Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
- Then pack it up in boxes, head for the next town running -
Today seemed lazier than the rest. She hadn't belonged to Swiftclan long, but it seemed like these cats didn't walk as much as they buzzed around. It made sense - having little time to waste when you don't settle down in any one place for very long. Greenfrost found her place here because she liked how fast the pace was. Although she certainly wasn't complaining about the calm manner her new clanmates had about them today.
She had gotten a head start on today; heading out into the brush and catching her breakfast, plus some, before she had come back to camp to settle atop a particularly green patch of grass to watch the other cats as they came and went. She was very much still trying to figure out the ins and outs, but she wasn't exactly the type to ask for help. That being said, she had spent several moons before stumbling upon swiftclan as a rogue; and she was at the point where she was dying for company. The others seemed friendly enough, it would be so easy to wander along asking questions.
But Instead, she would stick to her patch of grass and watch as they came and went. Perhaps she would pull someone aside if they struck her fancy, or perhaps she would just enjoy the sunshine on her pelt and the white noise that camp provided her.
Cradlegrave was never one to sit still—not when there was always someone to chase after, and someone chasing after him in return. Sitting still had meant death to him for as long as he could remember, and he’d be lying if it wasn’t at least part of the reason he’d joined up with SwiftClan in the first place. He’d been attracted to their nomadic lifestyle, the way they avoided settling in one place for too long...
...Though he suspected that even the flightiest members of the Clan were beginning to get a little irritated at his constant pacing.
It was for that reason that he’d resolved to at least make an honest attempt at “chilling the heck out”, as one of the apprentices had put it. It wasn’t something Cradlegrave was used to, but he supposed it did have a certain appeal to it; one Clanmate in particular caught his eye, as she sat on a patch of grass and simply watched everyone come and go. He didn’t know her name, but he vaguely recognised her as a newcomer to the Clan, like him—who had arrived in the Clan first, he couldn’t say. What he did know was that this was an opportunity to try and assimilate a little better into the Clan, and Cradlegrave was nothing if not an opportunist.
He gave the surrounding area a brief once-over before padding across to sit next to the she-cat, close enough to be friendly, but hopefully not so close that it would creep her out. “...Enjoyin’ the weather?” he asked. He tried to sound casual about it, but it came out just a little too forced, too unnatural. Maybe this wasn’t such a great idea after all.
Greenfrost's head jerked towards the cat slightly as he sat down, although her eyes seemed to move much slower to meet him, as though she was merely taking her time that day. He could feel his uneasiness and found herself intrigued by it, despite the fact that she'd sooner perish than convey interest in another.
"It's a beautiful day," She purred in agreement, giving him a cool smile and letting her eyes lock with his just long enough to feel genuine. She then went back to gazing over the area, studying the others as they went about their business. "What do you like to do on days such as these?" Her voice was velvety with a sultry quality - although that was just from straining her vocal cords over the years.
She had recognized him, but only as the tom who seemed to be ready to crawl out of his skin just moments earlier. She couldn't tell in what way, but she could most definitely related to the sentiment. She felt like that more often than not in her more recent memory, either from the structure of clan life, the idea that she might actually become attached to these cats by way of her apprentice assignment, or merely the restless that seemed to follow her around like a cloud over her head.
That was a good question--what would Cradlegrave like to be doing on such a sunny day, if not this? What would he be doing had he never come to the forest? Today's weather was perfect weather for tracking--cloudless sky, no rain to obscure his vision--and given that he'd spent the majority of his life tracking others, he'd usually used the weather to his advantage and opted to pick up the pace, rather than spend the day relaxing like most cats might.
"I don't like to feel like I'm wastin' a day of good weather," he settled on, which wasn't exactly an answer, but it was easier to say than haha yeah well I ain't really got no hobbies and honest to god I barely feel functional at times but it's no big deal, y'know? "I suppose I would find myself somethin' to do, and go from there. Just something to keep me movin'. How 'bout you?"
( sorry this reply is shorter xD listen the roleplaying gods are not paying me mercy this week )
"I was looking for ideas." She shot back with a playful twitch of her tail. "I'm hardly enough for routine to know," Greenfrost continued in a sigh, tossing him a glance before she looked back out to the blue skies above them. She pressed her eyes shut for a moment to take in the breeze, although she was most definitely gauging his response in the back of her mind.
"I'll be honest, I haven't had this much time without something that had to be done in quite some time." This was the truth, and it took a little extra effort to suppress her own surprise at that fact. That particular second may have been the most genuine she had been in quite some time. "I can't decide if it's nice, or maddening," She added, before she could think better of it.
(what a moooooood. this is not my ideal response either. next one? i got it. promise.)
