Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"No," Cradlegrave murmured, "and I'm glad I never did." He'd heard of animals like these, through old stories handed down by elders and warnings to stay clear of Twoleg monsters that drove near their settlement sometimes, supposedly carrying animals like these inside. He was told they were called chimps, and the only thing he'd been told beyond that was to run the hell away if he ever saw one in the wild.
It wasn't useful knowledge to have when the damn thing had already spotted them. It was a moot point, anyway. Cradlegrave hadn't joined SwiftClan just so that he could run away when the Clan faced danger. "Why me?" he muttered, before unsheathing his claws. "Frenzy, be ready to lose a few tufts of fur," he said, and leapt forward into battle.
The chimp was content with her meal, and if her victims fled, perhaps mercy would be shown. But as the tiny fluffy one charged her way, she only saw a threat. A very tiny threat, but an angry one. It would go down as easily as the last. She launched herself forward and lifted up one arm off the ground, snatching at Cradlegrave and hoisting him into the air, where he dangled from his scruff. Her mouth snapped open and shut, debating if this was more food.
"CHRIST," Cradlegrave said as he was hauled into the air by a muscular chimp arm. Well, that went pretty much as I should've expected it to. "Frenzy!" he hissed. "Either do something or run away before this thing decides it's done with me!"
Frenzy's eyes widened as the chimp ripped Cradlegrave into the air. This was a good time to run, if ever Frenzy had seen one. Cradlegrave could... handle himself, right? She had almost convinced herself to high tail it out of there when the image of the corpse flashed back in her mind.
"Well, mom, dad, if I don't come home tonight, know that this chimp ate me." Her voice was slightly shaky, and despite the fact that she intended to make it sound like a joke about how she didn't have parents, she sounded scared. "Here goes nothing," she muttered, before flinging herself at the chimp as hard as possible. It wasn't the .... most effective of attack, making herself into a cat battering ram, but at least it dislodged the chimp's grasp just enough to let Cradlegrave slip to the ground.
The ineffective blow caught her by surprise, and the injury to her pride was far greater than her body. She felt the cat's body slipping from her grasp and screeched, clenching her fist and jerking her hand back as she fully intended to use the warrior's body as a club to beat his friend. But he slid harmlessly between her fingers and hit the ground before she had the chance. Her meal was escaping!
The chimp screamed again and lunged for Frenzy, her massive feet aimed to hold the she-cat down by the torso as she raised her arms for a great and terrible blow.
Cradlegrave stifled a grunt of pain between clenched teeth as he hit the ground, hard enough that he could almost feel the reverb in his bones from the sheer force. He staggered to his paws and caught sight of the creature raising its arms over Frenzy. “Look out!” He tried throwing himself in the way, but he was still dazed from his fall only a few seconds prior; instead careened into the chimp’s side, right in that weird part on the side of your stomach where if someone pokes you there it really tickles for some reason and no one knows why but they still use the knowledge against you and come up behind you during silent reading at primary school and poke you there and you get in trouble.
Cleaver @ian maybe we can just use the 'it was all a dream' excuse for this thread
