Anemoneshade dropped another mouse in the pile. Was she distracting herself from the circumstances by hunting? Perhaps. But it kept her busy. And that's all she could ask for now. Though her time back in camp was dreaded now. It felt like her mouth had been sewn shut, and she was the one that held the thread. It ate her up, was threatening to destroy her. But at least she could provide for her clan, the whole reason she stayed in the first place. A church is the people in it, not the building, but Anemoneshade found herself more attached to this territory than she thought. Though just as she was about to leave camp again, a voice caught her attention.

Shadeflower had been watching her clanmate curiously. Anemoneshade had been out hunting an awful lot lately. The mottled tortoiseshell was surprised that the she-cat was not yet tired from her countless excursions. Shadeflower twitched her whiskers. It seemed most of her clanmates were doing everything they could to distract themselves lately. The tortoiseshell warrior gave herself a quick stretch before she stood up. It looked as though the other warrior was about to go out again. Someone should at least accompany her.
"Anemoneshade...!" Shadeflower called out. "Wait just a moment. Were you heading out again?"

For a moment, Anemoneshade didn't know how to react. She should have expected someone to call out to her when she was heading in and out of camp so much. Still, her eyes widened as she came to an abrupt stop when Shadeflower approached her. The warrior tilted her head briefly before nodding. "Sure, Shadeflower." It was better to be with someone than alone, even if they ended up not hunting. A part of her hoped, with how raw her paws were getting.

Shadeflower's whiskers twitched as she looked the warrior over. She wondered how many times already she had been out. The tortoiseshell looked back up at her and offered a small smile. "I think the western border needs a quick glance over. I think we're set on prey." She commented as she glanced back at the fresh-kill pile. "Lately its seems as though that's all anyone is able to do"

She had been on auto-pilot. And now looking over at the fresh-kill pile, or practically a mountain by now, she shuddered some. How much had she even contributed to that? Her mind was so focused on the prisoners and Bloodyrondo, it hadn't occurred to her. "Yeah." Anemoneshade laughed quickly, the air between the two falling silent for a moment before the lilac she-cat turned back towards the entrance. "You're right though. Best not dawdle, I spose."

Shadeflower nodded and walked after the other warrior. The tortoiseshell she-cat had remained quiet for a moment as she walked out of the camp with Anemoneshade. The she-cat cast a quick glance down at the other's paws. Shadeflower was unsure if she should bring them up, but she couldn't help them. "Are your paws alright?" She asked softly. "They don't hurt, do they?"

"Oh." Anemoneshade lifted one of her paws as soon as Shadeflower said that. She looked them over, maybe more used to seeing them as red and swollen as they were by now. She was always such an active kit, she was surprised they were giving out as easily as they were. When she put her paw back down, she couldn't hide the wince. "Heh heh, yeah, they do. But that border won't check itself, no?"

"No, it won't." She said with a gentle laugh. "But we can take it nice and slow." The mottled tortoiseshell commented. She didn't want to push Anemoneshade any further. She had often hunted to the point of near exhaustion just to avoid the camp and those in it lately.

Her and Shadeflower were the same, maybe. Just biding their time as they tried to put everything together. Anemone was fast to call someone a friend, but it was at least nice to know she wasn't alone. It was enough to give her a surge of energy as she smiled, a genuine one, "Okay, sounds good."

She smiled at Anemoneshade. "Then it sounds like a plan." The tortoiseshell purred as she slowed her pace. She didn't want to cause Anemoneshade any more discomfort, especially if she had been hunting all day.

Still, the slow pace made her able to think. Anemoneshade's head swirled, wondering if there was something, anything she could have done to prevent this. The most likely answer was the simplest; no. But she was naive enough to carry it all on her shoulders regardless. Her face scrunched up a bit, as the camp got further and further away. "Do you think this could have been prevented at all?" Anemone finally asked, letting that ball drop.
