Oddkit fell to another coughing fit, the cold air of the night starting up her asthma. She buried her face in the nest, trying to stifle it as much as possible. The last thing she wanted to do was head back to the medicine cat's den again. But the more she coughed, the more she felt it was inevitable. Finally, Oddkit pulled herself up and wiggled her way out of the nursery. Though it only made it worse, but she could at least be a little louder.
The first cough had drawn his attention, the second more stifled cough perked his ears. And the moment Oddkit started wiggling, he was arranging himself to crawl out after her. Concerned she was going off to die in a quiet corner of camp. Just the other day one of the older kit its had told Antkit that when the elders got really old or sick sometimes they just disappeared. Oddkit seemed really sick, which meant she might disappear. So he had to keep an eye on her.

Thankfully, Oddkit didn't go too far. She was more familiar with the elder side, after spending so much time in camp. How they didn't want to bother anyone and would walk off to at least join Starclan with some dignity. For as hard as they worked, they never liked to be doted on. Oddkit couldn't help but feel the same, especially as she hadn't even done anything with her life. Just... cough and visit Amberbird a lot, then keep coughing. It was suffering, humiliating even. She took a few steps away from the entrance, just to separate herself from them before laying down and pulling her paws beneath her.
He stepped out after her on quiet paws, biting down on his instinctive chatter, and shoving down his humorous spirit. Even Antkit had enough social awarness to realize it was not the time for idle small talk or silly puns. "Are you alright? Should I fetch Amberbird?" He whispered as he reached her side, glancing around to see if anyone else had awoken.

It was a whisper, barely audible. That might have been what made Oddkit jump more. She was like a cartoon character, puffing up as she whipped around to face Antkit. Though once she saw him, her fur began to flatten. "Oh, hey Antkit." She whispered, but her voice was more strained and raspy. Like it took her a lot of effort to speak. "I'll be fine. Please don't get Amberbird." Oddkit pleaded. She was so tired of seeing Amberbird, she could scream.
[ sorry for taking so long, my dog needed a few surgeries and things got busy for awhile. ]
"Are you sure, you sound... not great." He fretted, nervous about if she got worse and then he would be left explaining why he hadn't gotten someone sooner. "If you don't want me to get Amberbird I'm gonna hang around then, just in case." He added on, wanting to be transparent. Though from her words he assumed she'd rather have him hovering around rather than go to Amberbird.

(it's all good. hope your dog is okay)
"I'm sure. This isn't that bad of an episode." Okay sure, she did not sound great. And really, Oddkit couldn't blame him. But she was so tired of going to Amberbird for every little thing. She could go the rest of her life without even looking at another herb. "That's fine, you can stay here with me." Just... anything would be better. She was probably gonna be held back from promotion, so this brief freedom was coveted.
