Jetfire
SunClan Warrior
The Sweet
[Trigger warning, Suicide/gore] Jetfire watched listlessly and Bloodystar left the den they shared to head out to the ceremony springs, leaving only a guard outside the main entrance. Even her younger siblings that she had been nursing had gone to participate in the ceremony leaving her on her own. She waited until she was sure they were gone, before quietly making her way over to one corner of the den. She moved the moss aside, then a stone, pulling out a single leaf and laying it between her paws.
Last time she had managed to stop herself, but the glimmer of hope that she had felt that day was gone. Her only solace had been taken away from her, and each day things were becoming more bleak. As her kitting neared, Bloodyrondo had begun feeding her fertility herbs stuffed within her food. She pretended not to notice or understand his intentions, but it was clear enough. As soon as the kits she carried was born, they would be given to another queen so she could bear his kits... Jetfire couldn't... wouldn't allow that to happen.
A tear slid down her cheek, as she gently unwrapped the leaf to reveal the bright red paste within. It was a mixture of deathberries, and a twoleg poison. She had prepared it in advance, hiding it so that when there was no hope left left to her that she could end her own life. It was a small comfort, knowing that even as her life spiraled beyond her control that at least in death she would be able to maintain her dignity. This was the only option left to her, the only way to keep herself and her kits away from Bloodystar for good. She had no fear of death now, only of continuing to live.
Her tail curled tightly around her swollen belly 'please forgive me little ones. I love you, I love you more than anything else in this world... I love you to much to bring into this cruel world only to suffer at his paws" she whispered, cooing softly before lowering her muzzle and lapping at the herbs. The acrid taste filling her mouth, her throat nearly instantly tightening as she tried to keep her self quiet. Despite her attempts, her paw shot up to her throat as she began to cough speckles of blood scattering across the nest before her. She gasped for hear, falling from her nest with a loud thud her claws digging into her throat as her lungs burned for air. The guard stationed out side would surely hear, but it was to late to stop it from happening now.
Discordantmelody heard her charge's coughing and made her way into the High Priest's den investigate. She was humming and wearing a bemused smile as she laid eyes on Jetfire, but almost immediately her expression faltered. Was that the scent of... deathberries? And something else, something more acrid and foreign, which, given her history in the League, she recognized immediately as a twolegplace poison.
"Damn it."
Discordantmelody really had no idea what to do, but being the daughter of two healers and common sense told her that Jetfire needed to throw up. Yarrow... yarrow... She rummaged around her older brother's stores until she found the yellow-white herb, then forcefully shoved it down the dying queen's throat, making sure she swallowed it before giving her a wack on the head, "Coward."
She didn't have time to sit around and wait for Jetfire to upchuck. This was just first aid, she needed a real doctor. The mostly black-clad calico exited the den without looking back and belted it toward the Ceremony Springs.
(Don't worry about making your next reply long or anything, I just want to know how she reacts to the treatment before I bring in Bloody :3)

Who knew it hurt so much to die? Even though this was what she wanted, panic began to set in as her body began to shut down. Her claws leaving deep intentions in her throat as she struggled to get air as she thrashed back and forth. All her muscles began to contract on release over and over. She could feel the kits inside of of her flailing to, trying to escape her womb. Completely unaware of what was going on around her, suddenly her jaws were pried open and something stuffed Inside. Her throat convulsed around the yarrow, her gums turning white from lack of oxygen before her head was slapped forward into the stone floor. Just as the she-cat left to fetch a healer, she threw up the entire piece of of yarrow, oozing dark red blood
The longest five minutes of Jefire's life ticked by before hurried pawsteps echoed into the High Priest and Priest Promised's shared chambers.
"Jetfire!"
The same bitter sweet scent overwhelmed Bloodystar's senses, that and the faint odor of stomach acid from her spittle. The only poisoned cat that he had ever treated was Discordantmelody after Foxbane attacked her, but those symptoms had been totally different, and even then they were mean to immobolize, not kill. This was an entirely different demon.
"It's not just deathberries... she mixed something from twolegplace in it. I'm impressed she even got her paws on it... and I've never heard of anyone surviving it."
Dicsordantmelody's words haunted him as he did pick up the faint scent of something... other. He didn't have time to stand there dumbfounded, though. Seconds mattered and if he didn't act fast she would stand no chance, and that was assuming that she had a chance at all. Bloodystar noted that she had immediately coughed up the yarrow that Discordantmelody had hurriedly administered but hardly anything else. That was a bad sign.
"Someone hold her down." He command and a couple cats, including a winded Discordantmeldoy, moved in to restrain the flaying queen. The first thing Bloodystar did was smear mouse bile beneath her nose to induce vomiting them disappeared into his stores to make some sort of herb mixture. Stinging nettle, snakeroot... if yarrow would do work that was all that he thought could... and soon he returned with a mixture that he forced down her throat, same as the yarrow from earlier.
"Don't you dare die on me." It sounded more like a command than the sorrow of a heart-broken mate, but then again, no one really knows how they would act in such a situation until they were in it.

