FaithJadiepLuto and the rest of the demonic peeps. it's time for maggotkit to learn a lesson His name is Tundrakit.
Why did they keep telling him it was not?
He was new to the group of siblings, still trying to figure out his place moons after leaving Bluejay in the prison. The rest were all quiet, silently rebelling where they could. A few went with the flow, and one of them even stood up for Winterclan. Tundrakit didn't get it. But all he had was his bravery, and that name. So those were the things he had to cherish. Every day felt like a burden, another beating or starvation or whatever. They got the point. Tundrakit waited anxiously for the day he could become an apprentice, so at least he could get away somehow. But knowing Winterclan, it would be taken from him too.
"Who are you?" A voice squeaked. Tundrakit had hardly been paying attention, thinking about whatever as he gazed out at the camp. In front of him suddenly was a much smaller kit, with wide baby blue eyes and white fur that rivaled his. She was drenched in the smell of milk and warmth, curiosity only leading her a few steps away from the nursery. They sat there in silence, staring at each other. She was one of Dottymask's, he could tell. And he initially turned away to not give her an answer. But then he heard a sniffle, and turned back in time to see the tears popping up from the sides of her eyes.
"I-I'm Tundrakit." He answered in a panic, barely thinking.
"No you're not." Rosemarykit purred, pressing up against Heavenlykit's side. The mostly white she-cat looked like a mini-me of Dottymask but where her mother was black she was gray. Those eyes of hers, though, those belonged to Rosemarykit alone, so dark gray that one could only see her pupils in the brightest of lights. She smirked as she pressed toward the older kit who was somehow not all that much bigger than she was, "Mommy and daddy call him Maggotkit, cuz all he does is crawl around like one and cry for food."
Soullesskit, ever the optimist, watch the two younger kittens approach her brother and hoped that they wouldn't do anything. She had suffered the brunt of the abuse like her other siblings, and Maggotkit was yet to understand what life here was like. Still, she remained with earshot. She was glad she did. I-I'm Tundrakit. The silver grey tabby rose to her paws. As much as he was, he couldn't be. She sprang to her paws and rushed to her brother's side. As she neared she lay her tail across his back and whispered into his ear. "Just say you're Maggotkit. I know who you really are. Your real family knows you really are. They don't." Unlike him, she was quite large for her age, so she dwarfed all the other kits around her. "Please. Just say it."
"Soullesskit..." Sinfulkit warned. All the blue-black she-cat felt pity for Maggotkit but he, like the rest of them, would have to figure it out on his own. Soullesskit "helping" would only make it worse for the both of them. She'd been around Dottymask's kits enough to know that they were little rats, "..." She sighed and wrapped her tail tightly around her paws. It was too late now, her sister had already interjected herself. Why? Sinfulkit had long ago given up on trying to fit into WinterClan. There was nothing left here for her or any of her siblings. They'd be better off sitting down, shutting up and waiting for an opportunity to escape.
"Listen to your sissy." Rosemarykit snickered, cocking her head sideways at Maggotkit, her tail straight in the air and wavering slightly. Oh my goodness was she cute and adorable. Plump and well-fed, groomed to perfection, fluffy, doll-like. A perfect WinterClan princess. It was quite the contrast, "Maggotkit."
Dottymask waited, because she wanted to believe that Tundrakit would correct himself, but he was taking too long. That was enough of a mistake to make her march over to the tiny tom kit, "How dare you use a proper clan name, you are Maggotkit. You are a demon, you have a demon name," She said sharply before giving a gentle sigh, "But that name comes naturally to you doesn't it? You want to be a good boy and say Maggotkit," her paw gently moved around his side, pulling him into her, "But you can't stop the instinct to say your false name. The one you didn't earn or deserve," She said tenderly, her paw holding up his chin in a nurturing fashion. "Don't worry, love, mama will help you so you'll always say your demon name," She promised, her paw gently stroking the back of her head before stopping. Her claws unsheathing as they dug into the back of his head, holding him in place.
Her head snapped to Soullesskit, "Be mommies little helper and grab a fat stick and then shove it in your brothers mouth. I don't want to disturb the rest of the clan with Maggotkit's high pitch crying." Her indigo colored eyes narrowed harshly at Soullesskit to let her know that if she disobeyed there would be consequences she couldn't even imagine.

