a guiding paw every now and then to keep the peace. Otherwise we'd just find ourselves with tiny splinter groups within the clan."
"Me? Annoying? Whatever would make you think that Unc-" Cinnamonsavage trailed off, frowning softly. "I was about to call you uncle, because you're too old to consider brother really." He muttered eyeing Leucisticcrow.
"Oh dear Starclan help me..." Gravelshell groaned at her daughter's proclamation, covering her face with her paw for a few moments before slamming it into the ground. "Yuccablossom, now is not the time for your anarchy speech. If you want to nominate yourself, and you win, then you can make the government of Dayclan into whatever your precious heart desires. As for the time being..." She trailed off, casting a cold glare at Vixenwhatever. Yeah, that's not gonna happen on her watch.
"I nominate my mate, Leucisticcrow. He's both a strong and crafty fighter who has worked closely with a number of leaders, past and present. I think he'd be more than capable of filling the pawprints left behind by Glowstar."
"Soaringbird, we have a class system! It's informal, but---" Yuccablossom began but her mother cut her off as she so often did. She turned to face Gravelshell with fire in her eyes, "Nominating myself defeats the whole point of the system, mom! Anarchy does not have any leaders. It's what Glowstar would have wanted. If she saw all of us squabbling about who the next leader was going to be, she'd... she'd..." Tears began to flow, not out of frustration or annoyance but genuine sadness. She melted into her mother's side and fell silent. Yuccablossom was trying her best to be strong but it was too soon, she needed more time.

Snowthorn shook his head as a number of cats spoke against Tigerlily. From his perspective, the bengal’s words made plenty of sense and she had done just fine leading DayClan into battle. Still, if this was coming down to a vote, the more names thrown into things would hopefully help split the numbers in her favor. “It’s not a leader’s job to control another. A leader’s job is to take care of their clan and Tigerlily has already proven herself capable of that. The fact that voting her would guarantee an alliance with NightClan and the Regime is just a plus. Clearly, she is a good candidate for the job and an Imperial, which is what a leader should be,” Snowthorn said with a pointed look at Gravelshell.