By the time Bloodystar returned, the queen was cool to the touch laying in a puddle of blood and vomit. Blood was slowly trickling out of the corners of her mouth, her flailing becoming weaker by the moment. Her gums had become pale and ghostly, as the mouse bile was smeared under her nose. Even as the cats held down her limbs, she still thrashed about making it difficult for Bloodystar to get the herbs down her throat. It wasn’t that she was fighting, but the pain and had driven her body to act on its own accord slashing and biting at anyone that got near. The herb mixture began to take affect, as a thick red paste began to appear in the blood she had thrown up with bits of herbs and stomach acid. The thrashing slowly began to slow, her breathing improving slightly. For a few moments it seemed as if it was starting to work, as her head slumped downwards. The death berries has been expelled.
However this holding her down would have a difficult time missing the tell tell rippling of her sides, her body trying To expel her newborns before the poison could take their lives to.
As soon as Jetfire's movements slowed down and her breathing started to become more regular, Bloodystar began to relax, but not for long. Her rippling sides were more than just an aftershock of a seizure.
The poison had triggered her labor.
She was close to full term, but that didn't change the fact that her body was going to go into shock soon if it hadn't already and she was not even fully conscious. Jetfire was in no condition to deliver kits and Bloodystar himself had only done this a handful of times. Even then he had had help, Mistyrose and Littlecrow never far, but here he was on his own and this time with a queen who was in critical condition at the start.
Could he even do this?
Well, he'd have to, he had no lifelines left and neither did she. Waving away his assistants, he began to create an herb mixture that he hoped would rouse her and give her energy, but even as he started it he knew it wouldn't work. The herbs he had fed Jetfire at the start were powerful and would insure that she would not keep them down long enough for any effect. Letting out a stressed howl, Bloodystar threw his mixture across the room and paced.
If her body was contracting, so long as there were no complications, her instincts may be well get her through this. She did not have a lot of kits and her slim frame made it easy to monitor her. But... that left room for a lot of what ifs...

Jetfire's eyes rolled back into her head, her body started to thrash once more. Her head began to bang against the stone floor repeatedly, sending blood splatters to those unfortunate enough to be standing nearby as her body began to seize. Blood trickled from her mouth as she bit into her tongue, The effects of the twoleg poison starting to take effect Her body temperature was falling quickly her muscles spasming to try and warm themselves.
Bloodystar's eyes widened as he saw Jetfire's condition plummet. The deathberries had come out and law crushed on the den floor, smeared across her, his pelt, the nest... but Discordantmelody had mentioned a twoleg poison. That was something he knew nothing about, a foreign element, and it wasn't done with her.
He'd done all he knew how to do... and it wasn't enough.
He watched as another contraction shook Jetfire's sides. She was usually such a slim, short-furred she-cat, it was all to easy to see where the kits were and even how they were moving. Moving. Alive. He may not be able to save the mother... but the kits, they still had a chance, so long as he could get them out.
"Lay her on her back." Bloodystar commanded, his voice and expression devoid of emotion, he had shut it all out because he had to, he didn't have time for it. His assistants obliged but struggled for Jetfire's body was fighting against itself; keeping her still for any period of time was nigh impossible, but they managed to get her into position.
Then Bloodystar unsheathed his claws in one paw and pushed them close together, forming one deadly point.
"I'm sorry I couldn't save you... but I will do everything I can to save our kits. I will have them remember you as the she-cat you were supposed to be."
With one swift, but careful, movement, Bloodystar began to cut open her lower abdomen, right where the first kit was trying - and failing - to align with the birth canal.