"When has that happened?" Heavenlykit looked over at Rosemarykit, a glint of confusion in her eyes. She was just the same as Rosemarykit. All puffed up and adored, smaller but already chubbier than Maggotkit. Points of grey were starting to appear on her nose and feet like shadows. Maybe she hadn't adapted to the rat ways yet, or was really that clueless. But she was genuinely confused by the statements thrown around.
Tundrakit instinctively jumped back when the other appeared, a sort of signature squeak he didn't even realize he had coming out. His first instinct was to rebel. Who wouldn't? The more they push you in one direction, the more you want to go the other way. It was a certainty in life. He opened his mouth to say something back when Soullesskit approached him, her tail more like a weight on his back than comfort.
Just say you're Maggotkit. I know who you really are. Your real family knows you really are. They don't. Please, just say it.
Real family? Who was that even more? It seemed all he did was bring these supposed siblings of his trouble. Most avoided him like the plague anyway. His real family was still locked up in that prison. It made his blood boil. He wanted to be brave. That was what he had. All he had. But they kept telling him not to. What else was he supposed to do? What else could he be? Maggotkit's head swum. It was all too much to process. He wished later he did faster.
"F-Fine I'm---" He gave in, but a split second too late. Dottymask approached and he quickly hardened back up. Spite kept his mouth shut. Maggotkit held some fear of Dottymask, but since they seemed to just be waiting for him to die, he was more prone to watching his other siblings get punished than have his own. It was the only reason he was able to keep steady eye contact with her, a gaze that didn't challenge but didn't flinch at those words. That sort of faux motherly affection just made him more frustrated, fighting against her pull or pulling away from her paws. He scoffed at her strokes at the back of his head. "How is the name the literal demon Bluejay gave me not a demon name but the one the mighty Wintrystar did? Sounds like you've got your demons mixed up--"
Maggotkit didn't get to finish as he was shoved into the ground. A couple gasps and a sharp squeak were all he could hear. His limbs flailed on instinct, but had no way of getting Dotty's paw off of his head. He was pushed off center, one side of his face more pushed into the ground than the other. One eye was pressed into the snow, the other could only see all white. Of course he squeaked, it hurt. Somewhere above him, he heard the first kit plea. "Momma, it's okay. He didn't mean it, you can let him go." She sounded like she was on the verge of tears.
She hadn't noticed Dottymask watching from the sidelines. It made things a hundred times worse. Soullesskit could handle the little demons, but the devil herself? It was beyond her. Even if she didn't get the stick, Maggotkit would get punished, and would be as well. The stick would help Maggotkit and herself. She nodded in defeat and stepped away from Maggotkit. She winced as his screeches piercing the air as she dug in the snow for a stick. One day, she would get payback for her siblings, but that was after she became a warrior. She hissed under her breath as she picked up the smoothest, thickest one should could find.
She walked back over to her brother and shivered as squirmed. She kneeled down and placed the stick in front of his mouth. She then leaned over and whispered into his ear. "You'll survive. I know you can." Soullesskit pulled away and took a few steps back. As much as she hated this, she had to see it. She started to pile some snow together for Maggotkit at her paws. He'd need it.
At the sound of Heavenlykit's voice, Soullesskit's gilded green eyes shot daggers at her. Unbridled hatred burned in them, the same type of hatred that she held for her foster parents.
Dottymask turned her gaze on Heavenlykit, but there was no emotion there for her, just a hollow expression, "You're a silver blood, someone who comes from a good family with a pure WinterClan bloodline. Silver doesn't break easy and neither will you," She said sternly, but traded it for a tire expression, "You'll grow out of this won't you?" But Dottymask had a doubtful expression, Heavenlykit was too kind, much like she was as a kit. Unfortunately for her daughter she would have to learn the same hard lessons if she continued to behave that way.
Instead she turned her attention to Soullesskit, she had done as she was told, even backing up from her brother. Good.
"You're being such a good girl lately, thank-you Soullesskit," Dottymask purred.
She pressed her paw into his shoulder, flattening his arms to lay uncomfortably on either side of him. Unsheathing her claws she traced them along his back once before lashing them down the center of his back once before they blurred into four more times. A light correction really, but it was hard to teach him a lesson when she hadn't yet experimented with his resilience. The last thing she wanted was to make him a blubbering useless kit.
"Stand up and know the next time you say Tundrakit I double the lashing," She promised him. Turning her head Dottymask noticed what Soullesskit did, that was part of the humility of it, having to lie on their backs in front of the whole camp whimpering about their injuries. "I hope you know I love you."

Maggotkit took a deep breath. Well, as deep as he could half-buried in the snow. His comment didn't even seem to phase Dottymask. That upset him more than anything. Having a stick pushed against his teeth, he could only blink his thanks to Soullesskit before gripping onto the end of it. Smooth and maybe a bit too big for him, he could only bite down and wait.
Heavenlykit didn't understand. He just made a mistake. She got a stern look and he got his face shoved into the ground. It didn't seem right. She couldn't stop the tears that pricked at the corner of her eyes, able to cry at the drop of a hat. Especially with conflict involved.
The waiting was the worst part, the paws against his sides that pushed him around. Even the light tracing against his back made his shake. He didn't wanna scream, didn't wanna be known as the kit with the high pitched scream. So when the claws sunk into his skin, he bit down on the stick hard. Maggotkit shook to where it made the cuts more jagged. Blood poured from his back, sucking the breath out of him, staining his long white coat. It hurt so bad. First, it warmed him, but the pain soon just froze him.
It took Maggotkit a moment to get his paws underneath him. To pull himself up as his body begged him not to. It hurt so bad. He wished he was back in the prison, back with Bluejay. Being brave wasn't worth it, beating Howlingnight wasn't worth it. He wanted to give up. That and the pain numbed his nerves as he stood tall. It was irrational to even say anything at this point, but Maggotkit wasn't thinking straight anyway. "I know you don't."
The impact sounded like thunder as Dottymask whirled her paw around striking Maggotkit hard into the rock beneath their paws. "That's enough Maggot! You are Maggotkit, that is who you are," She said walking over him her voice wasn't a growl like someone would expect, but sounded desperate and exhausted. "Your mother may have named you Tundra while you were a prisoner, but you are a member of WinterClan now. You are Maggotkit, you will answer to Maggotkit, you will thank Wintrystar like you mean it for the name, and you will accept me as your mother," She said, both her paws moving around the side of Maggotkit's face, pressing his wounded back harder into the ground. "Now say it, say your name is Maggotkit," This time she was losing it, a hiss escaping her throat. She hadn't even noticed how messed up his eye was thanks to her. She was seconds away from doing worse if he didn't repeat back what she wanted to hear.

Maggotkit flew, unable to even slow the velocity of being thrown. He rolled, and when he finally came to a still, something wasn't right. A shard of rock, barely the size of a pebble, had wedged itself into the corner of his left eye. Maggotkit couldn't even move it without the rock scraping against his eye. Frantically, he began to claw at it. To try and get it out. It hurt. It pushed his eye upwards, enough for it to crush into his skull. Maggotkit couldn't see out of it, panic and fear taking him over. The words Dottymask spoke were like a haze over him, something he didn't notice till she was on him again. Flipping him over and slamming his back into the rock. A gasp and a squeal left him, one so primal it was animalistic. He tried to reach back with his back paws to push her off, but it only dug him into the rock more. One of his paws was still on his eye, trying to get the rock out. But Dottymask's pushing on his face had made him lose his grip on it. "Okay. Okay. My name is Maggotkit." He screamed, every nerve in his body alight.
Maggotkit's tumble had a visible effect on Rosemarykit. She'd been around cruelty her whole life but she'd never seen it taken to such an extreme before. At first she was afraid but as she watched her mother work she began to feel a twisted since of pride in Dottymask's actions. She was confident, decisive, poised. And Rosemarykit had been born and bred to live up to that same idea. Although her paws were trembling, she was smiling, "Mommy is so strong and smart, I hope I'm just like her when I grow up!"
Sinfulkit tired to look away and ignore it. This kind of punishment was normal for the demons, she'd seen it and received it more times than she cared to remember. But something about watching Maggotkit's soul break lit a fire in her heart that she had long thought snuffed. Why couldn't he be called Tundrakit? It was just a name. For a Clan that ripped on SunClan so much for forcing new members to give up their birth names to be a full member, it seemed hypocritical for WinterClan to employ the same dirty trick to control its members, too. She stood up and glared at Dottymask in defiance. One more scratch. She told herself. Just one more scratch on Tundrakit's pelt and I'll kill her.