Jetfire shook violently back and forth, even as the guards slid her backwards onto her back. Anyone unfortunate to get in her path would be clawed with no regard to who they were. Her conscious had already slipped away, into the dark recesses of her mind. Even as she was sliced open there was no screams, just jerking limbs and the sound of blood splattering into the stone as Bloodystar attempted to save the kits inside of her. As the first kit was pulled from her body, it let out a shrill shrieks as it’s face was cleared. It looked a lot like Jetfire, thin and lanky. It’s fur the same silvery blue, it’s tail longer than most of its body resembling a mouse’s tail. It was bleeding from a long scratch across its tummy from where Bloodyrondo had cut open it’s mother. It shrieked loudly, wriggling back and forth in pain
Bloodystar's heart began to race when he saw the wound he had given that first little tom. Stupid. Stupid! He knew the kit was there, he didn't need to push so hard, why did he? Blood was dripping down the still connected umbilical cord, sliding its way down and back into the womb that had created it and nourished it. It didn't seem like much compared to Jetfire's growing pool but a kit this young couldn't lose a single drop without its life being on the line. Gently laying him down in the nest, Bloodystar's first instinct was to begin treating him, but then he head Jetfire groan and reality beat down on him like a storm.
There were more kits to come. He didn't have time for this one.
Not only did this kit need attention for his wound, but poison. All the rest of the kits to follow would need similar treatment, too. The guards were busy holding Jetfire down and couldn't help, nor would they know what to do, Bloody barely knew himself. There simply weren't enough able paws to help them all. He racked his brain for options as the kit screamed in pain at his feet. SunClan had many healers, but none of them were here...
"Perfectkit! Fetch Mountainsound, NOW!"
Hearing his name called, the gray kit squeaked in alarm. He had been standing just outside of the doorway, winded, having managed to keep up with the bigger cats who raced back. He hadn't been watching but he didn't need to to understand what was going on inside his father's den, "I... Yes, sir!" With that Perfectkit was off, he knew exactly where the healer's den was, having been in the prisons many times with Bloodystar already. Honeystorm (jump in at any time, we don't need to rolepaly Perfectkit finding her & summoning her)
With help summoned, Bloodystar gently into Jetfire's abdomen for the next kit. His wife's blood was pooling on the ground now, making it slick, will a well-placed shove even the most balanced cat would lose his footing. Some of the warm liquid had been soaked up by the downy feathers and straw that lined their shared nest, but it had a limit and it was met, there was just too much. Blood was everywhere and all over the High Priest but finally he felt the head of the next kit and pulled.

As Bloodyrondo searched her body deeper for the next kit, the queen's movements began to weaken further and further until she seemed to stop all together save for a few twitches and the rippling of her sides. Jetfire's heart was still beating, but her breaths were becoming more shallow by the moment each one taking far longer than it should. The next kit to be born was tiny, covered in layer of warm brown fur reminiscent of a new born fawn with small white speckles down it's back. It had a thin angular face like it's mother, with high cheek bones and a sloped curve from it's head down to it's nose. Unlike it's sibling the kit didn't start moving immediately, but a small twitch as it was pulled from it's mother showed that it wasn't dead yet.
"Don't just stand there, groom their fur backwards, put cobwebs on that tom's stomach, just do something," Bloodystar barked as Jetfire fell still. He was scaring even himself with how little the prospect of her imminent death was weighing on his heart, but, again, he couldn't afford to waste time thinking about it. The red-furred tom truly matched his namesake as he reached in for the third kit. This kit, though, it was laying in just a way that his paws couldn't quite reach. Reflexively he went in with his mouth, same as he would a particularly stubborn root, and eventually pulled out the third kit. He and it were covered in blood.
"I'm here to help, Perfectkit told me what was going on." Ruinedportrait ducked into the den just as he had barked out the orders. Without asking questions she immediately went to the tiny tom kit. With gently paws she gently rolled him on his back, licking the scratch clean. Once she was satisfied that it was clean enough, she checked to make sure his airways were clear before chewing up a tiny bit of dock leaf and applying it to the tiny scratch to prevent infection. Lastly she carefully coated the scratch in cobwebs before rolling the kit back over.
Almost instinctively the janus moved on to the second kit and began to furiously lick the kit's fur the wrong way in an attempt to warm them up and starve off the shock of their traumatic birth. Silently she prayed to the Sun God hoping that they would let the tiny kit take a breath, a shiver made it's way down her spine, at the memory that there was no Sun God to hear her plea. Carefully she opened the kit's mouth, using the tips of her claws to dislodge anything that could be obstructing it's airways.

Mountainsound wasn't far behind. Well, she wasn't as early as she'd have liked, but counteracting poisons took specific herbs, not to even include what was needed for an emergency kitting. It was a rare moment in that the she-cat had no real guard, but she was carrying a large pouch of herbs nonetheless. It wasn't surprising to anyone who knew the Senator, but it might surprise Bloodystar not only that she actually came despite opposing him and having been imprisoned, but she spared no expense when it came to collecting the best herbs from the stores.
The moment she stepped into the room, it was like a calm fell over it. Perhaps it was just the fact that someone of her skill had arrived, or perhaps it was the blind she-cat's soothing demeanor. It was cool and calm, her movements swift and adept, but not frantic or exuding any sort of panic. "StarClan guide my paws." Her words were soft and almost unheard, but in a way, it was direct slap in the face of the Priestess, calling on the stars SunClan had specifically turned their hearts against.
All the same, she worked quickly. "Ruinedportrait, chew up the shock root, then put it on this leaf." The only thing she could smell was blood, blood everywhere. She pulled out herbs and leaves, shoving a leaf and some shock root at the she-cat as she grabbed snakeroot, pushing it at where Bloodystar's scent wafted around the metallic scent of blood. "Bloodyrondo, you chew up the snakeroot, place it on Ruineportrait's leaf when you're done. But first, tell me exactly what has happened, and what you have done to treat Jetfire." Her voice was stern, commanding, and it made it abundantly clear she was absolutely not going to accept any sort of back talk. She was already pulling out other herbs, Iris petals that she crushed with a single paw, stinging nettle seeds, both placed on the leaf where she'd directed the two cats to place their chewed herbs. Then lady's mantle, chewed, as she assessed the situation, first focusing on Jetfire.
Mountainsound didn't know how many kits had been removed, but she knew she needed to focus on getting the kits out, administering the herbs that would reduce Jetfire's bleeding, and counteract the poison in her and the kits, and then focus on making sure she and the kits didn't die in the process. The chances were slim, but like hell would she just give up on the queen.
Perfectkit had followed Mountainsound into the High Priest's den, emboldened by the sheer number of cats that were present now, but what he saw made his stomach do somersaults. He heard of horrors before, of cats who Foxbane allegedly gutted or skinned or dissolved, but the weight of the phrase 'there was blood everywhere' never seemed all that scary until he lived it. There was a pool of blood around Jetfire but pawprints of cats who walked through it covered the entire den's floor. Bloodystar himself was particularly drenched, almost from head to toe, so bloodied that Perfectkit thought for a second he was hurt, "J-Jetfire..."
"I have this under control. Just focus on the kits. When I cut Jetfire's stomach, I wounded one of them. The gray tom," Bloodystar mostly dismissed Mountainsound's presence. It had been an impulse to summon her at all but, if he was being honest with himself - which he wasn't - he was glad that she was here. In all of Bloodystar's most major healer moments, he'd had a more experienced cat with him as a guide, and being on his own had been more stressful than her thought, "There's one left..."
Back still to Mountainsound, and the snakeroot that she had presented to him pushed aside, Bloodystar went back to Jetfire's stomach for the one last kit. This one wasn't as hard to reach now that the one ahead of it was gone. With a tug more forceful than he had intended - perhaps having such an audience made him more nervous than he had expected - he actually removed the kit still in its sack, causing part of Jetfire's womb and other internal organs to hang slightly out of her abdomen. Bloodystar gently cut the kit out of the sack with a trembling claw and sat it next to the rest, the gravity of what he had just done weighing heavily on his shoulders.
Jetfire had taken the poison, but Bloodystar had been the one to draw her blood. He was just as much a part of her death as she was. Or, he would have been, if she was actually dead. The High Priest nearly jumped out of his fur when the most wretched yowls came from Jetfire's mouth, loud enough to make him draw his bloodied paw up to shield his ear on reflex. How could she be alive...? There was so much blood.
Eyes so dilated they looked black as night, Perfectkit felt tears pour down his cheeks. He still struggled to take in the scene but he knew what as playing out before him was life and death. He put his trembling paws together in a prayer, "Sun God, please save my sister, she loves you very much and I... we need her... please, please Sun God... Bloody says you're still listening to us... Please... Save her."