Dottymask's claws reached out for his face like scythes, but instead cupped around his chin, "that's my good boy," She said quietly kissing him on the forehead. "Mamas going to keep you safe from yourself so you'll never have to think again." She said with an eerie playfulness as she bopped him on the nose. She turned with a cold expression to Sinfulkit, "Clean this up." She said, her tone drastically different with Sinfulkit, there was a sternness. She loved Sinfulkit, but she was beginning to understand that some of her children needed more discipline from her. If she didn't start being harsh with her then she could wind up like her mother. She could see the rage in her daughters eyes, the wish for her to be dead. She saved Maggotkit from himself, but she hoped she could save Sinfulkit someday too.
Dottymask walked out of the den leaving her kits with the mess.
"His eye isn't looking too well, Silverfury, I'm worried," Dottymask said, leaning into the strong build of her mate. Maggotkit's injury seemed to be getting infected, she wasn't quite sure what to do about it, especially when Wintrystar didn't want her her demonic children taking any herbs or crystals from the witches den, which meant at home remedies.
Sinfulkit didn't move an inch until Dottymask left the den. She wanted to ignore her mother's words, take her stance as the real rebel, but the Queen seemed to always be one step ahead of her. The task assigned was one she would have done anyway. She padded over to Maggotkit and helped him back to his paws, then began to help clean him up.
"Maggotkit has always been the weakest one of the demons. It's no surprise to me that a little scratch has festered so much," Silverfury replied, twining his tail with Dottymask's. He wasn't exactly the most affectionate tom but he did have his moments. It was odd that one of those moments was when the couple were talking about a suffering kit, though, "I suppose we should probably do something about it before the infection spreads to his other eye..." He gently nudged Dottymask, then got to his feet, "... You can stay here if you want, it won't take long."

And like that, it was over. His muscles ached, any ripples of pain only making more. Her words terrified Maggotkit. To never think again. It made his stomach turn. He was covering his eye with his paw still, each blink only making more tears. His paw only relaxed once she left, and he let out a sigh. Of what, he wasn't sure. Sinfulkit appeared in his peripheral, and he took the help. Muttering a "thank you.", he sat still to let her help. But he kept lifting his paw and rubbing the back of it on his eye. It didn't look as bad then. But several days had passed since his punishment and Maggotkit's eye only got worse. The rock must have went behind his eye or something. No matter how much he clawed or budged at the skin, it wouldn't move. At first, he couldn't sleep, all too focused on the pressure. But now he was used to it. Still walked around like a zombie though. The left side of his face was coated with tears, not out of pain or sadness but just trying to relieve the pressure. The socket had swollen, the thin white fur doing nothing to hide it. Puss and discharge clouded his vision, not that he could really see out of it anymore.
He was in a panic. He'd never experienced anything like it. His vision was impaired. He kept tripping over things or running into cats. Maggotkit had tried to sneak to the witch's den, but he was either found or rejected. It itched so badly, the fur on his face now patchy and fresh wounds danced around his eye. The only thing that gave him some comfort was covering it with snow, so that's what he did. Maggotkit laid on his left side, right side heaving as his ribs showed. No one spoke to him, his siblings must have been mad at him. He wanted to see Bluejay so desperately, he could cry. But he had no more tears.
Dottymask purred to her mate, "You always know what to do, I know I can trust you to make him better." She said licking him twice across the muzzle. Getting up herself she walked over to Maggotkit, "Maggotkit, be a good boy and behave for Silverfury, he's going to help you okay?" She said, but held her paw out to him, "You've been a real trooper, so you can take my paw and squeeze and claw it as much as you need to, I'll be right by your side," She promised licking the top of his forehead, "And after you can have a mouse all to yourself for being so brave."

Maggotkit's good eye watched as Dottymask approached him. His paws itched with his instinct to run, but he knew he wouldn't get anywhere. He'd probably run into the side of a den or a warrior or something. At Silverfury helping him, Maggotkit's expression turned to skepticism. What had Silverfury done besides laze around and be a jerk? It'd be better if he went to Earlybloom or Chestnutpaw or even Snowbunny.