"Ah, yes, so much under control you're just letting your patient and mate bleed out, and not even trying to help chew up the herbs to counteract the poison in you mate and kits' systems." Mountainsound's tone turned snarky and low in an instant, though it broke through Jetfire's screams as she poured the lady's mantle from her paw onto the leaf. "Either obey my orders, or get out. If you can't set aside your ego for the good of those in your care, you do not deserve the title of healer, and you're pathetic excuse for a Priest. Now how about you help your own kits. They're in infinitely better shape than your mate." She didn't wait to see if he obeyed, taking the snakeroot for herself and motioning him to his ki. The kits, as a whole, were more likely to be okay than Jetfire, provided they got the herbs to counteract the poison. Beyond that, it was a far more simple task than literally sewing Jetfire back together and saving her life.
Before she stuck her paws into Jetfire's abdomen, she spat the herbs onto the leaf. "Once the shock root's done, mix together the poultice, and divide it into a very tiny portion for each kit, and the remainder pass over to me for Jetfire." She directed Ruinedportrait and Bloodystar, if he was even still there. "And Perfectkit. Can you go get me some water soaked moss?" Her voice turned soft as she directed the kit, though it was still commanding all the same. "We'll need something for your sister to drink when she wakes up." Mountainsound usually wouldn't just lie to a cat, promising someone would be alright, but Perfectkit was already traumatized enough as it was, he didn't need to sit and watch and worry all the more. Besides, this was a simple task, something that would give him focus and purpose, as though he was helping Jetfire. To be fair, water would indeed be fairly helpful, but not at this exact moment.
Ruinedportrait wasted no time chewing the Shock root just as Mountainsound directed, making quick work of it, while taking care not to bite her lip or cheek in the process. Once she was done, and the paste was on the leaf she moved to the snakeroot Bloodystar had discarded and began to chew it into a pulp as well before spitting it back out on the leaf.
"Here Mountainsound." she said quickly moving the leaf within she blind cat's reach.
Bloodystar at first refused to move aside or even look at Mountainsound. Yielding even a little bit was the same as saying she was right and he was wrong. Summoning her at all had been hard enough, but letting her boss him around? No, she was here to assist him not lead the charge, but the truth of the matter was that he was in way over his head. Poison was one thing but, when he had cut into Jetfire, he had not been careful, assuming that his treatment of the poisons had failed. His incisions had been sloppy. Deeper and wider than necessary. Getting to the kits was his highest priority, not preserving their mothers' corpse... and that very same corpse was howling in pain, fighting its cruel destiny. One he had dealt, directly and indirectly...
Without acknowledging Mountainsound's criticisms, he backed away, giving the more experienced healer full access to Jetfire. He joined Ruinedportait and prepped the herbs as directed, then began to administer treatment to the kits one by one. He did not say a word as he worked and if Ruinedportait got in his way he would shoulder her side, almost as if he was pretending she wasn't there at all.
"Mhm..." Perfectkit wiped the tears from his eyes sloppily, smearing a streaking of bloody across his face although he would not know it, then stumbled out of the den in search of the moss ball that Mountainsound had requested.

It was going to be tedious work, and Mountainsound knew it, though after a long moment, noting Bloodystar's willingness to listen to reason, she gave him a singular nod, which considering the situation, was about as much acknowledgement of respect for doing the right thing as she could afford to allow. He might not care, but the actions following were telling in their own right, still direct, but no longer with an edge of harshness, the tone of two healers working together, not a healer speaking as if to a novice who needed to be taught how to even make a poultice. Ruinedportrait's instructions were simpler, more like the latter, but still respectfully calm.
She pulled part of the poultice, pouring it in the queen's open mouth and then shutting it tight against the screaming, gently massaging her throat to force the instinct to swallow. There was no pain relievers in this, not yet, she needed to ensure Jetfire was responsive, though she intended to hopefully use some around the wound itself to ease the distress.
From there, with the kits squared away, once she knew the herbs were helping to counteract the poison, it was sort of all a blur. Taking herbs gently to the she-cat's insides to ward off infection and reduce her pain, taking her claws and thin strips of vine or other thin strands of semi-dry plants to gently poke holes, with the help of the others, to sew up her uterus, and any other insides that she could deduce were damaged, place the organs back where they belonged, use cobwebs and herbs to mop up and slow the bleeding more than just the lady's mantle would do. Cleaning, sewing, herbs, it was all a blur of plants and work, and by the time she was done, Mountainsound was covered in blood, herself, and tiredness was weighing at her bones as she checked Jetfire and the kits' statuses once more, administering Jetfire the most herbs she could spare to calm her and ease the pain, without feeling as though it would tip too far into risking killing her as well.
To be quite honest, she had no clue if Jetfire would survive, the kits had better chances, but this was the best chance they could all be given, slim as it was.

Time skip: It had been several days since Jetfire had tried to kill herself and her unborn litter. Since then she had lingered on the thin line between life and death. At any moment she could have passed on, having stopped breathing on several occasions only to be revived by force each time she tried to slip into oblivion. It was only through sheer determination on the parts of Bloodystar and Mountainsound that she hadn’t drew her last breathe.
Jetfire’s eyes slowly fluttered open, and though she lied completely still the den seemed to spin in circles around her. Each time she tried to form a thought, it slipped away like water through her claws. She tried to move, but her limbs wouldn’t respond. They felt heavy, the effort of trying to move them proved to be to much, leaving her to simply stare at the stone wall. The pieces weren’t fitting together, none of it made any sense. Why was she still here? The positions she had taken should have killed her before any help could arrive. It had been planned out so carefully... So why...? Why was she still here in these god forsaken walls?