But then Dottymask said the magic word. Brave. It made his good eye twinkle. He could be brave, and this time without getting his back torn up. "Brave. Really?" He asked hopefully, wonder in his tone.
Seeing as his mate was being gentle with Maggotkit, Silverfury decided to mirror her behavior. It wasn't like the little demon was being insubordinate, he was listening and doing as directed, he deserved a reward for that. So, instead of knocking the kit to the ground with his paw, the silver tom picked him up by his scruff and gently laid him on his side, the bad eye naturally being the one facing the sky, "Do your best not to squirm."
Then, in one swift motion, dug a single claw directly into Maggotkit's eyeball.
Silverfury had large paws which made it especially tricky for him to get a grip of it. After all, the eye was about the same size as just one of his toes. So, after digging and twisting for a few minutes, he was forced to press inward, the goal being to make the eye to pop out due to the cavity being occupied by his phalange. Silverfury growled as Maggotkit inevitably began to wriggle and placed his free paw on the side of his face to hold him still while he worked. Now that the eye socket was receiving pressure from two different sides, the eye finally gave up its resistance and presently dangled from the kit's face, tethered by a only its optic nerve.
"Tricky thing," Silverfury said as he took one dagger-like claw and severed the connection. The eyeball fell to the ground and bounced a couple times before rolling toward Dottymask's paw and resting there. Finished, Silverfury wiped the blood off his paw against the kitten's fur, then released the grip he had on his head and stepped away.

[WARNING: MILD GORE, EYE TRAUMA]
"Brave..." Dottymask didn't answer, not nearly fast enough until Silverfury was staring him down, But Maggotkit clung to that one word. Brave. He was gonna be brave. He still couldn't meet Silverfury's gaze, reflexively staring down at his paws. He could put up with Dottymask, though the scars burned into his back said otherwise. But her mate... he could snap him like a twig. The only time he seemed to take Howlingnight's advice of laying low was when it was convenient for him. Maggotkit went lax in Silverfury's grip as he was laid on his other side. He hadn't been able to see out of his bad eye for a few days now, the eyelids and infection acting like a veil that only showed him whiteness. But it was his only contact with the lit world. It almost gave him some hope that they didn't move far, let an naïve part of him believe it wouldn't be that bad.
That was until Silverfury's claw sank into his eye. Not entirely, but he could feet the tip knocking at the back of his eye. He didn't know what he expected, but it wasn't being able to see right now. The world in it's white overlay now shifted to grey as the tom's claw and toe began pushing against his eye from the back forward. For a few fleeting moments, he laid in shock as to what was happening, what he felt. Like he really couldn't believe it. His vision only got cloudier as the shock came and went, letting panic take over. There was no sedation, no painkillers, he didn't expect any. He was a demon. And he was still weak. But he fought with everything in him, nothing able to tame the adrenaline other than the paws holding him down. Maggotkit could only claw at Silverfury's wispy fur, the snow surrounding them or at the paw Dottymask had outstretched. He probably couldn't even break their skin, but he tried. And he hated himself for it.
Silverfury was a poor choice. He could barely maneuver the eye to help relieve the pressure, only amplifying it as Maggotkit threatened to scream. A part of him remembered when this all happened, and immediately fearing for his other eye, he bit down on his free paw to muffle his screams. He couldn't even feel the pain in his paw, completely taken by the pressure and pain in his eye getting stronger as blood and tears slipped into the slowly opening socket. The worst part was that he could still see out of it, having no choice but to watch the warrior get more and more frustrated.
And then, he couldn't take any more. Maggotkit jerked his head back at the right moment, his eye springing free as he panted. He instinctively blinked, but could only fee his eyelids shut around the optic nerve. It was all white in that eye, and then black. Immediately. Without a second thought. Like a television going out in a power outage. One second, the picture of the ground was there. Grainy, impossible to recognize, but it was there. The next, it was gone, only his intact eye giving him any input of the world. Maggotkit was exhausted, pain and relief trickling together as he let go of his paw. It hurt for the first time when he flexed it. He pulled himself up slightly, letting his other eye take in the world. Maggot couldn't let himself look at the gore on that side, but he glanced down at his injured paw. The rock that caused all the problems fell out of the socket when his head moved, it glistened in the blood and bile.
